    Thanks for the video! Can't you just remove the inner ring with those two screws altogether, is it just holding the glass inside?

    • @ReinhardBiller
      @ReinhardBiller Рік тому

      Thanks for watching! Yes, on the Nikon version of the adapter this inner ring is holding the glass inside. I think the glass is actually a lens and needed on the Nikon version. But you could try to remove the inner ring and carefully glue the glass inside.

      Any machinist with a lathe can make you such a spacer ring. But as mentioned in the video this method does not work as the focal point of the lens is not matching anymore.

    hi. I have a problem using an adaptor M42 to Nikon. My Nikon gives me this message: lens not attached. What should i do?

    • @ReinhardBiller
      @ReinhardBiller 4 місяці тому

      I don't know what camera, adapter and lens you use. But the adapter doesn't have electronic contacts, so I think this could be normal on some cameras, on my D500 I don't see the aperture obviously. The adapted lens is fully manual, you need to change the aperture and focus on the lens directly. As long as the camera triggers, everything is fine I would say.

      @@ReinhardBiller I have NIKON D5300, doesnt recognize the M42 lens, although I saw in a lot of movies on the UA-cam, several Nikons which works with old M42 lens.

      With my adapter M42 lenses cannot be recognized. But I still own my old Nikon D5300 and I tried using my Helios 44-2 with the Urth adapter and it worked just fine. The only thing is that the camera doesn't show the used aperture. If your camera shutter doesn't trigger try using the "release" option in the a1 menu. Maybe my very old D5300 settings video could be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/TNXdZqt2Px8/v-deo.html

    Or move whool elements block 2 mm-> to mirror. You need to cut inside tubus 2 mm or add between last blok and last lens 2 ring 1mm. Work with my Carl Zeis Jena 2.8 zebra.

    Does the Urth adapter lens change the properties of Helios 44-2 lens?

    • @ReinhardBiller
      @ReinhardBiller 11 місяців тому +1

      I don't have a reference and therefore I cannot tell exactly. And to be honest I have not used it very often until now. Maybe I also don't have the best copy of the lens, because wide open it is quite soft. However I think there are not that many adapter options for Nikon shooters.

      @@ReinhardBiller I found this review of all the 44-2 to F-mount adaptation methods and it seems all of them suffer from loss of swirly bokeh and some from less sharpness. He may make his custom back plate 3D printing design available which would be wonderful! ua-cam.com/video/OnavAxshsGc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

      The thin ring with the two small holes in it, which holds the lens inside.

    • @ReinhardBiller

      I guess it is to compensate for a different flange focal distance (Nikon F = 46,5 mm vs. Canon EF = 44 mm for example).

      I only have a few m42 vintage lenses and the Helios 44-2 was the deepest from the flange. I cannot tell if this works for all m42 lenses.
