Robert when you laugh before saying something that’s embarrassing for you is so PRECIOUS! I have the biggest smile, it makes me happy. Lol. You’re adorable!
if i didn’t know that this is his old makeup technique, i would say this is the makeup that Robert would do to let us know he was kidnapped and needs help
Lol so true like robert if you need help please send us a message in your next video and bake your face!
YAAASSS 🤣😜Robert’s visual signals for S.O.S. would be him BAKING his face in a ton of powder 🤨, slapping on the triangles for concealer and concealer for eyeshadow primer 😬 and the topper for the silent scream for help would be him wearing the brightest, most offensive lipstick 💄 shade he would never wear in a billion years...👍🏽oh and he’d fill in the scar on his eyebrow... and talk about how much he loves doing so 🤨👍🏽🤣👍🏽
“Apologies to younger me, you did what you had to do.” I love that lol, I want it on a pin.
“I contoured my nose, to a point where it looked....how would u describe it.......stupid” 💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😂
My boyfriend was watching you saying "hmm" every time you said something informational. 😂 You even captivate people who have no interest in makeup. He also says "hi Robert" now whenever I play your videos.
I started doing my makeup in the early 90s. It was a tough time for everyone. Tragic eyebrows plucked to death. You could drive a truck in between them. Frosted everything, no contouring, color matching foundation was non-existent. Blending was for margaritas. If you haven't watched Jamie French's 90s tutorial, give it a tumble. Your look was light years ahead of my early days and Hell probably still is! This was fun to watch. I enjoyed you roasting yourself.
Omg 🥺 thank you for that!!!! 🤍 you know you’re my fav 😉😘 loved this!!! Lol my nose contour back then had me dead.
I was going to comment on your video to come watch this cause he mentioned you (ironically I just finished watching your video and this was the next recommended video).
@@kelsey2333 I remember Katy talking about this! I have yet to see any of the elf adds she's in... and I watch a lot of UA-cam videos.😩
How are his old horrible techniques look way better than my best makeup 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
robert laughing without even finishing his sentence is what i came for today
robert's so kind he apologized to a version of himself that doesn't even exist anymore 😂😂
Robert, I really felt your apology to your younger self. We are so quick to judge our past selves and regret past choices, and beat ourselves up over them. But thinking about how that past self would feel, of they saw me bashing then and treating them like that, changed my mindset. Yes, we should grow, but we should also respect how we got things done the way we knew how. We could all use self-compassion. Amid your entertaining and funny videos (I lol'd at "parallel?"), thank you for your heartfelt advice and your light.
Robert: "A chef will cook food they hate for people who like it."
Me: *A culinary student* This speaks to me on another level..
I love it when Robert touches his face and makes that squeal! It’s a total vibe.
"This guy needs a face! Quick, draw one on!" 🤣
Those pained noises of embarrassment give me life
I can picture Robert looking at himself doing this and saying, “This looks fine...yeah it’s fine.” 🤣
"Thank you for joining me today" with that voice today sounded like I'm welcomed into some dark cult and I love it 😂
You are the first Facebook content creator I’ve ever watched and I cannot stop watching!!!
"Parallel?" The word you were searching for was perpendicular. You're wonderful Robert. I absolutely love your channel.
@@yeeyee5160LOL I know it’s sad, I couldn’t think of the word perpendicular.
That part about doing make-up on yourself versus others is so relatable. I was trying to show my sister how I do my eyeliner and I COULD NOT do it on her to save my life. We have very similar eyes and yet turning my brush about 180 degrees had me fully stumped.
Can we just acknowledge how Robert even apologizes to his past self?! How adorable and kind is that?! I had a sweet laugh at him dragging his past self but hey, thanks so much for the reminder to be kind to your past self too. It's what got you to today
I think that he is secretly Canadian, the way he apologizes. LOL!!!
Nobody in their 30's now knew what blending was when they started makeup. That is just fact XD I love this video, thank you!
Your laughter is everything
Once it's safe to have models again I'd love to see you do eye makeup on someone with monolids. There's so few resources, I'm really just having to do so much trial and error and it's frustrating
I absolutely love the K-beauty looks as well as dome Japanese Beauty looks! Would love to see a make up artist do the same look on a monolid as a double eye lid, as I don't see the techniques for k beauty on double eyelids either. It's a shame there isn't more cross over for monolids and double lids. You are gorgeous btw!
Me and my best friend always talk about how we never used to do our eyebrows at all. So we would have a full face of make up and no brows.
I also never used to wear lip product so heavy foundation and eye make up...no lips or brows 😭😂
I'm grateful for what I've learned and techniques I've picked up from UA-cam x
😂😂😂 this was a thing! And also, flesh lips no brows no blush jjst black and silver eyes with loads of mascara! It was all eyes!
