Some of you may be wondering whatever happened to my original video? See, people were complaining about my rant towards Raine Whispers and while I thought it was uncalled for, I had to put it in to get my point across. I also had to edit a few stuff out criticizing the fandom and experiment with censorship so that i can monetize these videos in the future. So I hope you enjoy this edit.

The problem with owl house is that luz never evolve or reflect on her actions. She is always getting validated and there is a dangerous massage of living in dilusions and not facing reality, it's okay to feel outcast becuase you are different but not to the level where she cuase disaster on the real world and go on to escape from reality. That not a healthy to face life which the show excuse it with "it's okay to be wierd" way to The show make as if the mother didn't have a point but she really have a point to worry about her duaghter mental state of living on fantasy. I find luz noveda to be selfish time to time. She didn't even remember about her mother only at the begining. The relationship for me between them are not that justified and some side character don't have developmenet like gus which he get on only one episode which was overshadow for that dance between luz and amity. Ampibia build side characters way better and gave them propose and there is more at stake than owl house.

      Well said, my friend.
Another problem is the plot. It’s like “let’s make errors, then let’s revolve them and then let’s make other ones” in an never-ending cycle or “let’s make thing in a not logical way”
      Example are:
-The finale of the first season is caused by Luz. In order to revolve, Eda tries to save her, but she is captured. In order to save Eda, Luz ought to give the portal to the emperor, but she destroys it. At the end, there is a new problem: Eda hasn’t got magic.
-the emperor wants to go to the human world and hasn’t got the key, but the portal...but now I ask myself...are you serious? You could have easily that damn key with the portal when you had Luz in check...
-Amity takes with her the key to the lake...once more:In the name of logic, how can you so naïve or simpleton to take something important with you?
And what happened? Easy answer, she had to give to Hunter, because he talked about Luz...

@@Flap1521 Don''t get me wrong. Anne did have selfish thing but the show most of the time, not always, do not validate her. See Marcy that wanted to stay there and how the consequences of her action end up biting her up in the end. Anne was understandable why she couldn't go back since she needed to find information of a way to go back and made sense she took months to go back and even searching for her friends while being loyal to her new found friends. Her goals was less selfish. Meanwhile luz was not forced, she just followed and enter the portal and even eda gave her the choice to go back but she refused to go back and wanted to become a witch without worrying about her mother and using the camp as an excuse to lie to her mother. two season in and she barely learn much of a spell and eda still haven't taught her basically anything which for me has to be one of the worst teacher and student dynamic I've seen. She once again have the choice to go back to her mother but nope, she still want to avoid reality. The show like to validate luz escapism to fantasy and like i said, that's not healthy way to cope. Maybe that why i don't like isekai anime that much. Anne throughout the series think of her parents and worried what they might thinking. The scene where anne talk about her mother missing her and spring telling that if it was possible to miss someone he never met and they hug each other out in consolation is why i say friendship in ampibia is way better than owl house friendship. Some people say ampibia boring and respectfully i understand since season 1 was a whole thing about made a mistake or lie, learn a lesson or forgive and rinse and repeat but between those you could see their friendship and aspiration and dream and secrets. The last two episode of season 1 of ampibia were way better done than owl house two episode of season 1. However, i simply don't understand why they say that when owl house go so fast without telling much of importance and many character are so undeveloped and arcs are rushed over in season 1 and season 2 improve it but not enough since they still rushed arcs which many of the character development do not feel earned nor their friendship which i simply don't buy it.

      @@kyordannydelvalle523 You’re perfectly right.
If I may, between the first and the second season (the third doesn’t finish and I don’t want to express a premature judgment), I really prefer the first because, in those episodes, the time was “realist”, that is, it does seem that 3 months have passed (for example relationship of Anne with the other characters) and, of course, during that time, Anne grew up becoming more mature.
But the second season is a different story: confused and too diluited, even if I acknowledge there are some very good and interesting episodes, but some episodes were completely useless.
I find also interesting seeing the difference between the confrontation of Anne with her parents and Luz with her mother.
Anne, wrongly, was lying, but for good reasons and, for that, I can understand.
Luz, in one way or another, is totally wrong and indefensible. I exaggerate, but I would like to see Luz losing all she has gained in the Boiling Islands and maybe it would be the final check mate for her and she will become more mature at last.

