I wish I were a soprano. I love this air
+Antoine G. Believe me, that's not a good idea 😂😂😂
This is the best piano accompaniment of this song on youtube! Thank you!
+Despina Drougas Thank you so much Despina! I'm very glad you like it 🙂 Greetings from Barcelona!
This is Melissa Boher Jacobson, of Sing From Heart and Soul in Florida! We just LOOOOVE YOU!!
Glitter and be gay,
That's the part I play;
Here I am in Paris, France,
Forced to bend my soul
To a sordid role,
Victimized by bitter, bitter circumstance.
Alas for me! Had I remained
Beside my lady mother,
My virtue had remained unstained
Until my maiden hand was gained
By some Grand Duke or other.
Ah, 'twas not to be;
Harsh necessity
Brought me to this gilded cage.
Born to higher things,
Here I droop my wings,
Ah! Singing of a sorrow nothing can assuage.
And yet of course I rather like to revel,
Ha ha!
I have no strong objection to champagne,
Ha ha!
My wardrobe is expensive as the devil,
Ha ha!
Perhaps it is ignoble to complain...
Enough, enough
Of being basely tearful!
I'll show my noble stuff
By being bright and cheerful!
Ha ha ha ha ha! Ha!
Pearls and ruby rings...
Ah, how can worldly things
Take the place of honor lost?
Can they compensate
For my fallen state,
Purchased as they were at such an awful cost?
Bracelets...lavalieres
Can they dry my tears?
Can they blind my eyes to shame?
Can the brightest brooch
Shield me from reproach?
Can the purest diamond purify my name?
And yet of course these trinkets are endearing,
Ha ha!
I'm oh, so glad my sapphire is a star,
Ha ha!
I rather like a twenty-carat earring,
Ha ha!
If I'm not pure, at least my jewels are!
Enough! Enough!
I'll take their diamond necklace
And show my noble stuff
By being gay and reckless!
Ha ha ha ha ha! Ha!
Observe how bravely I conceal
The dreadful, dreadful shame I feel.
Ha ha ha ha!
Thank you for this! 🙏😊
10:38 pm is technically too late too sing an F above high C but i'm in the mood and it woooorked
No time to insert a sustained high F if you are singing along this recording :(
If you sing the full opera, in most theatres the shows start at 8pm and you'd have to sing that aria pretty late anyway, so better train for it :-)
@@irinakhruleva955 Yes I was thinking that too.
Thank you so much! This is absolutely beautiful!
Will you PLEASE please, please, please record "What's the Use" accompaniment? I'd like my musical theatre class to sing it in December.
Bravo! Thank you for uploading :-)
Thank you so much this is helping me work on this song so much.
Thank you so much for this!! Invaluable
+Nicole Roberts You're welcome Nicole! Very glad to be helpful ☺
Love it!
this is great! Thank you very much!
+Sachiko Youko Sei Thanks a lot! Many greetings from Barcelona! Héctor

Extremely well played. The only thing is change is to add a just a little bit more time before the staccato that starts from low E - there's just not enough time to switch if you do it in tempo. I'd also make the pauses for the last high notes longer, otherwise there's no chance to show them off. I understand everything has to be done in rhythm but still.
Apart from that - amazing
Hi Irina! Thank you for your comment. You're right, I should take time there. Let's see if I can record it again in the future 😉
I agree :-) For the second Db6, a lot of us go to F6 instead and it's great to be able to hold that note a long time :-) And hold the last Eb6 as well :-)
I love this song but the highest note is just out of my range would you be able to do another in a lower key? If so I would really appreciate it!
Hallo! Any chance of downloading these to use?
can u try and do 'Spargi Damro Pianti'
+Alex Sherdo Hi Alex! Could you send me the score to info@freepianist.com ? Thank you!
Please: Ou va la jeune hindoue👉👈
+Coco Henderson Not easy to record the beginning 🤔 Have you got the score? My e-mail is info@freepianist.com Thank you!
@@Pianissim Maybe skip the beginning since it's acapella anyway, and start with the few notes before "ou va la jeune hindoue", we singers will figure it out :-) And the score is on IMLSP: imslp.org/wiki/Lakm%C3%A9_(Delibes%2C_L%C3%A9o)

You should get slower and give a little breath after “beside my lady mother”, it’s impossible to reach :)
