He takes great risks that's for sure, but you can tell he believes in what he's doing and has no fear of falling flat on his face. That's why all his songs are so different, but listenable.
Don't blame your lack of creativity on technology. The development of synthesizers, for example, resulted in an explosion of creativity. Home recording studios based on laptop computers made recording available to just about everyone, instead of just those that could afford rediculiously expensive studio time.
For me, it's more about how it's so hard to just be bored in our time. Lot of entertainment, maybe even too much of it. And it's hard not to touch. If you wanna be creative, then get off everything internet related for an hour or two or three or four and grab an instrument. Just try to be bored for a day. Write songs on pen and paper. Be consistent. That's all you can do.
I like Jack White and I think he is a genius and a creative inspiration, but I have to disagree with what he said in this video about technology hampering creativity. Technology doesn't impede creative thought, our attitudes and willing dependence on technology does. When used in tandem with the artist technology can open new doors and create new and exciting ideas.
well I think wbat he means is through ease of use we tend to follow patterns that technology provides for us, because technology helping artists is always centered and built around experience and what is accepted and done by the majority rather than breaking ground. I mean looking at certain tools, like say photoshop for an artist they do limit your style and the art you create to a degree simply by the way brushes work work and how colors interact with each other
"[Technology] doesn't make you a more creative person." Whole new musical genres have been created thanks to technology. What's more creative than that?
Technology makes things better. Electric guitars? Amps? ELECTRIC POWER? LOL. Jack's an amazing artist and musician but I have to disagree on his logic. Without modern technology he wouldn't be where he is today. Wouldn't be rich and comfortable. Period.
Jack white is awesome

Finally got to see him live few days ago and I´d say, it´s unlikely.

He is talking about creativity though, not the production.