@@jennycull1061 neither do I. I have no idea what I’m doing or what they’re supposed to look like when done so the most I do is trim and tweeze...occasionally haha
I love this ❣️ I'm at the eyebrows & lip color part & I can tell by ur expressions that if you didn't have so much foundation on U'd be blushing bc u feel embarrassed ♥️♥️♥️ We ALL want to tell our younger self SOMETHING 🤣🤣 Some of this is SO HARD 2 BELIEVE!! UR the BLENDING KING!!!! NO blending can't imagine you doing it this way. I think ur technique is phenomenal!!! ☮️♥️💋
I can’t imagine Robert without his beard. Hoping for some throwback pictures on his and James new shared channel!
Yes I would LOVE to see pics of Robert without a beard and James with a fringe! 😊
I wanna see that black eyeshadow phase...I had a heavy liner, top lid only phase.
He did share 1 photo without his beard. I couldnt recognize him!!! Still handsome
I used to be all about powder, specifically the Covergirl powder compact that smelled like Noxema. No liquid foundation, just concealer to cover any zits and then powder. I thought it made my skin look smooth and even. Then I got glasses and realized the powder made me look dusty, it was my crap eyes that were making things look smoother than they were.
I wish everyone could see me through my uncorrected eyes. They're like a personal blurring filter. 😂
This is why I ask friends and family. They think me odd for asking, but I genuinely can't see properly 🤣
Social distancing was the best time for my complexion because everyone was at least 2 meters away, it was like lowering the resolution on my face hahha
Anyone else been staring at UA-cam waiting for the new Welsh twins vid to drop?
“Maybe the lighting was different” that’s now my go to saying when I look bad. Lol 😂
"MY OLD HORRIBLE MAKEUP TECHNIQUES!"
Me about makeup techniques I did up until last week lmao
@@RobertWelsh poor robert hahahahahaha .... if it makes you feel any better i was a teen learning how to do my own makeup back in the LATE NINETIES!!! lmfaooooo bright yellow color corrector like i had jaundice and eyebrows so small they could have blown away in the wind 🙈😂😂😂
@@MouseGeist1 hahahaha actually i still do that, although i do the top waterline too as well .... i have really heavily hooded eyes so waterline liner or push liner with shadow are super flattering on me. So i kept that one around and just upgraded it a bit.
It’s The calming Tone of his voice and the laugh for me 🥰..... who else only wore blue eye shadow .. and I have blue eyes and rimmed the water line with electric blue .. jeez !! Thank goodness for UA-cam videos and influencers like Robert !!!!
I'm so glad we get to see this look.."have you got one of those triangle sponges" lol x
Robert--eye primer we don’t know her👀😭😭😳. This video had me dead🥱⚰️! Hilarious ! #colorblocked those eyelids ⭐️ lol. I love you so much💖🖤🖤🖤
Robert !!!! I do hair and makeup professionally at ULTA and listening to your videos makes it SO MUCH EASIER for me to explain to guest what products do what. Love you so much ! Thanks for everything, and I love the new joint channel as well 🖤🖤🖤🖤
This is why I follow you. Unapologetically honest and it’s amazing. Never stop.
I feel like I learn more from watching the mistakes/regrets of makeup. This is fascinating ♡
Same, it brings everything full circle, watching gurus, switching to Robert, then seeing those exact techniques Robert regrets
I really like the lip color!!!
The end result is something we’ve been conditioned for so long to perceive as beautiful, as this doesn’t look too bad for me at all. Amazing how preferences and techniques change over time.
Your giggles at thinking back at you techniques is Everything!!! Love your channel and all your content. Have a phenomenal day!!
Use this is a "dream matte mousse was my biggest make up mistake" button
It was intense... Though, to bei fair, some people still use it to this day 😱
The way you speak is like a warm blanket on my soul. Just what I need during a rough day like today!
Old horrible techniques? Lies! I can't believe that you could ever had horrible techniques. Robert and bad techniques don't go together lol I love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh my God! Naughty Nauticals was one of my fave MAC collections of all time when I was about 18 and absolutely obsessed with their products. I think I still have my most beloved lipstick from that collection kicking around - Port Red. Hahaha!
My darling, Robert. This look was a product of it's time. You still look FABULOUS!!
Your voice is the most calming thing ever...but also both you twins kill me when you laugh. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
When I was starting out with makeup. The biggest mistake I made was using so much concealer like how the UA-cam gurus did it.
