It’s kind of sad how this game was. It was the 3rd Flatout game that came after two really good mainline games along with a remaster of the second. The third game was put into the wrong hands cause the original company who made it was running out of money and had to outsource. It’s kind of a tragedy how such a great game series fell so much and has struggled to recover since ever since the old developers moved on.

It's definitely one of those "you had to be there" moments. Nowadays it would just be seen as a mediocre game that looked the same as the other games of the era. But this game destroyed the Flat out franchise which were classics on par with the burnout franchise (in my opinion). The only thing it had going for it was that it was a finished game, which just goes to show how low your bar for quality is.

I think it got bad reviews for the same reason Pokémon sword and shield got bad reviews. They aren’t inherently *horrible* games, and they definitely aren’t the worst games ever, but they tarnish the quality and reputation of the franchise. So all the fans who supported said franchise are offended at what something they love has become that they rate it probably a little bit harsher than they probably should have. (Even if the game still deserves a bad rating, just not that bad.)

I absolutely adored when they transferred Eric Speed’s likeness from Ghost Rider 3 into Flatout, nothing was more ambitious than obtaining the license to utilize Eric Speed’s name and character.
It's honestly not that bad. If this game had a different name it would not be so hated. It's got multiple game modes, let's you be a monster truck, and the physics are bonkers. Like you'll barely get slammed and you go flying 200 feet in the air like it's low gravity on a trampoline. Anyway, I'm not saying the game is worth playing because wreckfest is far better, but at least FO3 had some personality & variety

Flatout 2 was one of my childhood games, loved it then, loved it now. Looking at Flatout 3 there's a clear difference right at the start from quality from the first two titles to the third one. Ever since Flatout 3's release, the franchise has never been able to recover well. Hopefully they make a new good Flatout game sometime soon or else the franchise is going to fall off into irrelevancy and will never recover. Sad to see such a once great franchise turn into a bad one nontheless :/

It’s not that the game is “bad” it’s the fact that everything has to be “perfect” imagine wwe no mercy coming out in 2022 people would rage. I would honestly hate to be a game developer today. They have so much stress I’m sure it’s unreal. If one detail is off or something doesn’t sit right people instantly boycott the company. Maybe I’m just to much of a 90’s kid to where I’m satisfied with simply getting to play a game.
I think the reviews are because of how much of a downgrade this game is from flatout 2, which was just better in every way. As a standalone game, it's just meh, but as a part of the flatout series it's awful.

I think it got bad reviews for the same reason Pokémon sword and shield got bad reviews. They aren’t inherently *horrible* games, and they definitely aren’t the worst games ever, but they tarnish the quality and reputation of the franchise. So all the fans who supported said franchise are offended at what something they love has become that they rate it probably a little bit harsher than they probably should have. (Even if the game still deserves a bad rating, just not that bad.)

I absolutely adored when they transferred Eric Speed’s likeness from Ghost Rider 3 into Flatout, nothing was more ambitious than obtaining the license to utilize Eric Speed’s name and character.
It might just be me but this honestly looks like a fun game I would play every couple of days

It's honestly not that bad. If this game had a different name it would not be so hated. It's got multiple game modes, let's you be a monster truck, and the physics are bonkers. Like you'll barely get slammed and you go flying 200 feet in the air like it's low gravity on a trampoline.

Watch flatout 2 trailer then come back and compare it. It's basically the worst downgrade possible at the time. I guess this was the beginning of the incomplete, downgrades of games to come which is why it doesn't look to bad now but at the time this was blasphemous and basically ruined the series it's never been the same.

Flatout 2 was one of my childhood games, loved it then, loved it now. Looking at Flatout 3 there's a clear difference right at the start from quality from the first two titles to the third one. Ever since Flatout 3's release, the franchise has never been able to recover well. Hopefully they make a new good Flatout game sometime soon or else the franchise is going to fall off into irrelevancy and will never recover. Sad to see such a once great franchise turn into a bad one nontheless :/

It’s not that the game is “bad” it’s the fact that everything has to be “perfect” imagine wwe no mercy coming out in 2022 people would rage. I would honestly hate to be a game developer today. They have so much stress I’m sure it’s unreal. If one detail is off or something doesn’t sit right people instantly boycott the company. Maybe I’m just to much of a 90’s kid to where I’m satisfied with simply getting to play a game.
I think the reviews are because of how much of a downgrade this game is from flatout 2, which was just better in every way. As a standalone game, it's just meh, but as a part of the flatout series it's awful.
