This is one of my favorites! It SMOKES many more expensive bourbons in my opinion.
I was lucky enough to see him live 1 month before he passed -- what an amazing artist.

EW BiB might be the best way to spend $15 in a liquor store. It's really solid and clean tasting. As a stand alone pour it's a good sipper. It just doesn't compare well to higher shelved selections. Thank you, sir.
Eh, in my neck of the woods Four Roses is in the same price range as EW BIB, and it's a damn fine bourbon as well, great value.

Where are you buying Evan Williams bib for $15 in my area for a liter bottle of Evan Williams bib it is $46 and that's both for white label and black label and Evan Williams honey

Evan Williams has been the general go to in my family for 3 generations. Daily sipper, to base for cough medicine (whiskey, lemon & honey).

The undisputed king of value to quality whiskey ever produced it’s 18! Dollars a bottle and kills almost anything under 65 dollars a bottle.
You picked my favorite! Not only for availability but for price. I'm drinking it as I watch. The best 100 proof whiskey I know!

@@SpyvsSpy-yl9ip Wild Turkey 101 is a significantly different Bourbon. Evan Williams BiB is less sharp with emphasis on sweet caramel. WT 101 displays more of the rye characteristics of spice and a slight heat. I personally prefer the sweetness of Evan Williams BiB over Wild Turkey 101 and the price difference is significant when you move up to a handle where I live (WT is over $15 more). Not hating on WT101 either. They just provide different experiences and what people might prefer is preference.

Too funny! I literally watched the making of Wallflowers documentary this afternoon and this evening I perused my local Grocers bourbon section and ended up walking out with a bottle of Evan Williams bottled in bond and then on the drive home I listen to this review. For those of you keeping score Southern California $20.99 regular price on sale this week for 1499
That’s a good whiskey. It’s absolutely lovely.
I didn't expect much from this bottle but I was surprised. There's no mistaking its flavor profile for anything but a good classic bourbon. it's quite sweet, mid flavored, not too hot or too complex, and to me has a decent mouth feel for a low priced buy (I'm not fond of thin watery bourbons.) It's 2024 and it's still selling for 17 dollars. I enjoyed it neat. I'll buy it again. Easy sipper, easy on the wallet and readily available.
Right on! It is really nice, but given a choice and buying Texas pints I think WT 101 for a few bucks more is worth it. Evan Williams BIB beats any of the benchmark line but that’s just me 🫡

I just tried this after buying it from the Whiteman AFB Shoppette for $12! Wow… Really nice: very sweet caramel and butterscotch flavors
An even better Heaven Hill BiB budget Bourbon in my opinion is JTS Brown, which comes in a 1L bottle with a MSRP of $9.99. Damn good value, and classic Bourbon you can sip or not feel bad about mixing and cocktails with it either.

A buddy of mine old me he found it in Las Vegas, but I haven't been able to find it in Phoenix, AZ. I've heard so many good things about it.
I've always considered Evan Williams to be rot-gut shit, but a few months ago I decided to give their Bottled in Bond a try. I mean, it's not the best thing I've ever had, but for the price, I can't think of anything that compares. It beats lot of mid-tier whiskeys, but for a bottom shelf price. These days the budget doesn't stretch as far as it used to, so this is quickly becoming my go-to.
I prefer it on the rocks, but it's acceptable neat. I get mostly caramel and vanilla on the nose, and a sweet vanilla taste that fades into tannins. After I've finished drinking, I sometimes find myself sitting there and smelling the empty glass; after the remaining liquid has evaporated, the smell of saw dust makes me think back to 8th grade shop class.
Tom Petty in concert before he died was great, but Tom Petty in concert after he died was a whole nother experience.
I might feel badly about that joke, but this is a channel about spirits.
Ya... After he died concert was amazing. I have a jar of that green bud sitting right here. I can go there when ever I want...
Really enjoying this year's DIY calendar. Bravo for doing whiskey that are quintessentially Whiskey Tribe.
I love Evan Williams BIB, but I think it's not drinkable neat, it's so great on rocks or with a splash of water for me I love it with crushed ice

You really break it down to where you can really imagine and taste.

