None of the controversy surprised me. The music always seemed authentic to me and all the clues are in the lyrics. I mean damn they literally promote crack and heroin use 😂
That was my thought. As a recovering heroin addict myself, i can't say i'm surprised. They're drug addicts, what sort of behavior were you expecting? They not whatcha call upstanding members of society, if you know what i mean.
@@the_real_tay_loud2072 Nothing good comes from crack and heroin use. The saying is true, never trust a junkie. Crack and heroin will turn good friends into thieves and liars once addiction takes control of a person who will not think twice to rip off a friend.

Good video. One thing that you missed that I think is very important is that when he was a child Scott found his fathers body after he committed suicide by hanging. It definitely had a huge impact on his work, and on his mental state.
That actually explains a lot for where some of that burning emotion was coming from. My friend jumped in an extension cord one night after we hung out and because of where he was and who he was (in and out randomly, wandering around), nobody found him for like a 8 day week. I don't know what that would do to a kid to see
yeah I had to get my friend down from a ligature, he was braindead but they kept him alive a few days so family could say their farewell.
Tore me up, he told me he was gonna do it and left door propped so I could find him, knew I couldn't get there fast enough. I was off scoring some bits so he could do some snowballs/speedballs (depending where ya live).
Talked to him w/his mother on speaker for hours same day, really thought we'd put him in a better place, did our best though, some things are just gonna happen. So sad.

That sucks. Destroying a venue just means less punk shows in your hometown. Lots of small venues don't book punk bands because of things like that.

the one time I met LoC was essentially the last tour of Ezra and Stza were still friends and it was the show in Minneapolis during Cracktoberfest tour and they were cool as fuck after the show. I didnt really get a chance to talk to Ezra or Brad which sucked but I did get to talk to and share very few words with Stza and this was like when Constructs of the State was going to be released later that year or the following, I cant remember, anyways like... I managed to find a studio recording version of the song Lie of Luck on Myspace and it was the original unfinished version they recorded. And anyways the reason I bring that up cus Stz asked the crowd if they wanted to hear a song from SFH from the unreleased album and I was like in the front standing with the mosh behind me, but as soon as I heard the guitar rift I knew and was like "oh, shit! I know this song!" and I'm pretty sure Alec could tell, cus he shot me a grin and nodded but I was singing the lyrics that I knew and I'm not really sure if anyone else even heard the song but I think Stz knew I heard the song cus he reached out his hand with the mic right in front of me and whoever else was by me and dude straight up gave me a high-five. And I was like "fuck yeah!" and it blew my mind, but after the show finished I didnt really get a chance to conversate with him and its prolly cus we were like standing in a circle as Scott was speaking about wanting to see if there were peeps they could hang out with at their place instead of getting a hotel or something, I think they were trying to do an afterparty thing after the show and he did ask me but my ass came with 4 buddies and we all lived way up north, (was like a 2-3 drive to minneapolis) and the moments he wasnt speaking a fan would ask him to sign something or share thoughts on whatever or girls would ask for selfies but Alec was like just quietly listening to others speak but he started talking to me for some reason and I think he did that cus, he seen I was kinda bummed that I didnt get to really say anything to Stz cus at the time, Stz was a huge inspiration to me, and the whole CV MG LOC INDK was my jam- but we were like vibing and just the fact Alec did that cus when I'm surrounded by others I dont know I tend to be "shy" or quiet and he picked up on that, and I picked up on the fact he did, but he made me appreciate him as an individual sooo much more then I thought was possible. Definitely one of the coolest guys I met. Extremely humble, sharp, and laid back. RIP Alec Baillie

