For those who don't have it and say "it doesn't sound that bad", its terrible. You isolate yourself from places you are prone to start sweating: like crowded places, outside even etc. But this greatly affects your decisions on where you wanna go. I've skipped lots of party's and summer activities because of my extreme sweating. The terrible thing is, when you start sweating its almost impossible to stop (for me at least), I didn't get a summer job 2 years in a row because of this now.

I like that you share this!! I have hyperhidrosis everywhere (feet, armpits, hands) and I did an Iontophorese-therapy! Maybe you heard of it- if not, try it! It really helped me!! Good luck, mate!

It freakin' sucks to have sweaty palms
    - I can't text
    - I can't hold a bat
    - I can't do minute things
    - I have to wipe them every time in any fabric
    - My hands slip off the steering wheel while driving.
    - It brings social anxiety for no reason.
    - I have to change clothes/socks more frequently than others.
    - I cannot make a firm handshake , and it definitely has a negative impression in professional life
I am definitely going to have a surgery soon. RIP Hyperhidrosis!

I know how you feel most people sweat on their underarms. I swear on my hands to my feet and unfortunately my thighs. I used to sweat really bad in my underarns strangely it stopped after highschool. Now that I'm older i still deal with my hands, feet, and thighs. Just know it's okay. I know how it feels to have your hands basically cause it's own rain shower. I use cloth wheels so it doesn't slip while I drive. Try bathing in baking soda it helps my dad has hyperhydrosis an it makes a big difference. Stay strong because at the end of the day atleast you have hands an atleast it's not a life or death disorder. I hope I helped some :)

I know exactly how this feels. Sometimes I can't even do my hair. I hate the summer, bc I have to wear sandals or go barefoot. I stopped drawing. I quit dancing because we started to dance barefoot. I try to always wear socks inside no matter how warm it is. I also have a kind of neurodermatitis on my hands but I can't use something against it, it just makes me sweat more.

+Pill Box u cheeky shit. I imagine u too have it as why else would you be watching? yet you insult others. Why do people think it's ok to talk to people online this way? U are the archetypal troll. i truly believe folk that troll vulnerable people probably have inferiority complexes. They are insecure, have maybe been bullied badly, hence them trolling people randomly. They can't assert themselves in a real social environment, are often dominated, not noticed or too afraid to stand up for themselves, they engage people online as there are no physical consequences from insulting, offending and trolling. it empowers them and acts like a psychological substitute for dominance assertion. in laymans..... they are weak in real life so they get a buzz from trolling.

I'm sweating too but only in school. At home I can wear anything what I want, but when I go with my friends shopping or do anything else with friends, I'm starting sweating. I think it is because I'm scared that I sweat and so I can't stop think about it. It's hard because I wanna wear colourful clothes too, but I don't wanna anybody see that I'm nsweating. But I know that I'm going to stop sweating the most important thing is to not think about it. You just make yourself stress. You have to say: Today I'm going to be dry under my armpit

They should have a dating site for ppl with hyperhidrosis lol. It would make life so much easier if the other person already knew you had it. You wouldn't get nervous trying to hide your condition and would be way more comfortable. I'm seeing a lot of pretty woman on here. But sadly I'll never meet em. Hopefully there will be in the future , it would make dating situations 10x easier. Just a thought from a 23 yr old male suffering badly from this stuff. :'(

It's so nice to see that there are a lot of people living with Hyperhidrosis, not just me alone. I started sweating excessively in 6th grade, but I thought I was just going through puberty. In 8th grade it was so bad that I wore jackets EVERY day and I still sweated through them. It was humiliating. For a while this controlled my life, I was always worrying about having to raise my hand or having someone see my sweat stains. It had been an ongoing battle with my mom about taking me to the doctor to have this checked out, but finally my mom gave in less than a week ago. The doctor confirmed that I do, in fact, have Hyperhidrosis and she gave me a prescription for an antiperspirant called DrySol and it's been working amazingly! I suffered in silence for four years before learning that hey, sweating through your shirt every day isn't normal, and now that I know that Hyperhidrosis is a real disorder, I'm conquering it :)

