  • Some mishaps during Thanksgiving holiday travels resulted in the Miata giving a Chevy Impala a little kiss on its rear bumper. The Impala only got some paint transfer, but the Miata suffered a bit worse. I had to get her fixed up quickly before I return work the following Monday, so here's what I did!

Good job, always sucks to crash but at least was quickly resolved!

Thanks! And I didn't have to drive to work with a ratchet strap holding the hood down 😆

Where'd you get that bumper from?
It looks so clean, almost brand new

Just some dude from Facebook Marketplace. Bumper had been primered prior.

@@winguard96 Wow that's surprising. Bumpers in my area looked like they've been ran over at least 20 times by a semi and they still want $300 for it.

@@SlavicBoi whoa! The bumper I got after this one (since I did another bonk) looked as terrible as you described but guy wanted only $20 for it. He was local too, thankfully.

@@winguard96 yeah people here smoke crack before making posts on FBMP. I'll see a totaled stock Miata for like $4k "no low ballers I know what I got" type of posts. It's insane honestly.

Dang! my biggest fear in my miata is fighting the urge to stomp on the accelerator pedal to have a little fun. So many cars don't see me and cut in front of me all the time. I am super defensive driving with my miata. Ever think of going bash bar at this point? It's around $200 I believe for the front and back. Good time to add the fender braces you were talking about in earlier videos! haha. Back yard mechanics use a tree or pole with a rachet tie down to pull the frame and hammer it at the same time. If we lived in the same state would of totally gave you my hood and bumper of my parts car. Since owning this miata, it's like almost a necessity to have a parts car and to buy spare parts to negate down time and hard to find parts. My alternator is currently dead and it looks like it was the original alternator! OMG! Due to the snow storm it delayed a lot of the shipping. I been without an alternator for a week and a half! Bummer!! Also the torch emblem I believe start in 1993. I bought all of Keith Tanners books on Amazon. He also has a complete picture manual on repairs, mods, upgrades with torque specs on it. It's definitely worth the money!!! Have you ever though of doing a 1.8 swap? My parts car is a 97. I plan on transferring over the diff and upgrade my 1.6 brakes to the 1.8 ones. You can also install jeep lights as an optional upgrade for your head lamps. When I watched you repaint your brake booster in earlier videos on your Celica I loved it! The reason being is that there was clearly a leak from the master cylinder for the brakes and my booster looks janky. Also the fluid ate away the paint below it. Plan on repainting my whole bay like you did with your celica!! keep up the good work and videos! love it!

No bash bar, I drive offensively so my intentions are known. Plus that would spoil her looks. 😉 Car is already BP-5A 1.8L swapped! Headlights are already upgraded to Hella E-codes. Thanks for the comments!!

No idea! Still lined up perfectly even with the panel replacement. I've since taken her to a body shop to have her straightened out, and everything is back in spec again. I'll make an update video on it, along with future build plans. 😄
