I'm 25 yr old and i love watching your videos. I found your channel last week. I also like walking trough cemeteries, it makes me feel sad and happy at the same time, but i don't do that often because i live in a small region, i don't drive and i know nobody that has an interest of doing that, actually i like to keep it in secret..there is something very relaxing about that, but i don't know how to describe that feeling, i think that you know what i'm saying.. Seeing all those young people that died a long ago, some of them were my age, some of them were also born at the same day as me, and i always wonder what happend to them, what were they like as a person.. You kinda look at life in a different way while doing/watching this..knowing our lives are meaningless at some point, yet it gives you that mixture of sadness and relaxiation..🍃
These are my favorites Ron. Just walking and reading the truly forgotten. So sad a lot of the headstones are just worn away . I hope you do more like this.
Back in the 80's I took my Grandmother to a cemetery to see the headstones of her Great Great Grandparents who were the pioneers around Walla Walla.. It was 60 or so miles away and yes, we brought sandwiches and drinks which we ate sitting on the tailgate or my pickup and talked about days gone by.....no loud laughing or radio's blaring. I didn't realize at the time we were creating a magical memory.
So many stories that will never be heard... We forget our grandparents in 2 generations. 😶😢 We are only,"dust in the wind". Thanks for a nice walk to remind us that we stand on the shoulders of the generations that went before us. MERRY CHRISTMAS.
9:42 Definitely, your channel and others are normalizing visiting and researching people in cemeteries. It is good exercise for those who can do it. So many monuments meant to be seen and admired so that people who were important to someone and some family or prominent individuals would be remembered. There has been an increased effort to clean up overgrown cemeteries that had been neglected for decades. Also, I believe the Indian children who were buried and forgotten in Canada who were being forced to assimilate into Christianity have been discovered and attention is being given to the atrocities they endured and how their deaths were swept under the rug. I believe a lot of the attention is on these topics because of the resurgence of the importance of cemeteries and because of the increasing of people feeling comfortable going to visit cemeteries. I literally went to a cemetery recently to locate a former employee and friend so I could place a yellow rose on her grave. I felt way more comfortable there than I would in a crowd of the living. No judgement and no danger. Just birds and windchimes and flowers from different people's loved ones all around.
I'm AMAZED that pollution has the power to literally dissolve those stones. The type of stone, I guess, combined with what seems like acid rain in that area, just doesn't stand up, especially limestone, but I had no idea marble would just melt like that! I used to live near Houston, lung-clogger of the world practically, but the cemeteries I visited had very little marble. I imagine the effect was the same. I'm so enjoying accompanying you on your walks; sometimes I want to yell, 'Hey, Ron, go back over there; I wanna see that one!' Hahahaha. I need to find another pal to cemetery-walk with me in real time. Where we moved, I hope to find some really old pioneer graves.
It’s amazing how you have Egyptian hieroglyphs that are thousands and thousands of years old, getting scorched by the desert sun and sand blasted by relentless and timeless winds and they are still able to be read, but head stones that are 120-140 years old and they cannot be read. Interesting to say the least.
Yes, always be respectful. Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA where my nephew is buried is like a winter wonderland with over the top Christmas decorations and flowers, wreathes and "trees". During the summer, families so kind of picnic at their deceased family members gravesites.

Hi Ron. You are absolutely right about being respectful when visiting a cemetery. I was visiting a cemetery in Sleepy Hollow in Westchester New York. There was a family of 8 visiting their loved one and they were having a picnic on top of the grave and it spread on top 2 other graves. They were playing music and the children were running around the cemetery playing and running around the tomb stones. They were very loud. I couldn’t believe it.

I just love the peaceful atmosphere that cemeteries have also paying respect to the loved ones also if you visit them yes show some respect not have a good laugh and I totally agree with you Ron

Indeed respect and peace on a cemetery. Here in The Netherlands, our cemetery's are way smaller. Not so interesting in my simple opinion... But nevertheless still feel so much when walking over our small ones... Can be cause i'm living in a small town ;) Have a nice day/evening all

