I'm a Leafs fan and we got our own goalie puzzle happening, but if I was a Bruin fan I'd be sick seeing all this go down. They trade(give) away one half of the best tandem in the league, only to have the other one they chose to be the "one" demand to be paid like a top 3 goalie? Without ever having been a number 1 or playing more than 40 odd games in a year no less. If they have to start the year with Korpisalo, that's gonna make the B fans REAL happy lol.
Exactly lol. The way Swayman and his agent handled this has left a terrible taste in my mouth. Sure, Sweeney shares some blame but what is he supposed to do? Go back in his time machine and wave his magic wand? Swayman is taking advantage of a very difficult situation for the Bruins where they had to get rid of Ullmark before the draft in order to pretty much get anything significant for him and didn’t know if Swayman was going to hold out with his agent anyway so they did it. Now Swayman is trying to bend them over for a HISTORIC amount of dough just because he can. NOT endearing to the fans and especially not in a city like Boston. Fans have every right to be pissed imo, and if this drags into the season, it could get irreparably ugly. Because if they start the season without him and they still have that 8.6 million in cap space….it would be pretty hard to believe he isn’t seriously holding them hostage for more than that. Then we will know for sure

@@kencollins4737 but team depth doesn’t mean stacking star players, the bruins need to change their style of hockey, and your goalie is the one place you actually do want to have a high paid top tier caliber player, and it’s been proven (esp by the most recent cup champs) that you can have a less “star studded” team, as long as you have 1. Depth players that grind and play well together and 2. A star goalie, in either order. As much as the league is transitioning to a skill based league, and I fear the bruins have been starting to follow this trend in recent years, it’s consistently proven in the playoffs that the team that can play the “big bad bruins” hard nosed, Gritty, physical, defensive, classic style of hockey will always win in the playoffs, even against arguably the GREATEST skilled players in the past 10 plus years in Edmonton. This goes back as far as you can look, and is also what won the bruins last cup in 2011, against a MUCH more “skilled” canucks team. So while they don’t have 10m to give him. They absolutely need to give him all the remaining cap, make sure he is happy, and I think he can absolutely complete the current team to be a cup contender. They need to focus more on playing the proper style of hockey with the pieces they HAVE, rather than squeezing every last bit of money they can out of their players, in turn making them unhappy, to maybe add… one more bottom 6 at best player on a 1.5-2m dollar deal (which would only happen if swayman accepted 6m which he won’t) they need to pay the guy and focus on their game rather than pissing off and squeezing their current players to be able to get the “best” roster on paper. Marchand already took a pay cut to get the extra 2m that they now need to give swayman, they’ve taken their chance on a guy like lindholm for how much? 8-9m? A guy new to the team, to turn around and offer swayman 6m? It just seems backwards to me. Frank Seravalli poured cold water on the 10 million rumor and several podcasters leaked information from a different source after the fans went ballistic so it’s likely the sides are far apart and somebody is playing games with the media. For all we know, both alleged asks could be 100% legit. If Swayman is asking for 9 or even 10 and the Bruins want ~7, then it’s not that crazy that they would offer him 6.2.
