The point that we have to mitigate this in a way that is ongoing and sustained AS we do this work is the foundation. And then apply this same perspective to life as a whole.
This is great, especially the 1st method that other people don't talk about - that it is ok to change your environment and work somewhere else. Great video!
Well said Elliott. It's very topical for me as I did experience burnout recently. Took a week off for my birthday reconnected with hobbies and nature walks that I enjoy and I'm back to myself again. It can be easy to just get busy and forget to do the small things that help!
Hi Tim! Sorry to hear you experienced burnout recently. I've been there many times. Sounds like you had a great week off for your birthday! I'm glad you got some time to refresh. Happy Belated Birthday!!! - Elliott
The only way I have kept my energy and enthusiasm in my work, in a way that is just right for me is, 1. Every day, no matter how hectic, I take time to read a little, sit in the peace and quiet of my home, love on my dog, spend some time with God, and relax. 2. I intentionally left one of the places I worked, because of a nasty administrator. BEST decision I ever made! 3. I always make time for a little fun. My fun make look different than someone else's fun, but I make time for it. 4. Finally, I make sure I get some form of exercise everyday, eat super healthy, and get outside, even for just a bit. These are the only ways to keep the foundation of my life sustainable.
Thanks, Elliott. I appreciate your helpful tips and vibrancy in this video!

This is so true Julie!

So true! There's no reason you have to be tied down to a job if it's not working for you!

Thanks for sharing your own experiences, Cheri! These are definitely great ways to help reduce compassion fatigue and keep you inspired!