"The problem with owl house is that luz never evolve or reflect on her actions"
Forgetting episodes "Separate tides" and "hunting palisman", where the main conflicts are *exactly* about this, yeah sure
"and there is a dangerous massage of living in dilusions and not facing reality"
"as if the mother didn't have a point but she really have a point to worry about her duaghter mental state of living on fantasy"
This is the point of many episodes where Luz tries to act as Azura and fails miserably. Every time she tries to do something just based on her fantasies of grandeur, she fails miserably. And Yesterday's lie shows what could've been for Luz. With Vee's friends who also were at the camp being completely normal kids, with their own habits
"She didn't even remember about her mother only at the begining"
Cause she had a set plan to return to her mother when camp was over so she had no reason to worry? When she's in the same situation as Anne (where she is stuck in the Boiling Isles) she misses her mother, constantly tries to send messages to her even though it doesn't work and she tries her best to make a portal back to earth
"Ampibia build side characters way better and gave them propose and there is more at stake than owl house"
      ...No? Not really?
Sprig still does the exact same stuff he did from the beginning of the series. He gets told to not do something, does that thing, learns his lesson and in another episode he does it again. And he still does this, even though it's the final season. I don't care if it's realistic for a kid to cause that trouble, cause it's UNrealistic for the people around him to not get mad at him for constantly doing that.
Hop Pop went from a nice character with depth to a gag character who makes some funny faces/gets hurt in a funny way.
Polly went from a reasonable character who was surprisingly mature to a reckless, violent and careless ball of destruction that needs to be told to calm down. And this is the main cast.
If you're talking about Sasha and Marcy, yeah, duh. Those are the two best written characters of the entire show.
I'm not saying The Owl House did all of this better, i'm saying "Stop trying to One up The Owl House". Most of the people in the comments here and in every video criticizing it will be spamming how Amphibia is a powerhouse of writing and how TOH sucks, which is a confusing one sided competition that i have no idea where or when it started, but i really wish it could just stop

    • @Flap1521

@@pedroian5964 Anne and Luz haven’t got the same situations. In that, the problem is “how they got into”: Anne was “obliged” by Marcy and her naïve egoism, but Luz remained consciously in the name of “Oh it’s time to achieve my dream” or of “I am different and I don’t want to lose my identity or liberty”.
Frankly speaking, Luz cares about her mother and that’s a fact, but I sometimes compare her interest for her mother like “I should come back to her...Oh no. Anyway”.
Paradoxically Luz is more interested to the people in the Boiling Islands than her mother and she knows them since a few time. What a great love for her mother, I presume.
And last thing, about the characters of Amphibia, Hop Hop, Spring and Polly were always so with some exceptions.
To be honest, I prefer that kind of characters than ones in Owl House and, before you can say it, I consider Owl house and Amphibia on the same level for the time being.

I believe that the main issue with the show is just that there's just SO MUCH GOING ON AT ONCE.
The writers seem to favour certain plot threads like Lumity and Eda's curse while just throwing in every over plot thread into single episodes (This is with S2A, this doesn't happen really with S1). The characters are also just not touched on as much as they should to actually be characters. The only characters who actually have something to them are just the main three with some side characters that get barely touched on having personality. It's a bit annoying seeing characters like Willow and Gus just get nothing in S2A, in S1 they had some very slight connections to the plot.
Amity is one of the main characters with no personality and is generally just labelled as 'the lesbian character'. Something weird that's always bugged me is that Amity, Willow and Gus are all collectively removed from any major plot episodes with Amity especially. I originally though it was strange how they forcefully removed Amity from Agony of a witch and Young blood old souls. But then as S2A continued the hexide gang just were never connected to the main plot going on. The only actually PLOT episode that Amity's been in was Eclipse Lake, which I do agree was repetitive with the girlfriend thing.
Lumity itself was a bit too quick, but I'm glad it wasn't a canon at the season finale situation. If Lumity had more time building up Amity as a character before throwing them into a relationship. I feel like when S2B starts it'd be better if Lumity wasn't at all focused on the gay panicking and was more focused on Luz and Amity being independent characters.
I'm glad that King's getting a plot at this point though I think it's a little late it's handled better than plot lines that have been basically ignored. All the plot lines that are kept to one episode should've been teased throughout different episodes like King's (Eg; Raine). That way they'd still have some relevance to what's going on
Vee or Five is a tricky subject because while I'm glad they actually did do the doppelgänger idea it would've been more interesting if they had a motive. The theories for the letters and the shadow faces were so much cooler and more interesting than what actually came out of that episode, though the last scene of the finale was very well done compared to it.
I'm sure that if Disney hadn't cut The Owl House short the end product would be better seeing as it'd give them more time to develop all the plot lines they want to get to. I do like the show and the content that comes from it but I definitely have issues with it. (This is all my opinion and this is being written while on like 2 hours of sleep so if some stuff doesn't make sense it's probably due to that)

