Good story. Connor was a weak young man, easily manipulated by the insidious Emily to cast aside years of affection for the FL and exile her to the countryside for 3 years to atone for alleged bad behavior. From that moment, there was no hope for his relationship with the FL. He deserved to lose her. Really liked that, while recovering from an attempted suicide, the FL was inspired by another patient to regain the will to live and threw herself into a new rewarding career. Along the way, she and Jason found each other.

In my opinion, Connor's behavior of drowning himself in alcohol is unrealistic. He would be devastated because his ego was trampled, but I believe he could easily move on and find another love interest. Nowadays, it's so easy to find a new partner after a breakup. Based on how he treated the girl before, it indicates that he didn't really love her, so there's no reason for him to act as if he can't live his life anymore because Christina is already married. In reality, men are not that sentimental; they can easily find a new love interest after one ends. That's why many mistresses are appearing now.
