Simply great to see how germans were able to build something so beautiful and functional. Remain in the centuries the deep sense of work, beauty and religion that the germans had during the history and their colonization of Transylvania. I was there and I was proud to be with german ancestors too. In Sighisoara I was feeling like at home.
I have always been in love with this country. Last year a man from the area of Breb gave me a book called Along The Enchanted Way and it just added to my enjoyment of the area. Best book I have EVER read and I read a lot. GREAT video here!
In the video they noted that some of the bones in graves appeared as if they might have been "disturbed". I am no archeological expert but I do have a possible explanation for this. My father was born and raised in the Saxon village of Fiser (Schweischer). He told me stories about the cemetary there. The current Saxon cemetary in Schweischer was of a limited size, but it is located outside the church/fortress walls (ringmauer).. Families had plots in the cemetary where members of their family would be buried. After a certain number of years (I have no idea how many years) a plot would be "recycled". A more recently deceased family member would be buried in the same grave as a member of the family who died long ago. When they were digging up the ground for the newly deceaused person, they would sometimes find remaining bones. They would gather those bones together and place them in the corner of the newly "recycled" grave, and then the coffin of the new buried member would be placed on top. This might be even more needed in the example they mentioned in the video where the graves were in the area between the church building itself and the "ringmauer". This would mean that the overall space for graves was even more limited than for a cemetary that was in an area outside the ringmauer of the church.