Ever since I found this channel my makeup as improved big time with the base (primer, foundation, concealer, powder)
Love the way you guilty chuckle when you are about to start a step 😂 I used to use eyeshadow for everything!! Eyebrows, contour, blusher, bronzer you name it 😳
When I was a teenager it was a thing to overpluck your eyebrows, so you ended up with two very thin lines! The orange foundation was also amazing...
Yeees and sadly mine won't grow back now. Wish I could reverse time! Don't think I'll ever have those nice fluffy brows in the front again lol
Robert I love watching you. I love learning from you. I also love seeing your journey of growth. You sure have grown from 13 yrs ago. I’m so happy that I found your channel. Every since I found you I haven’t stopped watching.
Aw Robert showing his former self kindness is what we all need in 2020 🖤
My old funny makeup moments are now, as a beginner at 50 😂😂😂 Your's turned out better than mine...lol...Your laugh is everything...contagious...😀😀 Thanks for the laughs, tips and encouragement...❤️
God I am so glad I figured out how to do makeup. The fact that anyone let me leave the house looking like that is just incredible.
Oh to be a teenager in the mid 90s and 00s! This makeup style would have been my go to if I could sharpen that eyeshadow edge as well as you did, Robert!! 😅🤣🤣
I love that you speak like a normal human being, not ridiculously exaggerated and shouting your head off like most YT people 👏🏻
Awww the apology to.younger you literally made me tear up. I love watching you. Thank you for everything. ❤
Okay, Anyone else notices how good Robert's hair is looking!...
I learned to do a halo eye by watching you. My efforts were recently scrutinized by a relative, that harshest of critics, the teenage girl. She said: "I love your eye makeup, I couldn't have done it that well". I nearly fell over. THANK YOU, ROBERT!😘
Me hoping that Robert also used to stripe white eyeliner on top the black to make me feel better about it 😆😆
Happy Holidays Robert🖤 I laughed so hard at you and your brother’s latest video on the way home from work the other night. I was in tears so thank you for that🖤🤷🏻♀️
this is the best thing about you that you tell the right techniques and
not only just makeup videos or some misleading techniques as other MUAs do
Oh honey I am self taught and growing up in the 80’s and early 90’s ...the pastel glitter light blue eyeshadow with the red Bonne Bell lippie lol ...I tell my daughters I paid my due to the makeup gods lol !🤣 I have told them all about you and hopefully they will listen because I have learned so much from you and I love videos and I am grateful for all the great advise & tricks .
I love that you are always learning and teaching us new skills.
You’ve come a long way....hate the technique back then. Love what you do now. I think you’re awesome....
Aahhh my day is already complete! ☺️♥️
I just love Robert’s little giggle. ☺️
I started doing my makeup in high school. I was completely Gothic. Nothing but black eyeshadow and black eyeliner. All black clothes. Now I LOVE color. I still do some dark looks, but its mainly bright and colorful looks.
I'm already chuckling with your descriptions and then YOU lose it. I'm KO'd! 😂 😂 You're the best!
I can't wait to see what james keeps dragging you about
What’s j going on about? The kid can’t even pick out his own foundation.
Just watching this video & I started to tear up when you apologized to your younger self. You are so gracious when you comment on other people's videos, which is one of the reasons I love to watch your vids. It was lovely to see you acknowledge younger you.
I'm "of a certain age" & have learned a great deal from my mistakes. I have also learned a lot from you.
As a woman in her 40's who doesn't wear makeup all the time but likes to play with it every so often I appreciate you and your knowledge!
Naughty Nauticals was one of my favorite collections 😊 thank you for reminding me to look for that palette lol
I have had a headache for over a week and the second I heard that smooth jazz voice, I felt a little less miserable. Thank you 🙏🏻
And I did the same when I was younger- black eyeliner and eyeshadow were my most important make up items. They never made a black black enough in my opinion. Now I never use black, and I suddenly miss it..
Ok, first of all Freckletone looks great on you! Don't apologize for still loving it. Secondly, as a professional educator of many, many years, I love that you always emphasize the importance of learning. Finally...Catherine Zeta-Jones has a makeup line?! What?! I can't even begin to say what my most embarrassing makeup was, because I was an 80s girl. It was all fabulous, fun, and entirely cringeworthy!
Can we all just take a moment and appreciate Robert's vid thumbnails and keeping them CUTE?!?! 💖🤣💋
"Asking for help isn't weakness or a reflection of your skills". Lessons for life, not just for makeup. And I love this so much - makes me feel better about myself and my "skills": we all learn. Old technique- I used to take a matte brown and apply it super hard on my upper lash line and sort of fade it out into and above the crease. It wasn't... blended per se but it wasn't a harsh line. It wasn't done at the time (15 or so years ago) and I actually gave up on makeup for a long time because I thought I was crap at it. But it was sort of... proto blending? I want to go back and give former me a hug, I was doing OK.