Okay here’s my true problems with the show
Honestly I don’t care what anyone says but Lumity kinda.. sucks.
Like Luz did not have a crush on amity until that little kiss on the cheek.
Amity back in the first half of season 1 was actually really cool and she actually felt like a somewhat rival to Luz. I didn’t really like that she appeared 2 episodes RIGHT after her debut because I’d rather they focus on something else other then amity. It would of made more sense to do more amity in later. Also do they HAVE to make amity’s character just Luz. It’s just the classic Amy rose with sonic
Second. Why does almost EVERY character have to be friends with Luz in the end. I wish in S1 Episode 7 that Luz and amity’s siblings could of have a little rivalry since she thought them bullying amity was terrible, but NOPE just has to make everyone her friend. Maybe I’m getting some ideas from OS Ben 10 sure But atleast that show knew what it was doing

You are right. Lumity really had its magic when the two were rivals. That talk they had before Luz went to fight gromm is really good. But now, they are just a normal teen couple with no magic at all, they don't any singular interaction.
Both of them doesn't really know that much about each other. The nichname "awesome girlfriend" doesn't really say something about their relation. Luz saying that "Amity is cool, smart," or talking about her colour hair, is something that people say when they don't really know why they have a crush on other people. I always say that even Marcanne from Amphibia already have more development and it is better, as a ship, than Lumity, and that is not even a canon ship.

I’ve noticed a lot of the poc characters are incredibly underdeveloped in comparison to the white characters, how does Amity, Eda, Hunter, and even Lilith (to some extent) have better character development than Luz, Willow, and Gus. Amity isn’t even part of the main trio yet her development exceeds Willow and Gus by more than it should, plus I’d like to see more of Amity trying to make up for her shitty attitude towards Willow cuz let’s be honest here if Luz hadn’t showed up Amity would not have apologized, hell she probably only did so she could get closer to Luz and the show hasn’t even confronted this notion either, Understanding Willow was basically understanding Amity, Willow has little to no development and only exists for Amity’s character. Don’t even get me started on Gus, they did him so dirty by having his focus episode get overshadowed by Lumity. Should we even talk about how for a “Afro-Latina” Luz has no black features whatsoever? I can see the Latina in her but not the African. Even her development is little, she hasn’t had any major developments or anything compelling about her, the writers give more care to their white characters than their poc one as For a “progressive” show they really do their poc representation so dirty.
Criticism aside one of the only good things in this season was King’s development and lore, Hunter, and Odalia being a milf. I do wanna see an episode of her trying to get rid of Luz for influencing Amity’s rebellion.

Call it white favoritism all you want, but I think this is good how it is, because come on... Willow and Gus have just as much personality as my half-broken PC lamp. Oh wait, less, even. At least my lamp looks like it has an eye and looks cute... Shortly, my point is that Amity, who gets more development and screentime, is an infinitely more interesting character than those two blank slates of paper.

@@comicguy416 Becoming more powerful isn't character development, it's power development. Character development comes more from the dissection and reevaluation of ideals. For example, in "Avatar: The Last Airbender", Aang is forced to accept the responsibilities and consequences of a role that he never wanted, Zuko redefines the meaning of honor, Sokka becomes more humble and acknowledges that he might not the great warrior he believes himself to be and Toph accepts that asking for help is not the same as weakness. In "Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts" Wolf learns to care more for others and Kipo learns the harsh realities of survival. Gus and Willow may grow in power, but the show has very few episodes dedicated to exploring their ideals and how they reshape them. They tend to center more around Luz, Amity and Hunter.

