I want to thank you guys for being so fair with the telling of what happened. Alot of people would dramatize it and make it seem like the shark is a "bad guy" but you guys just told it like it was. Well done, stay safe and tight lines!
What are you talking about? They said the shark was very aggressive, the thing rammed the kayak, if the dude fell in the water he probably would have got attacked or eaten. And the shark is a bad guy as far as we are concerned, just like rattlesnakes and grizzly bears and polar bears. They sure ain’t your friends 🤣🤣
"The thing about a shark, it's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When it comes at you it doesn't seem to be livin'... until he bites you, and those black eyes roll over white."
Yeah! Because we got great whites from the Gulf of Mexico to Halifax Nova Scotia, and Baja to Washington state. Also can’t forget all the Bears, mountain Lion, Jaguar, and yes, there are Jaguar in America. People seem to forget there are wild animals in the United States when they live in cities.
Thank the Lord our Father in Heaven was watching over you men. I grew up three miles from the ocean and all we did was spend time in and around the water. God Bless you and your loved ones in your future adventures.
I love kayaking, this scenario is always on the back of my mind. I once flipped my yak in great white territory, I was worried that the splash I had caused was gunna attract a white. Pure terror. Say safe.
Woah, that's some crazy stuff, dude. Was scuba diving in Guadalupe this year, great white's can become MASSIVE animals. Glad you captured it on video, I gues you will never forget this experience in your life.
The Great Whites that prowl South African waters are renowned for taking dramatic leaps out of the water. Paddling about in a flimsy kayak in an area where those 2-tonne flesh-devouring machines routinely get airborne, is a really good way to become part of the oceanic food chain. Best of luck in your future adventures, fellas. Rather you than me ha ha.
Had same thing happen to me in Adelaide SA. I was in a 2m $99 dollar Kmart kayak and was about 3 km off shore in about 3.5 m seas . Had a 5 to 5.5m bumping me for about 20 minutes . Scary part was when shark was behind me in the wave above me. 27 years ago my diving buddy got eaten by a great white so I have no bones in saying I was shiting myself . Albeit laughing about it with my mate in the kayak next 2 me. Funniest part was I had a diving knife with me and I put it in my mouth as I paddled . When I turned my head I stabbed myself in the shoulder and blood went everywhere. This made my mate almost fall off his kayak laughing . Havnt gone out that far again . Last summer they measured a 7meter white straight out front of my house where we were . They actually had the rescue helicopter lower it's self to the water to use it as a gauge to measure this monster. Actually they are beautiful creatures when swimming calmly. Not so beautiful when they roll the eyes and pop the blood gums. Stuff of nightmares. I havnt been scuba diving in South Australia for 27 years funny enough. And there's a lot of them nowadays. Seen 6 in last 4 years and seen 3 my 44 years before hand and I grew up on the water.
Shark numbers are going up from the protections placed on’em. We can expect to see attacks on the rise (not saying they should be hunted 😅, it’s just truth).
@@PsychologicalApparition They are going up for sure but today we also have technology thats getting better and better like drones etc to help surfers etc. The cost of paying a few people to fly drones i high risk areas is nothing coompared to the cost of flying a chopper over the beach that really gives little protection unless the shark is there at that moment. There are also new wetsuit designs about to hit the market that a white will not be able to cut thru from a bite. Yes the surfer will be hurt but it makes it unlikely to die of blood loss. These suits are not heavy or stiff either and i think the start at about 900 dollars. Worth a look if sharks scare you.
No worries mate!!! He was just feeling you out. Lucky he didn't have it in him to give it a go. Just paddle back to shore and pop the top off of a tall one and toss another shrimp on the baahhbie ya crazy bloaks. Good on ya for not going willy nilly at first sight...Got all that from movies...you know what I mean.
man if i were in a kayak that got hit by a white shark i would be absolutely shitting myself.. you are lucky you didnt capsize man. glad you made it back safe and everyone walked away with a cool story to tell
They found two UCLA students’ kayaks bound together some years ago. The bottom of the female’s showed signs of a great blow from below. Her body was found later on. The dude’s wasn’t. Bottomline, I suppose: GW is gonna getcha if’n it wants ye. Bon appetit !