XD that was my deodorant sweating off my arms. Ik TMI but what also happens is I will get a huge white circle of deodorant around my arms by the end of the day and I don't know how to control it since I use baking soda under my arms to prevent sweating and odor.

i have hyperhidrosis. I'm 13 years old and I was born with it. I have it on my palms and feet. I'm really conscious because the people around treated me differently (except my family and close friends). I'm scared of shaking hands, high fives, holding hands etc. It's really hard to explain this to other people but knowing that there are so many other people going through the same thing as me, It gives me some confidence.

This is so relieving, my brother and I have always suffered with sweaty palms all day, every day. I also struggle with underarm and foot sweating. My mum took us to the doctors when I was around 6 to see if anything was wrong but they brushed it off but 9 years on its a big problem for me and has been for a few years now as I cannot shake hands because I feel as if they would judge me because of my palms, it's a huge problem also as we have to wear white blouses for school so in the summer I can't take my blazer off because of sweat patches. I googled like "why do I always sweaty palms" and this was a suggestion and I persuaded my mum to get me a doctors appointment sometime in the near future as it stops me from doing certain things, thank you so much for making this video, it was so helpful even if I am two years late on it.

I hate hyperhidrosis. I've had it for a few years now, and I know that that doesn't sound like a lot but I'm only 12. At school in the halls, or in class I take every chance to avoid touching other people. Sometimes they get so sweaty that they drench my desk with little water droplets. And there has never been a time when there where not sweaty, or cold, or clammy, clammy is the best they can get. But that's not the worst part, pit stains. Pit stains are the worst part. Everytime I wear one of my favorite outfits, or just an outfit. In the car when I'm going to school they have already soaked through so I put my hoodie on for the entire day. It doesn't take much, in just 30 seconds I could have drops running down my sides. And my feet to. There always cold, and freezing if I'm not wearing shoes. And they only sweat cold sweat, so at night in bed my sheets get drenched in cold sweat and it makes it hard to go to sleep. I don't get it. Like why do I have to have it. No body eles has enormous pit stains on each side of there shirts. No one eles has to avoid touching propels hands, or in that case anything. No one eles has to deal with it. And I've tried everything. I've literally duct taped cotton balls to my armpits before just to last a night because I was going to the movies with my boyfriend. One time I put panty liners on the inside of my shirt to keep the sweat stains away, they sweat through within my first hour class. I've tried so much and it's hopeless. My parents don't even want to help me because they don't care.

Perspiration is regulated by the Sympathetic Nervous System, which controls about five million sweat glands in the body. Most common body sites affected are the underarms, palms, feet and forehead. When your body temperature rises, hot blood flows to your brain, which sends signals to increase the flow of blood to your skin and start you sweating.

High fiving people, shaking hands, touching people in any way. It's terrible. Most people don't realise how much this condition can effect people's daily lives. I hope that this video (and many others) will inform others about this disorder and let them know that it hard. It's really hard. Thanks

I have hyperhidrosis since i was a baby. I never knew life without it. It affects my hands, underarms and feet. My sweating is so severe but i've learned to live normally with it. I can say that it used to bother me so much when i was younger, i can't write without having the paper wet and i cant go out wearing slippers or sandals. I also have to choose what i will wear so that the sweating won't be too obvious. I used to be so embarrased about it. People notice it especially my hands. But now, i feel ok with it, i have lived all my life with it and i feel totally normal. My advice to those who have it is that you don't need to be embarrassed, just live your life to the fullest. Just think that we are still lucky we are complete, we have hands, legs and feet and etc, sweat is just sweat even if it is severe, we don't need to make it a big problem. Just hold your hankies all the time and dont wear slippers, and everything will be fine. :)

uniQueShaii try botox. I get it for free , and it's 90% stops the sweating. For me it only lasts 3 months. I have ir severely. But i get my injections every 3 months for free. And, I'm super active, since I was so inactive all those years i had it. I'm sorry to hear your mom is not supportive but that's okay, you are here now in this forum. Email me for more info on how to get free botox/injections. And, no i don't work for them. I'm just a long time sufferer from this condition whom wants to help out ;)

