Wow, this triggered some memories. Struggled with polynomial division. Yet, It fascinated me ( don’t know why to this day), so I practiced on my own and had my teacher check it ( I still remember him fondly). In the end I aced it😊. Didn’t have to do it much after, explicitly, but I think the concept is still there, just hidden in other notations for higher dimensions and differentials (no worries, that’s way into college in engineering or math 😅).

I can see the value of synthetic division though but I admit I immediately saw that x-2 was not a factor. I did the math and there was a remainder. I never ran into synthetic division in HS so thanks for the lesson.

Woah, wait!! You didn't show an answer. What do you do with the other numbers you derived? I'm looking for a polynomial answer, here, right?

So I divide by (x-2) when I'm evaluating f(x) at f(2). Looks like a divide by zero issue to me.

Was I supposed to learn this in Algebrea II in high school? Suffice to say, I didn't.

    🙋I enjoy the lessons. 👍
Quick question. Can you give me some examples how problems like this are used in daily living?

You could ask the same question about woodworking. Yet they made me take that class too. Never once have I had a workbench with a set of vices at home. Nor have I ever built a piece of furniture or even a butter knife since leaving school. I guess that was a lot of time wasted, right?

@@KennethSorling Third attempt at posting hence I'm going to try replying in 2 parts....Pt 1: To your question my answer is...Absolutely not!! Kudos to you for acquiring that skill.👍
Although I do not see how the ability to solve these complicated math problems will ever benefit me I nevertheless watch them religiously as though ordered by law.😁 I just wanted to know if he ever needed the knowledge outside of teaching it.
Looking at and considering our manufactured collapsing economy, republic and religious freedom... priorities apparently are sorting themselves.

This guy is irritating: spends the first half of the presentation saying how good he is as a teacher, promoting his other videos and stating that he can't explain what he is doing

He did a proper intro giving the audience evidence that he knows what he is doing.
You weren't FOCUSED and heard something else.
BTW, that is standard practice in a professional presentation. Imagine not introducing what you are about to present, fail to even state your name and have zero credentials to verify yourself to a professional board of directors. Spoiler alert... you'll get embarrassed.

This was the first time I've seen him do that and then rush through the problem with incomplete explanations. Normally everything is painfully over-explained and I'm mashing the forward button again and again.