My nephew lives in northern California and he was out in his boat with a couple of friends! One of his friends decided that he wanted to paddle around in his Kayak while the rest were fishing in the big boat! 10 minutes in and Bam he goes flying 6 feet in the air and everyone on the boat sees a 17 to 18 foot great white shark! They hurry up and get the guy out of the water and into the big boat! They watched as the shark pushed the kayak around biting it and slapping it with its tail! Unless I'm in 30 feet of boat you couldn't get me in the ocean! The great white shark is a magnificent creature and beautiful but that doesn't change just how dangerous a hungry great white shark can be! People who swim and surf and Kayak in waters where these sharks are located are literally taking their lives in their hands! I have to ask why does it seem that the great white sharks are more aggressive in Australia than any where else? South Africa doesn't have the same amount of attacks like Australia does and neither does the United States! Australian great whites seem to be the most aggressive compared to everywhere else! Can you give me a clue as to why?
Yaboy No way. Thousands of people enjoy this, try to find one incident where this has resulted in injury or death...Comments like this cause people to stay stupid.
Agreed you can die but literally thousands of people occupy waters that large sharks & the number of attacks is minuscule if you the odds. But fuck being in a Kayak 😂
I'm pretty sure it was getting worked up over the fish you guys were catching, you gotta be careful cuz if more sharks come in and they get aggressive enough you can get caught in a feeding frenzy and then you're screwed.
Glad you're ok. Recently I was tuna fishing Guadalupe Island where I got a great view of several huge white sharks stealing tuna off our lines. After that demonstration I've decided to try to avoid putting myself in their sights. They are superb killing machines. Very powerful animals with mouths like bear traps and very small brains. Impressive, though... We had a 15-foot male launch himself completely out of the water next to our boat, like a whale.
You know it’s really amazing. There are dudes kayak fishing and spear fishing everyday in Oregon, Central CA, South Africa, western and south Australia, NZ. They’re out there!
I’m living in Kyiv. To understand, I had to use the same translate/listen skills I use to comprehend people speaking Russian! Wow. When language hits the line of beginning to become a new tongue.
Crazy stuff man! Scary for sure but in a way very cool just to see one. Think he was hunting those dolphins and got confused? Sure he thought he had a meal but then the fiberglass taste shocked him! Cheers man, tight lines
There’s quite a few videos of great whites and kayaks. I wonder if it has something to do with the shape of the kayak. It much like the shape of a seal, especially from underneath.
Shark probably thought of you as competition in its hunting grounds. I've read they can be territorial when hunting or during the breeding season. A kayak is a rather shark shaped vessel. Glad you weren't tipped out.
If it hit your kayak and you were still upright it was most likely just curious. If it was seriously attacking your kayak you would probably be swimming back to shore. Main question is where was you pdf?
If just cruising around, kayaking for fun, those skinny little kayaks are okay, I guess. You gotta get yourself something a little wider and more stable if you tryna fish off that thing, though. It’s all, “I’m not worried about that!” until Mother Nature reminds you who is in charge out there.
Can someone show me the timestamp where it actually "hits the kayak". I watched the video twice and couldn't find this "hit moment". Is it between 0:50 to 0:54? Thank you.
Dude you lucky,,your kayak balance out ,other wise you could have been in water facing those jaws....🤯 going forward I think having a bigger kayak or stabilizers could help fend off the shark,,,these things are big predators...
The shark is protecting it's food supply, or maybe it is protecting babies ! Who really knows why, but it's a good thing to get the hell out of there , maybe you should start carrying a good caliber bang stick just in case !

The “hit” didn’t happen. Save yourself some time.
To help prevent tipping over, I thought it is suppose to be very smart to pull the Kayaks together, and hold on to each others kayak for safety

Sharks can easily bite off a section of these boats. It's a piece of kayak.
Having a unibrow is more scary than that shark encounter.lol

Cool. He's gonna be shark food one day. Have safe kayakins

Great white sharks usually attack at dawn or dusk. Its not a surprise it attacked early in the morning.
0:29 sounds like he says "we had a couple drugs" Lol
LMFAO yes
"Great white hits the kayak from underneath"
Australian-"I think a fly just landed on my boat"
Great white-"Am i a joke to u?"
As S.A kayak fisherman you should be aware that medium to large white sharks develop as taste for uni brows.
Being in the water with a aggressive shark is a bit like being on dry land on a night with a full moon and a Werewolf.
Oh my ..... I would be absolutely 💩💩💩💩myself, was watching an interesting documentary of a new shark defence system for divers, kayaks and surfing
You should implement "trimaran" for kayak stability and your safety
Awesome content you have got right here.
Good job, Brad. You kept your cool, and even marveled at the experience
Glad you got out of it ok!
As soon as my kayak hit the water the other guys would have thought I had a 135 optimax on the back as fast as I'd been paddling.
Wow....do you see what the movie JAWS has done to us...u weren't scared at all...wow...shows you, dont panic and u can manage any situation...wow...

If that had been a bull shark it may not have given up as they get really annoyed sometimes. Great whites seem pretty laid back about life generally.
OMG good thing he didn't fall in the water!
Here is a tip. Never go where you are not at the top of the food chain......without an equalizer. You're welcome.
Humans are always at the top of the food chain. We're just as capable of killing them as the are of killing us.
