If I spawned that close to another civ on a True Start Location map then I would quit right away. I have a bad history of being attacked by another civ in under ten or so turns and its frustrating.
Terra is my favorite map type of all time, one thing about it though, it's not Earth shaped necessarily, it just has two continents with all civs starting on a (usually smaller) Old world continent with a New world ready to be settled in the midgame once ocean travel is unlocked. The one problem with Terra is that every game has one thing about it that makes them really rough to play. Civ 4 had transport ships slowing down cross-continent wars too much. Civ 5 punished Wide play in a variety of ways, but I think if you made new world specific luxuries it could theoretically work. Civ 6 District cost scaling system means that colonies require a huge amount of builders to chop new cities up to speed in the mid to lategame. Historic speed could maybe help with this, but I understand how it can feel very slow and tedious at times.
I currently live in Xi'an as an expat! It was the first capital city of China. It's very old. Lots of cool history. I just had a nerdgasm when i saw it in the game 😊
I agree with your 'Historic Speed' mod being a bit too slow. I tried a mod that did something similar, multiplying all the civic and tech costs by a set amount. But I still didn't care for the speed. What I found to work well was to edit the civic and tech costs myself in the game files, using a different multiplier depending on the era. I think I did something like multiplying the Ancient, Classical, and Medieval costs by 1.5, Renaissance and Industrial by 2.0, Modern and Atomic by 2.5, and Information by 3.0. That seemed to pace the game pretty well, for my tastes at least.
That would actually make a good mod. I quite like historic speed but it gets obnoxious on larger maps. If you play on small or standard sized maps it's fine though.
Anything would be better then this. New settlers and units every turn. New technology every other turn. This kind of game is way too fast for me. There's no room for strategy or even moving around much. You can make tiny crap towns way too close together because the game wont even last that long. Seems to me CIV will do anything to justify making lots of crap towns close together. This to me is not a quality experience in any capacity. It's rewarding to have a good capital able to work all of it's land. There is a feeling of respect when approaching enemy cities done in this fashion, esp when you intend to capture them later. This game is like, make lots of crap towns basically anywhere, crank out lots of units, keep mashing buttons and doing everything fast, pull more units out of your ass from out of nowhere.
yeah, scaling them like that is good. The big problem with the tech tree is that mid to late game tech cost don't increase nearly as much as your science output does, so as the game goes on and the game should be getting more complex, you actually end up spending far fewer turns at each era so you don't get to enjoy the unique elements of each era because you immediately bypass it for the next one.
Wait, Japan but no Korea when you play a domination game as Genghis Khan? The Koreans have battled off multiple Mongolian invasions that defeated even the Chinese. They only lost after China was firmly in Mongol hands. Plus in general Korea is difficult to conquer on deity because they usually have better units than you, especially when you don't play for a science victory. So not only would it have been historically adequate but also interesting for the game.
Jisoo Kim Korea was half the size of a Chinese province and surrounded by waters. Aka low value and high challenge. Frankly the reason it weren’t conquered before China seems to be that the Mongols didn’t really care to.
@@GewalfofWivia while that is true, the Koreans have been a presence in Northeast Asia for a long time. And they fought many wars against the different Mongolian tribes. In the time that Mongolians took over China Korea was everything else but poor. A big issue was the infighting between the Mongols themselves, whoever would go to conquer Korea would face a mountainous country with tons of forts, not exactly the best territory for horsemen to fight. So even though victory would be pretty much guaranteed thanks to the manpower being so lopsided, it was never gonna be a quick conquest. Whichever Mongolian leader went on a several year long campaign to Korea was likely going to lose mainland China to a rival. So nobody bothered for a long time. Eventually they won some battles on the northern border though and made Korea pay tribute. Basically the cheap way out for both parties. The Mongolians didn't have to worry about taking the entire peninsula and the Koreans didn't lose their sovereignty.
Game is ridiculously fast anyway. New settlers, new units, new technology like every other turn. I would not rely on this as any kind of guide, just bored and wanted to see Civ 6 gameplay.
Indonesia should be there as well considering that the Mongols did try a failed invasion to Java which led to the rise of Majapahit (Gitarja's granddaddy was the one who defeated the Mongols).
Nah it had 3 after the farms 28:58. It had 5 initially 26:36 cause china has an extra charge on all builders plus the 2 additional charges from the pyramids.
@@robertbrown9309 Civ VI is beautiful, I can't say I relate to the "cartoony" aspect of it. What part of Civ V visually was less "cartoony"? Unless you are talking about gameplay, can't see it.

thank you for playing reasonably quickly, some other youtubers i get painfully bored as they um and ah over decisions for too long
demolazer I feel ya I love civ but most UA-camrs just are to slow
I also like playing on quick speed for UA-camr or online because the game is going online so at least play on a faster speed I don't have that long

That one builder had 4 charges even after building 2 farms.
Pyramids was conqyered maybe

Nice, it should be more historic if you had Persia and Khmer and korea in map
