First Look At The New Alcons Studio Monitors At Gearfest 2023

- In this video I talk to the guys at Alcons about their new studio monitors. I was left open jaw after hearing these monitors. They were on a different planet. The way sound travelled between left to right was like I could see the audio. I could follow it around the room.

I heard them, I was blown away, I went back 4 times to listen and tried to convince him to make them! 🙏🏾
I contacted them after the show to tell them they would be silly not to put them into production. They aren't making something similar to anything else on the market. People just need to hear them. To be believed.

Please use a gimbal in future, I got dizzy watching this lol. Great interview and interesting product, I love the sound of ribbons.
As much as I'd love to use a gimbal and get you a steady shot for you, I do not want to be carrying it around all day. Additionally I don't want to be attending the drinks afterward with a small film crew and gear. But if next time you fancy coming as cameraman please let me know.
For most people the most important thing was the talk of the 8 channel amp. As thats the difference from more people buying. No one needs 4 channels at 1500w with a loud fan that costs a lot. For pro audio it's fine because you have arrays. Not for studio or home or even small venues pro audio. Me and my friends want alcons but not the amps.

@AudioAnimalsStudio where will they be available? Can you master with them?
@MMSBITCHS 100% could be used for mastering. They will be available in 2024. These were the prototypes. They wanted to get the feel from the industry if they should produce them.

Greetings. Was the 8 channel amplifier loud (fan noise) or silent? From what I've read their existing 4 channel amps are as loud as hell.
I didn't notice any abnormal noise in the room but there were about 8 people in there so was hard to say. I would make a request though that these need a silent amp for studio purpose. I did mention most people for studio purposes will only need a 2 channel amp and won't need to pay for 8 channel. So would be best to develop a dedicated 2 channel amp for these monitors for studio purposes. I would imagine that's what they'll do.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio Thanks for the response. By their designs though, their amps have to be 4 channels minimum, for 2 way systems, 2 channels per side, 1 for ribbon & 1 for woofer. I hope indeed that the one you heard was actually a silent design.
@WackoRecordsJam yes I'm sure they'll design totally new studio ready 4 channel amps. We will need to wait and see.
@AudioAnimalsStudio: How would these compare to the PDP M.U.M?
These were the best speakers I heard on the day. The MUM monitors were really good even though the room we heard them in was less than ideal. I think these will be double the prove though. I could be wrong but I'm going to guess these will be in range of £12k to £18k a pair.

How do you think they stack up against the Ex Machina Quasars?

@kmal5290 I have the new EX Machina Arcturus monitors in our other mastering studio and they are incredible. Similar to the quasars but a lot bigger. They seemed to compare well to them. The low end I thought sounded better on the Arcturus but the high end way detailed in three most amazing way on these.
