A nice chat in your garden patio 😊👍👍 Its funny to me…if a smoking lounge is only for cigar smokers 🤔 Usually in Switzerland and Europe…you’re welcome to join those clubs…as a pipe smoker too. I go occasionally to the House of Smoke in Basel in Switzerland…they have a huge walk-in humidor for cigars and a great selection of pipes, house blends and all the accessories for pipe smoking 😄😉💨💨💨
Thank you for the vid, sir. I haven't experienced snobbery coming from cigar smokers although I've been to the local cigar lounge 3 times and never saw another pipe smoker. I HAVE experienced a bit of snobbery amongst a few of my pipe smoking brethren, however. Some people (a small minority) hold themself aloof if one is smoking a common OTC brand or "codger blend" out of a no-name pipe. I just don't have the funds to buy exotic or expensive tobacco or designer pipes... But I guarantee I enjoy my pipes and baccy as much as the next! Peace brother.
i learned my lesson about that early in my career. fortunately the man, much older and wiser than i, was willing to give me a start-over and i gratefully took it. it's not that better and worse don't exist! it's a matter of considered taste. but that can never discount the real enjoyment experienced by others. more succinctly: people like what they like. and they may well like it for reasons i do not know.
I can't imagine it being an issue to have a pipe smoker in a cigar lounge unless I guess if it's a very, very fragrant aromatic mix, but a classic tobacco what's the real problem you know? That said I am someone in a country with literally no smoking lounges... we can't be snobs, I smoke my cigars with pipe smokers, cigarette smokers, weed smokers, because we're all standing outside in the cold anyway, we may as well chat haha.
If there is a smoking lounge in a retail store that sells cigars and pipes and pipe tobacco, then you should be welcomed into the lounge. Our shop requires one to make a purchase to be welcome into the on site lounge.
I’ve heard of this happening. But I’ve been fortunate to have a great local Brick & Mortar that serves and welcomes both cigar and pipe smokers. I’ve bought pipes, mostly, when they serve a purpose I have in mind. Even if it is for the sole purpose of owning a Savinelli! My favorite Savinellis are my 606 KS and 804 KS.
Just questioned all the guys at my local cigar spot, nobody seemed to care and we all agreed that our cigars would most likely overpower the scent of pipe tobacco anyways...I have found that certain lounges have certain "vibes" lots of "who's bigger" contest. That could be the case for your lounge. I started with cigars and have just recently moved to pipes. I love both and the enjoyment I get from cigars and pipes are unique. Glad I didn't limit myself with ignorance like the people at the lounge you went to. Also I think you should try the Dunbarton "Stillwell Star" series of cigars. Steve Saka(cigar legend) and Jeremy Reeves combined forces to make a cigar that smokes more like a pipe! The nicotine doesn't quite punch as hard and the flavors are more of what you may be accustomed to. Cheers!
I have never experienced not being welcome to a cigar lounge. I personally think that the aroma from a pipe is more tolerable than a cigar. At least my wife thinks so. lol. I would recommend looking at a Rhodesian pipe (Savinelli ROMA 673 KS). Good luck & have a wonderful week. Keep them smoking that’s what they are made for.
Started my pipe journey after smoking cigars for a long time. I was a paying member of my local lounge, and was spending a lot of money on nice cigars. I just simply got burned out on them. I decided to try pipe tobacco as a change, and in the beginning was much more cost effective as well. After first buying bulk tobacco and a few tins I now have cellared a range of choices, and the pipe collection isn’t cheap! At least if I spend good money on a pipe I have something to show for it. A $300 box of cigars goes up in smoke and all that’s left is the box 😂
My dad is sending me a couple corn cob pipes that’ll arrive in a couple days. Got my tobacco and filters today. I’m lookin forward to it. He’s explained it as a therapeutic experience so I’m ready!
My first pipe is Savinelli 626. That was chosen purely due to its aesthetics. It barely packs a full flake and it can be filtered. I think I can recommend that because I don't have any experience with any other
Near downtown Tulsa off the Interstate, there is a wonderful Pipe lounge. Grass roots, large collection of tobacco and many tvs and chairs. Friendly smokers
Hey Jeff, this is a topic that I just did a video about on my channel. Here in San Antonio Tx we have many Cigar/pipe shops. Everyone I have encountered are welcoming to pipes here. I would suggest you go in and get to know the club members, I’m sure they will welcome you in. Btw your next Savinelli should be a 320 shape. I love mine. Happy smokes my friend!💨💨💨💨
Nice talk. I'm a pipe and cigar smoker, and I've never encountered a cigar lounge where there were pipe smokers also. On the other hand it would never bother me in the least if a pipe smoker smoked in the cigar lounge. I suspect it may have to do with the fact that the owner wants to encourage the smoking of his preferred thing. I'm enjoying, BTW, a Sav. Arcobaleno and would love to try a first Peterson. I've gotten nicotine poisoning from a cigar, but that was because I puffed too frequently and the ventilation in the room was poor. As soon as I get that feeling, I slow down or stop. Then I'm OK.