Siavash Golzar Hi, call 18004426869 . I believe you press 3#, and 6#. It's called the botox reinburesement program.
      Let them know your problem.
You have to show proof of hardship. A simple letter can di it with your signature saying you are incapable of working under these conditions. Which is true.
I just got my botox injections, I was so inactive for so long, I have 2 jobs that I love, and I'm self reliant. It's wonderful!! Try it. If you have any questions let me know.
Also you need to find a dermatologist that does this procedure.
I live in NYC, so it's easy to find one here. I go to the dermatologist center in Bayside Queens.

    • @ceciliagreco8686
      @ceciliagreco8686 9 років тому

Cecilia Greco If you start now , you can be sweat free in 2 weeks. They take about a week to process paperwork and overnight ship medication.
But you need to find that awesome doctor that will find out if insurance covers the injections themselves.
I have welcare, it covers 100% of the injection fee. Which is $300 each hand.
But i hear that's a special price for me. I mean, i went in there crying years ago.
So they really helped me out.
If you really want it, you have to have other peoples sympathy.
You need to find yourself a great doc.
And if you live in nyc, go check out Dr.Zuckerman or Phoebe at the dermatologist center. They are my life savor.!! For real!!

Thank you sooo much for this video. I have been dealing with hyperhidrosis for about a year now but I didn't know what was wrong with me. It was so embarrassing for me because my friends would walk up to me and say u have huge sweat stains. I'm not a confident person so that was horrible:( My hyperhidrosis started getting worse and worse and eventually I just wore black. After I watched this I felt MUCH better that I was not the only one and I got up the courage to tell my mom about it and she really just didn't understand what I was going through. And so she finally ordered certain dri the other day. I have literally been wearing it for like a week but it has already been life changing. After one day I was like ok this might work and the next day I cautiously wore a pink shirt and I was fine! I feel so much better thank u so so so so much for this video :)

It's nice to see a popular UA-camr talk about this :) I've had this forever and everywhere, but my hands and feet are the worst. Hands are the worst because there are so many things you can't do - write across a paper, play instruments, shake hands to greet people, hold hands with your loved one, even handing money to the cashier is an embarrassing moment. Sweaty feet just means I can't wear slippers, open shoes or heels. Driclor worked for me and changed my life too! Can't live without it.

There are ALOT of WORSE disorders out there that you could have had but thank God you don't.

Alexis Lexie Hi guys I see many are frustrated with hyperhidrosis. I also had but not now. You can cure it naturally without medicines. Just drink 3 to 5 glass of ginger juice regularly and by doing correct exercise for blood circulation, u can cure it within 4 months. You can see the difference in 15days. You can add lemon and honey with the ginger juice. I used to drink 2 glass in morning, afternoon and night, that is 6 glass per day. Try to boil and drink always for instant result. And I see many deleting my messages, so if u got cured just forward the message to all. Just try and see the magic. Bye hyperhidrosis. Don't worry we are not cursed god is with us, just try it. Bye.

After over 10 years (basically my whole life) of dealing with hyperhidrosis, I am finally going for a Botox consultation the day after tomorrow :) I have tried not worrying about it, used topical antiperspirants, gone to a psychologist for the intense anxiety that accompanied it, and I have finally realized how much it's holding me back from my day to day life. I've used Drysol (20%) for years, and although it worked at first, I now have eczema on the back of my hands so I can't really use it anymore plus it is not always effective for me. I just want anyone watching this video now as I first did a few years ago to understand that it doesn't define you and I hope that all of us will one day not have to deal with hyperhidrosis anymore. I always tell myself, it could have been worse. I could have had cancer, or some other terminal disease but I was dealt this card instead and now it's up to me to choose what I do with it from here onwards.