@@ThePrincessCH Personally dissagree on Willow and Gus not having development. While yeah, Luz, Amity and Hunter get the most (which I think is kinda nessisary), Willow and Gus' arks are more about gaining confidence in themselves
Willow is bullied for years, so has low self worth and deep resentments, but Luz helps her switch to a course where she's able to thrive, she makes peace with her old bully, but for a while is unable to truely forgive her until half a season in after really seeing her change, which her gradual boost in confidence and power is linked to, and eventually finds a partner who sees and admires her as strong and capable, something even her friend group struggled with. She's definitely not the insecure girl we're introduced to
Meanwhile, while he's definitely more of a comic relief character, Gus has episodes where he self reflects on the status of the magic track he's chosen and episodes examining his tendency to be manipulated by others, something we've seen several times in the series, then is put in a nightmare bubble where he has to confront those fears directly
Overall, they're less developed than the main cast, but they've definitely changed as people. Character development doesn't have to be at the forefront of an episode, it can be done subtly in larger stories

@@allaround33 Hunter seems to be a redundant character, given that they already have a disgraced, high-ranking member in the Emperor's Coven in Lilith and her redemption only lasted for one episode. They could have made Hunter into some sort of magical robot to spy on Luz at Hexside and possibly break her down, and place more emphasis on Lilith's development. Lilith's understanding of Glyphs already surpassed Luz's, since she figured out the Glyph combo and Eda, her supposed teacher, barely mastered the basics. Why not have an episode dedicated to that dynamic?
They could also cut back on the Lumity scenes to focus more on Amity's relationship with Willow or Gus. There is an occuring argument that Amity's character has been reduced to being nothing more than Luz's girlfriend. Amity and Willow used to be friends before Luz, and while Willow acknowledges Amity's efforts to make amends, some scars run deep. They could have an episode where the two are in an advanced class (since Luz is still a beginner when it comes to magic in general) where Willow struggles and Amity excels. Amity offers to help her and while she isn't intentionally trying to belittle Willow she hasn't gotten past the impression that she's a weakling. Willow, on the other hand, wants to prove her wrong but they have been on thin ice for so long that she's not entirely sure on how to proceed. It would be an ideal character growth moment for both of them without making Luz the center of their world. I am aware that Luz is the protagonist, but I was under the impression that the show was meant to showcase that while Luz is different the world doesn't revolve around her.

@@ThePrincessCH I agree with a lot of this (exept for Hunter being made entirely redundant, because for the flaws his character has, his dynamic with Belos is far more personal than with Lilith, and reveals a lot more about Belos as a character and a villain through Hunter's eyes, the "magical robot" thing is a little out there), and perhaps we'd of gotten many episodes like that if if weren't for Disney's poor handling. However, we can sit here and think of alternative stories all we like, but looking at the final product, I enjoy what we have, and, although they had more potential, I just don't see Willow and Gus as poorly developed, because I think their character growth is subtle yet tangible, and they really do feel different by the end than by their introductions

I'm glad you took the advice you got from the previous edit and edited some stuff out. Still hope your S2B video will go more in depth of the episodes themselves rather than just talking about certain characters. It would definitely give the viewers a more understanding of your point of view on the show. I liked the video just because you went out of your way to change the video a little. Most reviewers wouldn't have done that.
My opinion on this show is negative as well. I disagree with you on king's and hunter's story being interesting. I honestly do not care about any of the characters because of how rushed and unsatisfying everything is to me. We already knew King was adopted my Eda. We already knew he wasn't the king of kings because it played it off as jokes in season 1.
The emotional moments with King wanting his dad just didn't touch me as I would like. The main problem for me with this show is just the dialogue and how the characters tone are lackluster. The show needs a better voice director or even better actors. I honestly can't tell if it's the actors fault, or the main people in charged not doing more repeats of the lines.
Hunter is just a kid that wants approval but it's played off in the most by the note way ever. I liked his first appearance but gosh, he's just kinda pathetic with that episode of him and amity fighting.