Not that I wanna be "That Dude" Tom Petty's album was Wildflowers, not Wallflowers
My first (and last) time seeing Petty was his last concert in Minneapolis. My dad turned me on to him. Had heard him on the radio before as a kid, but didn't have an appreciation for his music till much later in life. A fantastic experience. Favorite was everyone lighting up for "Mary Jane's Last Dance."
My favorite thing to do is drop a single 1in square ice cube in a glass, pour the EW BiB (and occasionally WT101), wait 1 to 2 mins, and sip.
Tastes like heaven.
After watching this video l went back and listened to Tom Petty's Wallflowers and Fleetwood Mac's Rumors while sipping on Evan Williams Bottled IN Bond. What a great comparison and a great pairing of a spirit and music.
My Favorite
I FEEL Fleetwood Mac's Don't Stop when I'm drinking EW:BiB. Mostly because that was what was playing when I first tried this bourbon. Just like I think of Hank Williams Jr. anytime I even smell Jack Daniels.
The Tom Petty Reference... I poured a dram and turned up American Girl, and Damn if that song and that Bourbon don't go together perfectly!

Odd how much more positive this session with EW-BiB is versus your master of malt calendar session... haha. I really enjoy this bourbon for the money, mostly because of how unique the nose and flavor offerings are.

Drinking this (again) while watching. I'm with you but get strong pepper from it mid and late, for price range easily one of my favorites. Three water drops here knocks down the strong perfume for me and mellows the pepper a lot.
Can't go wrong with any of Evan Williams offerings.

My fav cocktail making Bourbon
I don't get the apple pie fragrance, but I get wet oak leaves, over ripe stone fruit, western incense cedar and fresh split oak firewood. It smells like a rain soaked Fall. The sips are slightly herbal with hard caramel candy. The ethanol is a backseat component to the taste and mouth feel. It adds flavor enhancement instead of being the first thing i noticed. After a few minutes the lingering tastes I pick up is browned butter and cinnamon tea. It's the best American made whiskey I've ever had. Geez... It's $13 a fifth.
I’m 53 smoke the best and drink all bourbon under. $30 all bourbons but Evan Williams is what i always go back to to reset it goes down so easy youll get really fucked up
in my opinion this is a exceptionally good bourbon for the price. I always have a bottle on hand.
Probably the best value in the liquor store.sure there are better bourbans but they are 3 or 4× the price or more and they are not 3× better just slightly better.i drink this several times a week and drink the higher end bourbon occasionally. Big fan of this.

I agree, that Beam funky nutty flavor comes through in Evan Williams BiB. Old Grand Dad BiB/114 has a very similar nutty note, like sweet walnuts on both the nose and palate. First thing that jumped out to me about EW BiB!
I get mostly a creamy peanutbutter on the palate. really enjoy it during the hot summer but never really drink it when its cold out
Why not do a Spotify playlist for all the whiskies.
Now I have to go listen to the “Wallflower” album. Not complaining!

If you go back to Day 1 or 2, he spends some time explaining that he's describing the whiskey(s), etc. in terms of musical compositions.

My biggest beef with this whiskey are people who say this is good, but then say Blanton's is bad.
It's all about expectations. I can buy four bottles of EW BiB for the price of one Blantons (and that's if you can even find it at MSRP). Blantons is a great bourbon, but is it four times as good? Not for my tastes.
Guilty....I wouldn't call Blanton's bad, but no matter how many times I try it, it just never lives up to the hype. Evan Williams BiB is one bottle I'm never without.
Blanton's is definitely in the 35-45 dollar range of quality which is good but it's overpriced. I'd rather buy Bib Evan Williams over it as the value is there!