I sweat ALOT. It's so embarrassing because I feel like I look gross or I smell odd. I don't know if it's a medical condition but I could be sitting and I start sweating whether it be in class or just talking with friends. Non air conditioned classrooms are a bitch (although it doesn't matter because I still will sweat). Even in the winter I sweat in my winter coat. I hate going to my friends houses because they are always hot, causing me to sweat. I was at a friends house the other day and My skin was literally WET and shiny with sweat, while they were fine. My feet and hands aren't even a problem, It's the rest of my body

Sometimes I'd like to wear something else but I'm not brave enough unless I'm home or with my bf (who doesn't care at all). +kawaiipeach Hi! I have the exact same situation as you do, excessive sweating not just on my armpits or hands but my entire body especially my back, armpits and legs (which is why I also wear only black or patterned shirts like you). I wanted to ask you which methods you've tried so far and if any of them worked even in the slightest? I'm asking you specifically because most people seem to have this problem only on their hands, feet or armpits and not in their whole body. So I'd really appreciate it if you'd reply to me. Thanks!

      @MiauMichigan 8 років тому

+OmerFY Hi! Sorry for the delay.
First I tried solid and liquid aluminium antiperspirants (with a doctor prescription). The first one didn't work at all so then I moved to the liquid one that was stronger. It kind of worked but only on my armpits. I was very happy but a couple of years later I developed three breast cysts so I had to stop using it because it's thought to be related to breast cancer.
Then I was thinking about the surgery to get the HH out of my hands and feet. I got an appoitment with a surgeon and I was commited to get that surgery done but when he explained that it would not only make the other parts of my body sweat more but it could also not work at all, then I decided not to do it.
Then I was put under hormonal pills since after a regular check on my doctor he found out that I have a thyroid disorder. The pills were suposed to help at least a little bit with my HH but it didn't happen even now that my thyroid is better. I been on the pills for almost a year.
I've also tried natural home remedies for the armpits such as apple cider vinegar and homemade coconut oil/baking soda deodorant. Those work for the smell but not for the excesive sweat.
For the rest of my body I've just gave up because non of the methods above work. I just wear all black or clothes with prints that can mask the HH.
I work at customer service and for work I simply have a little towel, handkerchief or papel towels for my hands and wear black tops and black pants every day.
I've been suffering from this since I was born and now I'm 27 so I think that after a while you just get used to cope with it.
If you've tried something that worked, please let me know!
Sorry for my english (not my native language).

I've had Hyperhidrosis my entire life for a long as I can remember. I mostly have it on my hands, or feet. Mostly on the hands. My hands would sweat excessively to a point of dripping. It wasn't until my doctor gave me a prescription for Aluminum Chloride (Drysol). I couldn't believe how well it worked. No matter the activity, heavy exercise, work, etc. They would not sweat anymore.
Well my hands were dry, I had to start using something I had never used in my life for my hands..... LOTION.
That being said, I lost my health benefits and Drysol (Aluminum Chloride) is prescription only in the U.S. and the only way I can get it is shipped overseas, or from some vendors in Canada.
There are other options besides Drysol. Driclor is also a Aluminum Chloride antiperspirant that also contains 20% of Aluminum Chloride, the same as max strength Drysol. I haven't tried it yet, but you obtain Driclor on Amazon and its less expensive than Drysol. Unless somebody else has another vendor they can recommend, I'm going to try out this Driclor because it has the same active ingredients and is less expensive.

