In stella all part is from metal, in other shimano reels are plastic bushings (twpower, wanquish) and plastic gears (sustain, biomaster, ultegra, stradic).. its not cheap, but stella is the best spinning reel you can buy. Only the 13 bearing cost is about 100 $.

It's really nice reel. Just a work of art. However I wouldn't spend $800 on a reel. There's some really nice reels made in this day and age. The Penn Slammer $249, The Daiwa Ballistic $229 and the Shimano Sustain $299. All those reels a super smooth and built to last and all 3 reels combine are cheaper than the Stella. I would without a second thought take those 3 reels over the Stella. Just my opinion

I know everyone has to decide for themself how much they`re willing to spend on a reel and the Stella is one of the best but you don`t need to spend that much money on a reel for Crappie fishing.
MrGb4ever You are correct brother. But crappie is my main species to fish. I also use this for whitebass and walleye and wiper. Check out my Stella fj video and Daiwa Exist Lt. Been using them since I got them. Will be doing a comparison vid on them soon
Hi brother good day could you differentiate the two model for stella the FI and FJ. ..which is best to use in inshore casting and in light shore jigging..
buknoy kulukoy The fi is the older model and the fj is the newer model. The fj has one less bearing but has more waterproof then the fi. Shimano cut some corners to make the fj cost cheaper. If you fish in shore I would go with the fj. It’s a great reel. I been testing it out against the diawa Exist Lt and it’s ahead so far.

The certate is more comparable to the vanguish or the twin power. You are correct when you say the Stella is overprice. I think a lot of good reels are over price yet we still buy it so we can have that experience with the overpriced product lol. That’s for the comment brother...keep fishing 🎣
Sam Nguyen dawia is good but the new stella is way more smoother and better built gears dawia has more line capacity but with that extra line capacity your getting more weight to the reel
U have laid a Q does it woth it? But then u didn't justify it enough . Yes it is light , tough ,smooth,water tight ...etc.. Mind u am about to buy 10000 one though. Have some best reel money can buy , it just sometime things u want so bad n can't help it , saragosa would be more than enough for most fishing applications with additional weight .

I got 8000HG & 14000XG, and both are sold by myself. Every time I have to take care of the reels lightly and nicely, you know it is tired. I don't really think Stella worth the money. If you have money, you must buy more different action rod, it will help you a lot to catch fish than a high-end reel for play jigging. And Stella is not smooth actually, even not smoother than it's low-class reel for waterproof design. Ok, I could accept the answer, but Stella is not 100% waterproof in fact. It is only water resistant, that is far away from waterproof. It is not a good idea to sacrifice smoothness as water resistance, it must be 100% waterproof or give it up. Yes, Stella is a nice looking reel, but it not worth the money. Get more action rods will help you get more fish in different tide, current and deep, instead of a Stella.

As a high-end reel, 100% waterproof is a must or low the price. Once Stella is my god reel after possessed it, shame on Stella. Shimano ruined my imagination.

Stella’s are great, I have a Stella SW 800 but I think the daiwa saltiga dogfight is a better reel. Stella’s are still great reels.