My personal opinion is that if The Owl House had no LGBTQ+ elements at all and had better world building, better story, better plot, better direction, better writing, better development, character arcs and motivations, more mythological and historical references and sources and many more, then it would be a nice series. Lumity/Huntlow is very overrated, overhyped, boring, forced, rushed, without very strong chemistry, without any use to the story and plot, and very fake and dysfunctional. Lunter has more features in the series and works great in From Enemies to Friends and From Friends to Lovers. This is my opinion and if some people don't like it, fuck off. 2:33 Things I think that would greatly improve the show. 1) In the first episode, Luz tries to be friends with the other kids and they make fun of her for being childish and don't want to be around her rather than her scarring all her classmates. They tried to do a be yourself message when she brought snakes to school. I know its a cartoon and nobody got hurt but why undercut the moral of your story like that. 2) Get rid of the Think inside the box camp, 3) Have her go back and forth between earth and the Boiling Isles like Kagome does in Inuyasha. That way she isn't abandoning her mother on earth. 4) Significantly tone down her recklessness. Have her actually listen sometimes when someone tells her not to do something.

I don't really get some of the criticism you said in this video
Some of the criticism sounds as if this was a whole season ("If they just gave that kid an episode", "Bump and Belos have an ideological fight", "Have Eda find the creator of the curse and then make peace with the owl beast"). It's fine if you were saying what could've been done better in a certain episode, but this is literally asking too much.
Belos might be defied, Hunter might get a "Zuko alone" episode and Eda might find a descendant of the Collector (Moon faced hunter's name) - since i doubt she's even alive - and find it out more about the curse, but it's not gonna happen in the first 10 episodes of the season (specially when Hunter and The Collector JUST got introduced). You talk about pacing while wanting to cram stuff that would need to be very much rushed to happen.
Or even the part of "Many plot lines that are pushed aside almost immediately" is a prime example. Of course they're not going to just resolve every plot line in the *first HALF* of the season.
It would be like criticizing Amphibia by saying "The basement creature is never explained and left at that", "We never get to know the origins of the calamity box" and "The basement creatures just get forgotten with no explanation".
You can definitely judge the season and say YOUR opinion on the show, but you can't just let that affect you judgement

...Whilst I agreed with some of your negative points (Like the story structure being messy, some side characters like Gus and Willow being completely pointless, dozens of plot holes and inconsistencies, etc.) and politely disagreed with the others (I.e. The show being boring, the jokes being unfunny, *literally every point you had against Amity Blight* and so on...) in the season 1 review (Heck, I myself thought it could have been leagues better than it was), I absolutely need to draw the line at season 2A not being good.
There was not a second of it I didn't feel invested in, from King's story, to everything about Eda and Raine, to Amity standing up to her mother, to all things *gay,* to my personal favorite part of the show, Belos's and Hunter's dynamic and relationship... Everything is so well-made! Yes, there's not much room to breathe in and the show is sometimes so tightly packed it seems like it would collapse in on itself by a touch of a feather, and some characters like Willow and Gus again are still not getting enough attention, but to all that, I'll say: *BLAME THE GOD DAMN RAT!*
On the other hand, you have good and even improved elements, like Hooty still being the most hilarious creature to bless the multiverse and in my opinion the most purely laugh out loud funny comedic sidekick character (But oh, just you wait! He's way more than that) ever created, Amity and Luz are still *gay* as heck (More *gay than they have ever been, even, as their relationship is now cannon) and I love it, the mystery regarding everyone's favorite Brit Philip is absolutely amazing, and the way the journal was eaten by a tape recorder rat just so the characters don't get the full insight on his journey was really smart and so much more! If I listed every single good aspect of The Owl House we'd be here for all eternity, so I won't do that. I am of course fine with everybody's opinion, including yours, but in *my* opinion, TOH, as it stands is an 8.5/10.
(And yes I am completely aware of season 2B's existence, I just wanted to cover 2A and *only* 2A, because news flash: The series is sitll amazing even without it's existence, and it's greatness is only amplified by the fact that it does!)...
(...And whilst I am glad that somebody other than me prefers Amphibia over TOH... Saying that 2A is a 5/10 *25:07* is a straight up letdown)...
*(**15:33* ...Also, what the hell is Schaff doing here? One things for sure, though: He, the guy who rate TOH Season 2 a 9/10, definitely wouldn't be proud of you)...
