I owned three of them.
Bought a 250 in 1971 then bought another 250 and a 350 in 1988.
Fun little bikes!
Ken, that bike is incredible☆☆☆☆☆ I have so many fantastic memories of the several years I owned a 73 Sherpa T 360. I rode the wheels off that bike in the Rocky mountains of Colorado, with a spare plug in the fender bag the bike NEVER left me pushing.....
My neighbor had one in the mid seventy's he was the #2 enduro rider- New England trail Rider's back then he used let me ride it those were fun day's
Wow I could not believe it Ken when you said that Bultaco has not been restored. Looks like you just drove it off the showroom floor. Absolutely gorgeous. That's only the second Alpena I've ever seen. Friend of mine in high school had one. Love bull tacos. LOL
My friend just hooked me up with a 73 Bultaco 250. It needs a complete overhaul but I plan on getting it done up nicely here soon. I've always wanted one and now I got one.
I loved those days with metal dirt bikes pieces of art.
I love this video on so many levels. As a child of the 70's, no motorcycle is more emblematic of that era for me than Bultaco -- and this is by far the nicest specimen I've ever seen. A flawless 'cucumber'. I even like the quaint New England town he's riding through. The whole vid gives a wonderfully nostalgic feeling and takes me back to a special time. Thank you, KA.
That bike definitely deserved the bow at the end!
i bought a brand new Bultaco 250 Pursang in 1974 from Hogans Cycle in Agawam...whay a great bike
Bulltaco was made to take a beating and keep on ticking love your videos I no this is a year later but someone once told me better late than never keep up the good work and you and your family God bless you all
I will be a buyer very soon for one like this
I had a Alpina 250 and I want the 350 now
Found a El Monedaro 360 in a guys garage for $200. Gave it a carb cleaning and a buff. Fired right up. Gobs of torque and fun to ride. Couldn't stand backwards controls and too costly to fully restore. Sold it off.
OMG .... beautiful condition ... one of my all time favorite old dirt bikes ..
Back in the day we'd have called those HIghbars. Still have my '73 175cc Alpina. It's a 250 now. Trials, trails, and enduros - the perfect machine.
nice bike I see you wearing Gary Nixon Enterprises jacket alot, I knew him well and we built a 1974 Bultaco astro 360 that had to be one of the fastest bikes I ever had! Alot of $$ but I had money then wish i had her back, I really love looking at your vintage bikes . Keep up the intrest in them especially our beloved two strokes
I inherited one from my brother. It was badass and always started.
love the paint n aluminum front fender
Thats a beautifull bike love to own it bultaco is a great enduro and motocross bikes the alpine great sound back to the good old days of great motorcycling the snow goes with the enduro,s of the great climate the frontera another great looking bike i would love to own when those bikes first came out were just as stunning should have brought one when they first came out still looking good to this day and the persangs sounded loverly the red ones and the blue ones very powerfull pulling engine and great sounds of beutifull music to the ears of the owners of bultaco the amal carbs and the smell of vegetable oil in the air was exiting to smell these beautys of two stroke honour
I owned this bike. Loved it.
Bultaco great bikes had a 360 pursang light narrow bike sick amount of power.
I took my driver test on that exact bike.
Stood up the whole test.
That thing is freakin sweet!
Perfect like brand new condition. Absolutely gorgeous!
Congratulations. Nice Bultaco Alpina. Regards from Madrid. Spain.
Had a ~71 250 Alpina in CT and I put thousands of dirt miles on her, best dirt bike ever for the period. Still remember the maintenance, axles out, clean brakes, lube cables, take off points cover plate to check for water leaks (common), flat plate the cover, silicone seal, loved that bike! Only mod was duct tape to protect the tank from my knees and Koni rear shocks (OEM were horrible)..
Memories...sweet sweet memories !
I love the Alpina I used to have a 1970 Matador it was a great bike and reliable I drove it everywhere and it was nice looking.
Got to ride today. Roughly 125 miles. 65 and 🌞 out.😎 Great looking bike!
Got a barn full of those . what's amazing is the dependability of those alpina bikes.
I've only ridden one and that looks just like it I was very young it was a cool and unique bike that's for sure that thing looks amazing man👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼🤙🏽🤙🏽
Wow! Absolutely stunning. Stop having fun!!!
Beautiful bike.
