I don't see why the Stepmother cares about Lucy. She's not *really* her granddaughter. Unless she's really spiteful of Cinderella to keep Lucy away from her. Or....she knows Lucy is like Henry and can break her curse. Now it makes sense.

These are pretty much like the animated and live-action versions - One is evil for the sake of the story while the other has more development. I'll take the latter as it's more interesting and less predictable.