    Hey guys,
So I wanted to write this for the people having problems with there Underarms and Hands. When I was in the 8th grade (same as sarah in the video) my underarms sweat huge...like we are talking drip drip drip and my mum brought me back a product from Ireland that my cousin used at the time called "Odaban". It's a spray that you put on before going to bed and it closes up the sweat glands like the certain dri product. I only use it twice a week (use it for 2 or 3 days in a row at the beginning) and I am pretty much completely dry all the time for the last almost 30 years. I won't put there address here but you can google it and check it out (you can order it online).
The second product I use is for my hands which without it my hands are a wet mess. It's called "Drysol" which you can buy over the counter at a pharmacy. But there is a trick to it that a dermatologist taught me to do which works and if I don't it doesn't. Use the dab on bottle, before you go to bed get some saran wrap and a couple of socks, tear off 12 small sheets and 2 long sheets of saran wrap and lay them on the bed (put one of the larger ones on your lap), spread the Drysol over one hand ( I do it twice then each of my finger tips again at the end), take one of the small sheets and fold it over one of your fingers (I find it easier if you start with the pinky)and wrap it around, do the same for all four fingers then one wrapped across the palm, then one over your thumb, then take one of the long sheets and wrap it around your whole hand, then pull a sock over your hand and roll it up to your wrist. Repeat on your other hand. You have to use it a few days in a row for it to start working then twice a week (twice a week works for me) Has worked for me for years! Good Luck I understand how devastating it can be to have. :)

Hyperhidrosis is a very misunderstood condition, peoples perceptions are often that you haven't showered etc. It still has a huge stigma attached to it, mainly because of commercials showing it in a bad light. It self perpetuates, you sweat because you're anxious so you become anxious because you're sweating, and so and and so forth. Thankfully medicine is moving on all the time, there's now much more you can do than there was as little as ten, even five years ago. This is good and I hope any of you who suffer have found what works for you and a way to deal with it.
In my case I had severe under arm, hands and feet HH. I was lucky in that it didn't start until I was in my late 20's, so school was never a problem. However, by this point, I was in a job that required shaking hands with people a lot and doing presentations. My hands could be clap-cold and you could see sweat dripping off my fingers. Anyway, fast-forward a few years and I'd explored all the options open to me with no success. My final option was surgery, an endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy, or ETS for short. A fairly intrusive procedure but not life threatening. I had the surgery and it was successful to a degree but I now get compensatory sweating in my chest and back and sometimes my groin area. There is a plus side in that it is more controllable with medication (Oxybutynin), but this does have side effects, dry mouth, eyes and nose and sometimes difficulty passing water. The point I'm trying to make is if you're at the ETS stage, please think very carefully before you have it done. Explore new options such as botox, look at ETS surgery as an absolute last resort.
I admire Sarah's courage as it's not easy to deal with, it wasn't for me at least. However, as she says, embrace it, tell people about it, explain it to them, friends will understand and help.
Best wishes to you all. XX

Great video, by the way! Hyperhidrosis is terrible to deal with when you don't know what's going on, and you have no information or hope.

I had hyperhidrosis too for several years as a teen. I tried EVERYTHING, deodorants, powders, creams, prescription deodorants, and nothing worked. Finally a dermatologist recommended I try botox in my arm pits and it worked! So for several years, I had to get botox every 6 months. Eventually, the hyperhidrosis went away on it's own when I turned about 22 or so. I'm glad you made this video, as I know it's an issue a lot of girls deal with.

_sorry, my answer is very long. Sorry if my english is not perfect_
Staci Anne C. and Hee Vin Kim me too. My real problem is my face sweat (i sweat in every part of my body but my face is horrible) since i can remember.
I remember the only time i really stopped sweating is when i practiced a sport in a long period (rugby for 1 year and footing). When i practice i sweat, but after i was dry for a week.
I stopped due to injury and my sweat problem came back. Now i read a lot of infotmation about it and i really know my problem: i have a water retention problem due to too many sodas i drank, so i have too much sugar in my body (diabetes).
*My solution is personnal i do* :
1/ practice sport to eliminate the excess of water (i know that you rehydrate after, but for me, my body controls better water like that). 4 hours, and you must sweat ;)
2/ change your eating. Now i eat lot of vegetables and proteins, less of sugar (even complex sugar) and fat. Drink only water and green tea. NEVER EAT SACCHAROSE AND GLUCOSE FRUCTOSE SYRUP as possible. This cause a lot of water retention.
3 / magnesium + calcium + vitamin d cure. This point is my best personnal discovery. Magnesium is an excellent diuretic (good for heath, it doesn't deshydrate the body), plus many people are in lack of if. Calcium and vit d is for the electrolyte balance.