Riding that that would be amazing now. I rode my mates one in 1979 and we use to get drunk and drive often hahahaha. i can rebuild the motor blindfolded and tune the carburator with my ear
Damn that is amazing sounds awesome too
Superb looking bike!. You have GOT to save some of those bikes and spares at that closed dealership a couple of vids back. If I lived in the states I'd be camped there!. All those salvageable bikes lying in the rain soaked undergrowth!. Are tarpaulin sheets hugely expensive in the US?. I watched that episode open mouthed.
I had a 360 back in high school, when you twist the throttle she sure would give ya what you wanted
Beautiful bike 👍
Amazing. Thumbs up!
I’m surprised it’s a ‘71, the only reason is I was almost positive that they were Right-Handed Shifts until the ‘72 model ? Beautiful Bike.
You guys have the coolest job ever. What's the most expensive bike in that collection??
wow - rare and beautiful !
Awesome ❤
Awesome beautiful amazing incredible.
What an awesome bike!
Hell yeah would like to buy one
The rock salt on the New England roads messes up every kind of metal, had me a cringe a lil bit when I saw the snow but it’s your bike lol do as you please.
Cool !
Always liked these Alpinas seems like the fork angle was a little steep and the pegs were high like a trials bike. Worked well on tight trails thru the woods.
It’s a Sherpa T trials bike with a wide ratio trans out of a Matador. Stiffer suspension and a high mount front fender and a larger seat and tank. The high pegs really stress out your knees when transitioning from sitting to standing.
Not a 1971, they had RH shift, this is probably 75-77 it has LH shift and newer RH engine side case and newer muffler.
Mine would start and spin backwards once in awhile, that would get your attention.
Line the tank. The new gasoline softens the fiberglass
Keep it!!
It looks like it’s « your « Bike… thanks for the emotion you flued … Oddies but Goodie’s 😎🇫🇷
NOTHING else, inthe world...sounds like that!
Hermosa.
Awesome Alpina, needs fork dust seals however.
Ken I cannot believe you auctioned off that cherry other bultaco . The one that was never ridden ,I know money is money but I thought that was a Museum piece, not for sale . Unless I got them confused
Q moto de 2tiempos pura fuerza i torque
So it's restored then.
Had a couple of goes on a friends Baltaco scrambler 4 speeder didn't have a throttle was more like an on off switch.
Is it still for sale? How much?
Hurts to see such a clean classic in the snow😑 but hey I don't own it so rock on
Only thing to say is WOW
I got a 71 at original Alpina, how much you pay for it? Yah it's nice!
As the guy says at the end, it's a 1975 model. 100% original? Not the headlight, speedo or throttle.
It's kind of weird you can buy these for
If this is “unrestored”.... then what is a restoration. Only thing not refinished was the tank it sounds like.
no fork boots, no original rear fender. WOT?
And oh by the way every true bull freak knows they run backwards!!! always good for a laugh on your buddies!
I ran out of grip on a steep climb, rolled back momentarily, and the bugger ran backwards down the climb with me still on it.
Metralla engine.
Geez. No tach. And no beans.. no bueno
"All Original"? The VDO speedo & that hacked speedo bracket aren't. Veglia Bressel yes. VDO no.
Alpina was never a racebike.
I beg to differ. I had one and had 2 great finishes in enduros with an Alpina 250. One in Mississippi 1st place and one in Louisiana 3rd place back in 1973.
Having grown up with Bultacos, the Alpina was probably the worst conceived model ever produced. With the Sherpa T frame (a very successful trials bike that displaced the British 4 strokes in competition with Sammy Miller helping with the design) the primary riding position in the woods was standing up and that didn't work in Enduros. The Matador was the enduro bike to beat; it won the ISDT numerous times. The Matador was followed by the Frontera which was also a great dirt/enduro bike. OTOH, the Alpina was mismatched for enduros due to its short wheelbase and not good for trials like the Sherpa T due to the wrong gearbox. I've had 2 85 series 250 Alpinas and they are my least favorite of all the Bultacos. I currently own a 49 series Sherpa T and have owned series 26, 75 and 107 Matadors, and 180 and 215 series Fronteras. Also currently own 5 Metrallas and one El Tigre. Bultacos were and are great bikes, but of all the great models produced the Alpina ain't one of them. Like saying the Corvair is the best car Chevrolet ever made.
Those are all low end power, great for boonie crashing, but don't even try to race it cause You will lose! My cousin had one and he loved it, I thought it was just too slow, no power band. The video tells it all. On the other hand, I rode a pursang 250 and it about ripped my arms off.
What a fantastic example. I had one when I lived in Spain as a kit. I was only 16 and my parents bought me this bike to go to school on. It was about 3 years old already but well taken care of. I rode it everywhere, a real freedom machine.
