its mostly because of the asian facial structure and how its similar for both men and women, especially in japan since their face curvature is slightly different than most. it's easier for them to pull of a feminine look. its mostly to do with their small nose and mouth, the big sunglasses helps blot out the eye factor which would make them look more manly