Great video! I suffered so badly in high school and finally was given a prescription, basically Certain Dry that you can get over the counter now at Walmart, but 30 yrs ago I had to apply it, then tape saran-wrap under my arms and sleep like that once a week, but it was a miracle! I could not wear anything cute or cotton and colorful and wore flannel and light jackets over everything until I found this from my dermatologist!

I stopped my piano classes when I was a child because my teacher got upset every time she saw the keys dirty and sent me to wash my hands. At that point I didn’t know/ understand I had a sweaty problem with my hands. I tried botox twice as an adult but didn’t work. I learnt to accept it and live with it but every social interaction still hard and sometimes scary.

I'm 13 years old. I have hyperhydrosis. I tried telling my mom about it so I could get help or something to help me stop sweating. Mine is under my arms (go ahead laugh). Anyways she just ignored me when I said that I sweat excessively and she just said I don't wash well enough :(
I actually take showers in the morning and at night everyday. It's really embarrassing and I can't do normal things at school anymore :(

I've been having hyperhidrosis like...all my life. Same happened to me, I felt ashamed and uncomfortable with myself, I felt weird too. I was scared of holding hands with somebody, the first time on that was when I was 8, on school. If someone held my hand they would say ''ewww you're sweating'', and what could I do about it? nothing. My mum used to say to me that it was normal and that I shouldn't hide it. It took me years to. Now instead, people say to me that they don't care, that it's normal and that it doesn't change who i am.

My experience is that itching is only temporary. I am not a physician but I haven't noticed any damage to my skin after 3 years. If your hands get too dry, try a little hand lotion. The important thing is not to give up trying the method. Most people will have extraordinary results within 2 weeks, maybe sooner. Some it takes longer-just don't give up! And follow the Bowling videos!.

It´s awkward how people complain about sweating on hands or armpits. I would do anything to only have this problems. I sweat everywhere. Armpits, hands, neck, head, lip, feet, legs, ass, balls. Just everywhere. But the biggest problem is the back. I can hide armpits. I dont shake hands or fistbumb my friends. But the back is terrible. You can´t hide it. And that´s terrible.

I used to get these huge sweat stains, it literally seemed I ran a marathon. It was such a bad experience and I felt so embarrased. Until I saw your older video were you talked about it. It's been about a year now since I use Certain-Dri. it works wonders! And yes I get the occasional itch, but it is worth it! Thank you so much Sarah!!

I never really admitted it, but I Have Hyperhidrosis. I usually sweat a lot in social situations(school). and it sucks to because I push myself away from certain situations because of it. I feel for me personally, it is a mental thing because if I think about too much, it controls me, but if I'm not, I don't sweat at all. I started in 8th grade and now I'm an Incoming Sophomore. Thank you for sharing this because now I know I'm not gonna let this control me and i know that I'm not alone.(:

Without a doubt, hyperhidrosis is a handicap. It's so embarassing that your own mother or bf probably don't know about it unless you decided to wear the wrong top at the wrong time. But as humiliating as it was, the best thing I ever did was mention it to my doctor. I got hydrosal (pretty much the equivalent of certain dri) and it's been life changing, no joke. This video is awesome and I wish the younger me had seen it sooner so I could of had the confidence to tell a doctor earlier! x

    hyperhidrosis Main Cause reasons :
    1- depression
    2- low self esteem
    3- Shyness
    4- inner grief ...
5-self humiliation(self hating) in Comparing to others
    and other Subjective problems ...

FINALLY!!!!! someone who i can relate to. I first began seeing i was really sweating in fifth grade, but didn't think about it that much until i got into middle school. I'm exactly like you, i could be freezing cold, but i would still have these huge stains on ALL of my shirts. I also gave up on white shirts because i would turn the underarms yellow, and i NEVER take off my sweatshirt even if you paid me. Even today, almost a freshman in high school, i can't control, or reduce it no matter how much deodorant i put on in the morning and during the day. It's just SOOOO embarrassing i can't stand it. So i asked my doctor to prescribe my to hypercare because im willing to do anything by now (no needles though).
