  • Are you considering quitting your antipsychotic medication?
Before making any decisions, it's important to understand the facts about antipsychotics and their risks. In this video, Lyle addresses some of the most important questions people have about quitting antipsychotics.
Many people who were put on antipsychotics were put on them in a crisis situation. But does that really define who they are to the point of needing a lifetime of anesthetizing? While each situation is different, most people would be surprised to learn what impact a bad diet, blood sugar problems, marijuana use, and other rectifiable variables have on their mental health. Also, there are genetic contributors that can often be circumnavigated with environmental and orthomolecular methodologies to provide additional support to vulnerable dispositions.

    Advantages of Antipsychotic Tapering
Antipsychotic medications can harm, most notably over long-term use. And there is evidence to support that not all persons need to be on antipsychotic medications for life. The good news is that it is possible to accomplish antipsychotic titration or even completely eliminate the need for these heavy medications in many cases. The roadmap for achieving the best results is to do so in tandem with efforts to reduce or even eliminate the original symptoms that led to the prescription in the first place. Finding root causes and addressing what is found can make the difference between success and failure in treatment.
This is the foundation of antipsychotic tapering success at Alternative to Meds Center.
While these may seem like broad sweeping statements, studies are showing that both atypical and other forms of antipsychotic drugs can at times be avoided and replaced with much less toxic treatments that do not harm the patient and tend to have better compliance. Compromising a patient’s health through unnecessary or over-prescribing harsh, heavy antipsychotic medication has been subjected to much scrutiny and even criticism. There is now sufficient evidence to show that other non-drugging methods of help may be more beneficial to recovery in certain cases.
Researchers have noted that even in cases of schizophrenia, many unmedicated patients do better long-term without antipsychotics. Alternative to Meds Center has found this to be true as well, however, this statement we feel would be irresponsible to extend to ALL patients. Careful discernment is truly warranted for good candidates.
    Finding Better Methods of Help
A study out of the UK found that out of 102 subjects suffering from symptoms of schizophrenia, not a single one had a diet that met even the minimum standards of proper nutrition. And, another UK study showed the dramatic impact that changes to the diet had in eliminating symptoms of schizophrenia.
Diet and nutrition are some of the foundations of effective treatment useful for mitigating and eliminating unwanted symptoms and lessening the need for medication.

Yeah I had a seizure last time I tried cold turkey off of abilify. Some say the NHS is great..... it is but the often one size fits all approach with psych drugs is rather 💩 for example - there is no system they have for detoxing people. You have to go private in UK.
Been on psych drugs best part of 20 years now.... I was already 6 years dependent, when I started reading about how damaging they can be, especially long term... but even short term too at times.

I still find it funny that psychiatry called those drugs antipsychotics. You can experience breakthrough psychosis, positive symptoms because of the drug, withdrawal psychosis... they actually should be called propsychotics, I guess this name is a better fit.

More Informationen? Studies? I got medicamentinduced psychosis after i had to took several Neuroleptica and lithium and Valproatacid. 20 years of constucted psychosis when i quit them too quick. I got colon cancer (also a side effect of neuroleptica abuse!). I reduce Abilify over two years....step by step. Now i awake from a 20 year nightmare and i wonder why no officials talk about these side effects. Science is in the hand of the companies....thats a big problem.
I never had mania or psychosis! Since i took Psychopharmaka and reduced it to quick...i got this problems.....