Man, if I thought it would be ok to picnic at my loved ones grave, I totally would. I brought a meal to my dad's grave and there's really something about it. I guess I'll just bring up the whole family next time. He always enjoyed a good party haha.
enjoyed ron i have been to st andrews in scotland the home of golf and you can visit old tom morris the father of modern golf grave and do you know that also in the same graveyard there are pirates graves with skulls and crossbones on them although i know nothing about them it is just very interesting just thought i'd tell you about it hugs from scotland
I love these little strolls though cemeteries. I hope to one day visit or somehow visit my grandparents parents on the east coast and pay my respects but Maryland is a little far. One day. I have seen people spending the day or reading books at the cemetery where my grandparents are the only bad thing I see about that is if your visiting a loved one where that persons chair is on top of. It is Riverside National Cemetery ( for military service members). There are a few famous people buried there.
I wonder why cemeteries aren't more attentive to these stones that need to be straightened and remounted. I know with Covid everyone was short staffed plus I think a lot of the groundskeepers are seasonal. I do think too though that the older stones get neglected more often than the newer ones because there are no more families around to hound them. That's really sad. I know that my dad called Maryhill a couple of times to reset my families' stones that were sinking, and they took care of it right away. Not sure that they would have bothered without that phone call though. They definitely need a person or two in each cemetery just to focus on fixing stones.
I for one like watching your videos as I enter the information of the person you are telling us about in the Family Tree app to see if I'm related to them. Many times I am like the guy Bobby Helm who wrote, sang and made Jingle Bell Rock is my first husband's 9th cousin once Removed. That's my interest. I've found many you have reported on I'm related directly or through my first husband. Really interesting.
Van Craenenbroeck, that is Dutch alright, names having some German mixed in as well. Van Cranenbroek (simplified spelling haha, but I want to bet they came from this name) is well known around this area. Beautiful flowers indeed :) Thanks for taking us on these walks, so peaceful :)
Quite a legacy you have. Here is the link, it’s the second all-time episode I did when I first started, so excuse the shakes camera and terrible production work, well, just starting out on a fine day in July, 2020. ua-cam.com/video/RCIKxbQRBgw/v-deo.html
I have a thought. So many people do the celebration of life service after someone passes away then in a small version why can't you do that at a cemetery

awesome Janet, be careful binging!! yes, always an open ear, some of those are on my list already (Margaret Mitchell, Bobby Jones...), will keep the others in mind. ty for chiming in. Enjoy, lots to watch!
I watched a video that was filmed at a cemetery in Fla...the people that made the video were playing around in the cemetery running around acting like they were grieving fake crying then they got up and started chasing each other playing...I told them that was absolutely disrespectful and disgusting wouldn't you know she came back at me and said I had a problem and I am the type that takes fun out of adventures....it was in night time when they did this ...they have made several videos like that going into the chapels and flipping chairs and benches saying it was ghost....it just made me sick....anyway sorry for such a long comment ..I just felt the need to tell people to think about the respect level when visiting the final resting place of someone's loved one.....

Man, if I thought it would be ok to picnic at my loved ones grave, I totally would. I brought a meal to my dad's grave and there's really something about it. I guess I'll just bring up the whole family next time. He always enjoyed a good party haha.
@@pippadot679 Crazily enough, it was kind of an impromptu and had only burger King with me. I'll probably actually do that very soon, thanks!
enjoyed ron i have been to st andrews in scotland the home of golf and you can visit old tom morris the father of modern golf grave and do you know that also in the same graveyard there are pirates graves with skulls and crossbones on them although i know nothing about them it is just very interesting just thought i'd tell you about it hugs from scotland
I think some of them has been nudged by the mowers.
My grandma use to say to talk quietly they are sleeping in the mosoulium
I CANNOT imagine having a BBQ or cookout in a GRAVEYARD. (Oh, yes, those are ferns on top of the one stone.)
ribs....
Hey ron
If you find yourself in Evanston Illinois my famous uncle Charles comiskey is buried there
Already did that one.
Quite a legacy you have. Here is the link, it’s the second all-time episode I did when I first started, so excuse the shakes camera and terrible production work, well, just starting out on a fine day in July, 2020. ua-cam.com/video/RCIKxbQRBgw/v-deo.html
Life is real..life is earnest, and the grave is not it's goal.Dust thou art to dust returneth was never spoken of the soul..
a cemetery would be an awesome place to be when this happens,,, Matthew 27:52 🤠
I understand inventor Cyrus McCormick is buried here
Thought I was the weird one til this year. Had no idea I am just 1 out of millions
I really don't think it's appropriate to be laughing either. It's a very serious matter. It's always hard to lose people we love 💕😘.
I have a thought. So many people do the celebration of life service after someone passes away then in a small version why can't you do that at a cemetery
what is the biggest cemetery in North America
Rose Hill Memorial Park. Arlington is second largest.
What a great walk through the tomb stones really enjoyed it. It is amazing how some of the stones just melt away thanks Ron.🇺🇸👮🏻♂️
Those flowers are Azaleas
I’m a brand new viewer & now a subscriber. I will probably binge watch your channel today.

Can you tell me where my grandfather, Albert Anastasia is buried? Yes, Murder Inc!
