Short and sweet round up right now, but if you want a more in depth look at the weekends events I'll put up a race report, if its asked for. Played a few tricks in quali and generally came to win this weekend etc.
Qualified on pole without too much trouble, although with the returning Steve Sawley in his EK certainly gave me a run and was only 0.25 seconds behind. The overall times weren't the fastest, no idea why, the circuit was just slow for everyone.
I qualified on last years tyres, I don't like wearing out this years tyres in non direct competition, and its also a great mind fuck when you're on virtually bald rubber and everyone else is slapping on sticker fresh tyres. So I kept them on for race 1 as I knew there was still about half a second in the lap, which is pretty much what we found FL wise.
Starts are critical at Cadwell, its so narrow and easy to block without excessively blocking, that if you loose your position, its a hard job to make it up again. So naturally thats what I did and dropped to 2nd off the line. All credit to Steve does great starts and nailed me. He's also moved to 17" wheels and bigger rubber this years, along with supporting changes and its certainly done the trick, picking up 1.2 seconds from his PB last year. So the competition was right there!
The pugs not so much, not on their home ground and a lack of circuit knowledge didn't help their pace. Cadwell is a handling circuit and you dont get much of a chance to lay the ponies down, so the fastest pug was about 0.8 off the pace.
I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to pass Steve as he did a great job defending last year and I had a bigger pace gap on him, but I managed to pull of the move I wanted to last year by slightly altering the sequence of corners a tiny bit and making the move quick so he couldn't learn the move before I did it.
It was a squeeze, but Cadwell is always tight, and if you're going to make a move or defend, you have to be ready for a bit of rubbing, otherwise its kind of processional......so we got our elbows out!

I didn't realise it until end of this race, but I'm actually 2nd overall in the championship behind David Drinkwater. Its very hard for a Class A car to win overall due to number of entries docking points sometimes and there is usually someone in a lower class who's dominating. I dropped a few points this round, I don't expect to be able to take overall, but its a nice target!

That right, left chicane looks incredibly satisfying to go through. Really surprising how tight Cadwell is, especially heading up the crest through the twisties!

It did! Had to set it up 2 corners in advance once I'd spotted his runout line into the final sequence.

Great video and nice racing. I think you have a few tenths to be made by left foot braking when you dont need a gearchange..Just saves a bit of on/off throttle switch time :)

Warmed up nicely, attacked hard for a lap or two got your lead and locked it in kept the tyres perfectly on limit can't fault it, used to track a vvc metro not anywhere near your beast but she had some heart shame the body fell apart bit like myself.

Thanks bud! The GoPro can do 60fps, but I just think it has a werid feeling when watching. 24fps is what most people are used to watching TV with. I can try, but it's almost too smooth lol.

One question, why do you keep it tight over the mountain? Is it because theres less of a crest?
Secondly just looking at your driving position, have you thought about maybe bringing the wheel out 20/30mm towards you? From the angle of the video it looks like that might benefit...? Especially in the 2nd gear hairpin when theres more than a “cross” of lock. Then again if you’re comfy you’re comfy! 🤩
Thirdly, from what i could see from the brief moment in the video, i agree... her kids wont starve.

I keep it tight as it cuts a few meters off the circuit, you don't run the risk of using the grass as the circuit kinks as you crest, and if you get a good exit you're already positioned for the inside and nowt they can do about it.
I don't like close steering wheels and the feeling of my elbows tucking down. I don't like crossing my arms as you've only got one turn of lock to make a save before you have to take hands off and reposition. Keeping one hand on the wheel allows me to maintain reference of how many turns of lock I've got on.
And I sit so far back that the steering column has been extended and I've got 120mm of steering wheel spacers on.

Great stuff, have basically just binge watched all you videos. Love it, but hope you don't mind me asking just three things?!
1 - Have you tried or considered flipping the rear view, so that it works like if we were looking up at a mirror, not using a rear facing camera? I keep getting thrown by which side of you cars are, it seems if flipped vertically it would be far more intuitive?
2 - Could you make a complete balls up of some of your qualifying runs so we can watch you come through from like 10th?!!!
3 - Have you tried iRacing, it's all I can afford (!) and sims are getting better and better by the day, perhaps you should try it out?!!
Haha flipping the mirror.... Its odd as when I'm editing I can't work with it flipped... It confuses my brain much like its probably doing to yours. I can try.
I've had a few poor quali sessions where that has happened, but I don't think it'll go down well if I do it on purpose haha.
And I've tried some sim work, oddly enough, it makes me motion sick! Haha

Yeah, VR in particular screwed me up, but only for the first hour or two, drivers genuinely using it as a tool these days if you can get your sea legs!!

No, it connects to your iPhone and all the GPS and accelerometers are internal. It can connect to a ipod touch rather than just a phone.

You should do some before race vlogs and after race vlogs just so we get to see what all goes into getting set up. I run a similar series over in the states. Great driving
Thanks man, it's something I'd love to do, I'm still nervous of waffling face on to a camera. And race day it's hard to remeber and find the time to whip out a cam to chat to it vs actually getting stuff done. Especially if if something is wrong.

just watched the k24 dc2 vid, that car looks the biz, reminds me of the 90s touring car years before it got silly.
Not a full walk around yet, people have been asking and I keep promising. But when I do it, I'm never happy with the results.
Looks like you could do with the wheel being about an inch closer to you. Arms seem too straight at the top of the wheel.
Common comment. It's fine and I don't struggle, I'm more comfortable this way than having the wheel close to me.
I've already for 120mm of spacers on the coloum and it's dropped a huge amount as I sit so far back and low.
