- Sooner or later it happens: you buy those pellets that always goes right on target, but this time they seems to have a will of their own... Maybe the sight is defective, or the rifle? No, it is "the bad batch"...
Hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching!

I have been using JSB exacts for about 2yrs through the same rifle and they have been spot on👍. Bought a new batch of JSBs and was out hunting and noticed my accuracy was all over the place.🤔thought must be a problem with the rifle, so I sent it to the gunsmith for a service and testing. The gunsmith got in touch and said he had serviced and tested the rifle for accuracy using his JSB exacts and it was fine. He told me to check the batch of pellets I was using for damage. Sure enough when I checked they had damaged skirts 🙁
A bad batch of pellets 🙁from a normally constant brand. Unfortunately I got another 4 tins of the same batch 🙁
I am sorry to know that, but it happens, we eventually get a useless tin of pellets. Same with the other big (and expensive) brand H&N.
While I consider JSB to be overall the best pellet on the market (and dominant in competition), they do have process variances that can affect their dimensions. Sampling a tin (50 pcs) and determining the mean head diameter and distribution can reveal this. Excellent photography and graphics, with clearly demonstrated effects on the accuracy and grouping make this video compelling. Thank you!
Thank you! I agree, JSBs are excellent pellets and even those I called "bad batch" maybe could group well with another barrel, the problem is that the head diameter was wrong labelled.
Perfect exposure of a common problem missed by most no talking just the facts
Thank you!!
@@unrelatedactivities I can confirm that I have noticed this problem. In my case, the appearance of the pellets was slightly different in a small box, and different in a large box. The pellet in a large box was much nicer but it did not hit the target precisely, while the pellet from a small box looked worse and hit the target precisely.
I just bought two cans of 15.89gr made in 2008. Can't wait to see how they do.
I hope you get good results.
@@unrelatedactivities They were cheap to.
I too have found the same difference in JSB 18.13 and 15.89 and 25.39 king. There are 3 different types for each weight that I know of and only one shoot well for me,so I stop using JSB and stick to H&N. The only JSB I found that has no variants is the 14.35 Express.
I love this videos...very instructive!!
Our FT club (National FT championship winner) has been shooting exclusively with the JSB pellets (various weights and calibers) and recently we have been experiencing troubles with pellet accuracy. Sad but very informative to see this proof of unreliability which must be addressed by the JSB company.
The diameter difference was too much, it was the first and only time I have seen this with JSB pellets. It was also the only time I bought the 500 pellets tin, I usually buy 250 pcs tins and they are always ok, with minimum difference between batches.
As usual. Numero uno videos. Thanks.
very usefull video, i also have the same problem with the 500 pellets can, i went already to the eyedoctor but everything seem ok, the problem are the pellets i see
Thanks!
Good Video! Thanks for sharing.
This is sad... from a company that had build a good reputation, it certainly has gone downhill.
The JSB EXPRESS I have supposed to be 5.52mm but they range from 5.46 to 5.49. It group miserably with my HW100T. 👎🏽

Great video!. Thanks so much.
very good information, really can't imagine JSB's quality control is not as good as expected....
JSB make excellent pellets, I don't know what could have happened but it is not the norm.
Why are they so different? JSB claim they are carefully selected.
No puede ser!!! Revisaré mis cajas de JSB. Y copiaré video a JSB.
Very informative video, thanks, BUT, I think your barrel isn't clean,
HW100 should to do dime size hole on 25 m with normal pellets.
+pilotina65 Thanks! Yes, with normal pellets.
Excellent !!!
Totalmente de acuerdo, según el lote tienen diferencias, los Jsb de cometa pasa lo mismo.
(BRAVO FAI SEMPRE BELLI VIDEO
They look like completely different pellets.. Did you weigh them? (Sorry if I missed that) It gets me to thinking that folks who find the perfect pellet for their barrels have maybe just stumbled on a consistent tin of pellets, not a brand or pellet type, and that most barrels will shoot consistently with any consistent pellet (as long as it's tight enough in the bore)
No, I did not. With the air rifles I have been shooting that is not the case, consistency remains important but shape and weight too. In relation to the pellet diameter, I agree, if the pellet do not engage the rifling sufficiently, grouping deteriorates a lot.
This is nothing to do with quality but the two pellets were very obviously manufactured on different dies as indicated by the serial number on the tin which gives the month/year of manufacture and the die number. The pellet with the thicker skirt would very obviously perform better in an FAC gun due to the skirt not defroming under heavy air pressure. Use a UK spec sub 12 gun and the see if the results are reversed?
The problem was undersized head diameter, the label states 5,52mm but they were 5,50 and below for the most part. I tried them with 18J and the spreading was only slightly reduced. Other barrels may like them, though.
@@unrelatedactivities I have had the dubious pleasure of measuring the heads of .177 JSB Diabolos a couple of times. They should have been 4.52 nominal. I am a model engineer and if I may say so myself know how to use high precision measuring instruments. Hardly any of the pellets measured 4.52 ( head size ). They were almost all under size and fell into 3 distinct groups. The largest about 4.51 an donly a few of them the rest between 4.48 and 4.50. The skirts measured from 4.67 to 4.72 mm. It is obvious that JSBs rely on the skirt to stablise the pellet in the barrel and it works. The heads show distinct rifling marks after having been fired so despite being under sized they still make contact with the rifling. Many thanks.
You are welcome.
so true!
Sou brasileiro.
You can either study English or avoid english spoken videos. Amen
Não agrupou com a minha b19s
Boa!!!!
вот так вот результаты
Do you sell mold 5.52mm
These pellets are from JSB, I think they don't sell molds.
@@unrelatedactivities ok thanks for you
