- My Akai MPK Mini just arrived, so i decided to make a small beat with it. I hope you enjoy it and as always hit that like button if you do. Oh, and i have a huge project in progress, you definitely want to check it out next week, it's going to be epic!

you have to use the (annoying) MPK Mini Editor on your PC or Mac. Then map every pad to one note, for GarageBand and almost any other DWS it's a C for the kick, a D for the snare and a F# for the closed hi-hat.

My god, all this comes out of a tablet? Even better, it came like 2.5 years ago... what's coming out now, from new tablest and app versions, can't even think.
Caustics and Heat synthesizer also work with them. And most of all its cheap as hell.
How do you avoid the problem of the “this app is not compatible with this iPad” after a few seconds you connect your midi?

I have an Akai MPK Mini like the one in that video and I also use a camera adapter to connect the Akai to my IPad (6. Gen), but the IPad doesn't recognize the Akai...
So I was wondering, how you got your setup to work?

Just get one with a usb port and lightning port so you can charge the iPad while playing without any interuptions

That is INSANELY SICK!!!! I gotta have one. I did my music the hard way, almost gave me a heart attack, from an iPHONE8 no instruments. Exhausting when your vision is already bad. Check my channel. Rock music not bad either.

He just played it and then recorded but kept it playing the whole time I think

@Craig Desmarais The presets are saved on the keyboard itself, after connecting it to the iPad, you don't have to open them in GarageBand. And don't worry, you'll get it soon!

Try with free app Play&Sing for iPad. You can sing with live reverb and play piano using MIDI keyboard.

Why when I hit the pad, I hear sound about quater of second later, not the exact same moment. So it's very hard to make a beat because of that delay. Is there something I could do?
What cables are you using to go directly into your IPad? I’ve tried it and it says Akai requires more power
You need to have the iPad plugged into a charger for it to be able to power the keyboard. The iPad camera adapter has a USB port that you can plug your keyboard into and a lightning port that you can plug power into. This is an old video so it looks like maybe that wasn't a requirement in 2012, but it is now.

I think so, but due to the new lightning connector you have to use a separate adapter (can be found on Amazon), to connect the Camera Connection Kit with your iPad. Apple will probably release a Camera Connection Kit just for the Lighting soon, so you may want to wait for this to come out!

How are u using the mpk mini on an ipad without using a power source?? Ive seen a few people doing it but most say u need an adapter that has both usb + power adapter to lightning. Hope u reply!! Very curious to know how to do this!

kevin mitnick Em. Well. This software is "Garageband" made by Apple, only for iThings. I know that you can connect it via OTG cable (search it) and open "Walk Band" app for Android. I'm sure that works.
