Just bought my son an N64 for his 13th birthday and we're starting at the beginning in terms of games. We've got Mario 64, Ocarina Of Time, Goldeneye and a few sports games, but are keen to add Smash Bros. Mario Party and Bad Fur Day asap... We're going to be uploading reviews of old consoles and games very soon over on our channel.

The Nintendo 64 was my very first console and when I reached college, it was the only console I brought with me. Since then I've slowly been collecting for it and videos like this definitely help point me in the right direction of what to buy and what not to buy. Great video.

EDIT: Thanks for the heart! I found this video very useful, and I'm think of buying a 64, Mario 64, and Mario Tennis with my birthday money. I want Mario Kart 64, but it's very expensive. Let's hope for N64 on the Switch Virtual Console! (If there is one.)

Great video! I just started my quest for a complete US collection recently. I had about 25 games from childhood but they are a lot of the big ones (mario 64, OOT, banjo etc.) and I also already own bomberman the second attack! Since I’ve started I’ve been going chronologically and I’m currently own 9 of the first 20 on top of my original collection. A long way to go but it’s fun!

    Fantastic guide!
Also for anyone looking for some hidden gems/under the radar games, I'd recommend:
    - Chameleon Twist 1 & 2 (Moderate, $20-25)
    - Space Station Silicon Valley (Moderate, $20-$30)
    - Glover (Cheap, maybe $8-10)
    - Snowboard Kids (Multiplayer, a little pricey though, bout $40)

The bulk of my N64 collection came from one shopping trip... on holiday once and saw a second-hand game shop that was having it's closing down sale. This was back when the Gamecube was being replaced by the Wii, and loose N64 carts were considered almost worthless, so they had a big box of loose cartridges in the shop selling for 50 pence each. Left the store with about 40 titles I couldn't buy during the N64's lifespan and a big smile xD

Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone and takes time to adjust to with its design. My biggest problem with it is the analog stick, it's just terrible. Thankfully there are other options out there now like the Brawler 64 controller as Drew mentioned. I have one of those myself and it's league's better then the original imo.

I also have the Brawler 64 and love it! Keep up the great work. BTW also recommend a quality S-video cable and an S-video to HDMI upscaler adapter to squeeze out great picture quality from the system when hooked up to HDTVs without the need to mod your system.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but your videos have something special about them. It's like the extra effort/polish makes them so enjoyable to watch. Seriously, you're the first and only person I've seen on UA-cam talk about the Brawler 64 in comparison to the Hori Pad Mini. It's like when Retro Fighters announced the kickstarter, people just forgot that a high quality 2 prong N64 controller already exists. If and when you do a full review of the Brawler 64, it would be dope if you spun it a little differently than all the other reviews already out there. I want to know who the king of N64 3rd party controllers is, and it's only right that you be the first to cover it.

For the past week, my brother and I plugged back the Nintendo 64, and started playing a few games again like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and 007: The World Is Not Enough. Among the other games we have are Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. We still have some games we never got to open and play, including Conker's Bad Fur Day which is still sealed. We've been longtime Nintendo fans since the NES and Super NES days, but the N64 is still a great console to have played and experienced also.

    Great topic for a video!
Your channel is really refreshing. An american that doesn't shout and a gaming topic vlogger that doesn't talk at 200mph. - Obviously you have a good microphone set up and are not reading directly from a whiteboard.
The content of your videos is very informative, with good video segments for illustration yet a short sweet delivery time of 5-15 mins. Many gaming related videos have stock clips unrelated to the topic, or endless gameplay from the vlogger in the background. They can also go on a fair bit.
Please keep up the great work as your videos are really enjoyable, I have learnt so much about Nintendo that I was not aware of!
BTW, your Nintendo room is awesome too!

I would also add "Stunt Racer 64" to the racing section of this guide. It might be out of some buyers reaches (price-wise or availability), as it was a Blockbuster exclusive, but if you can find it, get it.

The N64 is probably my most beloved console from my childhood, because of the multiplayer. It was the ultimate sleepover game system. Countless hours playing Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Goldeneye, and so many other awesome multiplayer games filled my weekends when I was about 10-12 years old. I really don’t think even a modern system could provide more fun with friends than the N64 did for me back then. Diddy Kong Racing and Shadows of the Empire were also awesome games that don’t get enough love or attention today.

One more game I would add is Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. It’s a great game you can tell the developers really put a lot of care into making, and can usually be found for under $10.