Oh and you can check out his other band, Public Serpents for a similar sound without supporting an abuser- it’s the guilt free CV!
@@TzaCrackyeah sure I do, but only after appreciable change. Fucked up part is I don’t even really fault him for the Whitney shit, two addicts were in a relationship together, and a scuffle broke out and one of them exasperated a pre-existing injury, it’s just as much their fault as his. People in relationships fight, addicts do it worse, and this outcome was inevitable. I don’t believe he broke her hands in any direct or malicious way, it was the equivalent of kids fighting over the remote and one of them accidentally catching it in the face when the other let go. Sucks she got hurt but doesn’t mean he did it to her.
My issues with him lie in the way he treated everyone else around him, particularly skwert. He basically spent years being a selfish, conniving dick abusing everyone who ever gave a shit about him, cutting them out of deals, ripping them off to get high, etc. And as a recovered addict, I understand that, too. But to be worthy of that second chance, you’ve gotta actually change and I just don’t think that’s happened. Plus from a PR standpoint, the approach that was taken in response to that Whitney shit was kinda a gross mishandling of it and it’s gonna take a lot to save face in the public eye , regardless of the changes that are made.
John Dolan was the original drummer for Choking Victim who wrote the drum parts. He played in a bunch of other bands in the squatter scene and did sound at C Squat and Tompkins Square Park shows. Dolan quit the band before recording the record and Sqwert stepped in. Skwet is lovely but that's why he only has partial wiring credit. Because he only wrote part of it.
@@holliporrecatmJohn has literally no writing credits though. There were only like 3-4 CV songs pre Skwert that weren’t just No Commerical Value songs, which Dolan also didn’t write any of.
Skwert has 33% of all the writing credits, one third- in a three piece band, because he wrote one third of all the songs, i.e the drum parts.
@@aja5156 I have no emotional investment in who wrote what. I am Sturgeon's next door neighbor and Dolan lives downstairs. This video automatically played after something else I was watching and I saw your comment and repeated the words told directly to me from members of the band, not what is listed on album credits. Skwert is good people and recorded and played shows with the band and put a lot of work in so this isn't meant to discredit Skwert's involvement in the band, just a "fun fact" if you will. Maybe he changed some fills etc but the songs were written before he joined the band. Dolan will be doing sound on the upcoming LOC tour if you want to come ask either of them about it yourself.

While the video is good I feel as if the part of him being an overall asshole was not covered enough. One of THE worse people to ever graze the earth deserves no sympathy. He is a mess of a person he used to be and on top of the countless reports of how he treated people makes me repulsed that he is still revered and looked up to. Don't get me wrong it's one of the most influential pieces of punk music and I love CV and LOC but it should've gone more into detail of how badly he treated people. Overall great video though, I love seeing the little content there is being made on CV/LOC.
The Team Spider Christmas Show is what TV was meant to be
I think this oversells the value of that record / band.. "one of the greatest masterpieces ever.." eh.. Idk man.. I wanna send you some records... but whatever.. it had its charm... different strokes... cool videos.. keep on truckin.
If you narrow it down to just ska-core, then it maybe makes top 5 but Op Ivy takes the cake on that one
I drove leftover crack to the abandoned fort where they shot that video. It was a fun day until the girl from dayz n dayz got drunk and started screaming at her 2 boyfriends as they tried to coddle her
lmao I played a show with Days N Daze back in 2020 a few months before COVID shut everything down. They also fought before the show but kept it together as they played
I didn't know bout this Days n Daze drama at all.. but when I saw them live, the dude singer was being a fn asshole to the girl singer on stage in between songs. He would give her passive aggressive comments that were pretty much "You need to play better n quit fn up". When she was playing good. So much so, that when he gave her another passive aggressive comment I actually yelled out "Y'all are playing perfect dude! Don't worry about it!". The dude was just so on edge and perfectionist.. not in a good way, but in a annoying uptight way. I still like their music, but I thought I'd chime in with my experience
@extremepop324 they all seemed pretty cringy but I probably was too at that age
Trying to cancel someone has to be one of the least punk rock things I’ve ever heard
@@diabeticmonkey No, it’s not. That’s the world of posers who call themselves punk.
Simping for abusers means you're pro-cop, and thats definitely not punk.
Love that you included Pat the bunny in this
Everytime I met him he was really cool, I was usually drunk though
Such a waste, a clever talented man.
5 finger discount will always remind me of rushing on extacy while bombing hills. im a fan for life.
id like to also say im 7 years of heroin and cocaine and still love 500 channels. all those song could be interpreted completely differently at different points in anyones life.
I saw choking victim and then they did a generator show right after as leftover crack back around 2011/12/13
Great video truly shows what a true punk fan you are definitely not a poser
How old ARE you?? Glad to see punks are still preoccupied with the important things in life like who is and isn't a pOSeR
Hey get a loaf of these guys. They like things like a bunch if simp posers
Gave that dude a ride to a party after a show one time... my car stank for 3 weeks after