I'm so glad I learned that spot concealing doesn't really work if the product you're using is like 5 shades too dark for you and super orange compared to your skin. Yes, I did try spot concealing with Dream Matte Mousse. No, it did not work
The willy nose! Absolutely classic! I remember so many people walking round with one.
It's always interesting to look at our past mistakes 😅
I LOVE your honesty... I LOVE your tips... and I LOOOOOOVE that I feel your the same on set as you are in person... that matters SOOOO much to me and is something that is also important for me in building my own channel❤️.
“I kind of still like it 👀...sorry everyone 😬” same 👏🏻😂
This is hysterical!!! You still look gorgeous...
"Oh this guy needs a face, quick draw one on" Laughed out loud! I love your sense of humor so much Robert. Thank you!
I’m only 2 minutes in and I can tell you that your videos alone have taught me so much more skill from my norm that I appreciate so much. Thanks for putting so much work into your videos and tutorials!
Heyy! Really really enjoy all your videos and you truly have me laughing out loud with the videos of you and your brother! Xx
I have to keep my inhaler nearby when listening to the podcast or watching Welsh Twins, because I laugh-wheez 😂🥵
LOL I couldn't stop laughing at your multiple reactions to your then makeup techniques. Thank you Robert for sharing your thoughts, experience and advice.
This foundation is so scary to me! I wonder how it would sit on my nearly 48 year old combo skin??!!? Love your videos! Thank you for your incredibly gifted talents and teachings! Blessings to you!!
When I started using makeup, I would watch beauty tutorials. When they would use concealer to highlight under the eyes, and then use highlighter everywhere else, I didn’t really catch the difference. SO I PUT SHIMMERY HIGHLIGHTER UNDER MY EYES, RIGHT WHERE I HAVE LARGE PORES. I only stopped bc I was walking outside and the shimmer reflected the sunlight into my eyes and I almost went blind
The skin under my eyes is paler (bluer) then the rest of my face. The idea of putting highlighter there to draw attention to my lack of sleep makes me laugh 😅
I don’t want you to feel alone in the horror so here’s my version, which isn’t a makeup one but close.
I was really into the whole scene kid fringe across the entire forehead and one of the eyes. I wore my hair like that for so long that one of my eyes is a vastly different prescription than the other. -3.75 in one, and -4.50 in the other 😂
Also thanks to your advice I no longer drag my makeup across my face and eye lids tapping and blotting has changed the game for me and now its second nature to tap it into the skin your the first beauty channel i started watching and I AM SO GLAD i did not fall in with the youtubers i feel like they give off the vibe that they are proffessional MUA and its not the case
This just reminds me of 11 yr old me thinking I was hot stuff with frosted blue eyeshadow and my friend convinced me to try her new blue lipstick. Awful look, great memory as my friend passed away about a year ago at 30.
@@nisrinarnouk4373 nice we also would layer blue over black because she had went to Claire's and bought crazy colors. So we'd look like we had black lipliner with a blue center. Bet your lips were very exfoliated.
Bobbi Obanion lol VERY exfoliated. I’m happy we were brave enough to experiment though. I think it would be cool to try weird stuff again ❤️
OMMG!!! That eyeshadow brought back so many memories of my first year in university... noooooooo!!!!!!
I remember being at school and EVERY girl would cake their faces in the orangest pressed powder over the face but never blended into the neck. Next, we wore either Rimmel's Coffee Shimmer or Heather Shimmer lipstick whilst spraying head to foot in Exclamation! Body spray - happy days.
@@mariad.6618 it seemed to be the universal look amongst girls in the early 90's for sure.
Everyone of a certain age had Heather Shimmer. Still think of it fondly 😂
I still wear Heather shimmer 😅 Gotta say though I avoided the obsessive body spray and orange foundation craze
You have THE BEST laugh! I always giggle with you. Thanks for making us smile.
I did my eyes that way too 😂 except I hated shimmers and glitters and would just use matte white shadow🤣 And black eyeliner for the waterline 😅
So fun to see where we've come from and how much we have grown. I used to wear straight white eyeliner on top leashes with silver eyeshadow. "So editorial!". Lol
I'm so excited for today 🖤🖤 Katie is so talented 😩 such a good Sunday, thank you Robert 🖤🖤
This video gives me flashbacks of me doing my makeup in the 90’s!! Omg thinking about it, I used the triangle sponges, so much foundation, never did my brows, soooo bad 🤦♀️ I’m 42 now and I’ve learned so much thru the years!!
