I had a copy of the Sacred Concerts as a teenager and played it constantly.There is magic in this music and even a cynical agnostic like me finds a beauty and grace that hints at a higher power. Duke was and always will be one of my most favourite people who ever lived. God bless him as he blessed us.
It is amazing that the patent for this music is held in Denmark. It is easy to think conspiratorially given the power of the message in this piece. It should have household recognition in America, to whom Ellington gave so much.
In the Beginning God. This soundtrack does remind me of the story of creation in the books and readings from the Bible where the Lord God created the Earth and the Heavens.