As a cigar smoker it sounds like that’s more of an issue with those proprietors than it is with cigar smokers in general. The only thing I understand is if you’re not a member per se and a guest that the etiquette would be a purchase of some sort to enjoy the lounge.
@@jcx5663 My comment was stupid. Yes, there is definitely pleasure in pipe smoking. I think I meant to say that I see cigars smoked in more hedonistic settings (casinos, nightclubs, beach parties), whereas pipes are smoked in more contemplative settings (on a porch, on a solitary walk, while one reads, etc.)
@@abesapien9930 i smoke a cigar in all those settings by I get your point. I think the portability of a cigar plays a part there too, enjoy your smoke and your done, no need to carry a pipe/tin etc. Accessibility of it as well.
The tobacco shop nearest me has about a 50/50 mix of cigar and pipe smokers. I used to mostly smoke cigars, but for the last year, I’ve almost exclusively smoked pipes. I guess it’s a good thing for aging my cigars.
Great video! I hate going to my local cigar lounge. The customer service is terrible. If I want to go to a nice one I have to drive a couple hours to the country squire.
I just got a Savinelli 601 Churchwarden. I love that pipe. Smokes so smooth and cool. Sorry you had a bad deal in your B&M shop. Ours welcomes both. Sell a good line of pipes and tobacco along with the cigars
While traveling for work, I stopped into a local cigar lounge and purchased a tin of an English blend (can't remember what it was). I sat down to have a bowl, and the proprietor said, 'You can't smoke pipe tobacco in here.' I was thinking, 'Well, why the heck did you sell it to me?' So, I exchanged it for a cigar that I didn't enjoy as much as I should have (partly due to the experience). Looking back, I should have just taken my tin and found a spot in that town to enjoy it by myself.
I would recommend the Savenilli 673KS Roma, it was the first Savenilli I bought and it remains my favorite pipe over all. The 626 Roma would be good as well.
I would just warn you to be careful if you do because you will find that you will tend to grab that pipe so much more than your other pipes. Your other pipes may begin to feel neglected.
My cigar lounge is cool with pipes as long as your smoking the tobacco’s they sell. Even the guy working there smokes a pipe not many folks compared to cigar smokers I took my pipe in the next time it was like show and tell cigar smokers brought there pipes in. On the pipe 320 ks all the way great smoker.
Most lounges here are also tobacco shops so they sell both, and the lounge lounges also allow cigarettes so I would assume pipes are welcome too, since they sell them.
I am only two weeks into my Pipe smoking journey. It seemed to me that a lot of people smoke both and I didn’t realize there was a snob or click over it. That’s sad.
In our state we have a specific law for premium cigars in lounges. No pipes or cigars allowed under certain licensing. In our (my) community, cigars & pipes are welcome by all.
If they sell tinned tobacco and still discriminate that way against pipe smokers then I wouldn't lounge or even shop there. If all they sell is cigars then I can understand their position.
I've never heard of or seen any issues between pipe smokers and cigar smokers, of course I never asked if something's OK or not anyway And I've never been approached even by restaurant owners about my pipe smoke. Why would you even ask anyway? This seems like an awfully weak thing to do. Be an alpha and you will be respected And unreasonable week males will step to the side. Don't grovel for permission.
Rather than asking permission, I view it more as respecting the owner of the lounge to avoid disruption in his place of business. I have other options.
Doesn`t sound very friendly to me. I would just leave right away. I would not get a 320 ks. I have one, and I never smoke it, because the bowl is simply too wide for me.
I just ordered the blue savenelie gator 614. It was hard to fine. Every one was sold out. What do you think about that pipe? I'm upgrading from my 10 dollar corn cob pipe.
I’m a cigar smoker but like to smoke one of my many piles now and again. Point is, when the proprietor said the members will let you know you have to go? I would have told him, and any of his members, to kiss my ass and walked out! That’s just arrogance!
So can people not smoke aromatic or flavored cigars at that lounge? Sounds like the guy didnt understand your question or assumed you meant pot or crack?
LOL! This is a suburb in central Alabama and he is a wise older gentlemen. I think he understood. It’s fine tho really. I have the brick and mortar pipe store across town.
Sounds like he just didn’t know how to make money on you smoking there my local cigar lounge will let you smoke a pipe if you pay the 10 dollar cut fee that you would have to pay to bring your own cigar
He was actually very welcoming. Gave me a tour of the place, etc. I would have paid a club fee so he would have made a little $$. It was the other members who would have been the problem. And yes I could argue “I am a paid member!” but it’s not the atmosphere I’m looking for.
Ive never smoked a pipe. But i wouldnt get upset if someone was smoking one at a cigar lounge. Id only get annoyed if someone was smoking cigarettes or vaping. Go outside to that, i dont want to smell cigs or fruitty pebbles
