Yes you are right because without the trees and vegetation to absorb and slowly release the water into the ground, it all just goes up into the atmosphere and dumps down when the atmosphere needs to cleanse itself of carbon. Honestly the answer is just to plant everywhere. But people think that’s too simple an answer, and don’t do it. Honestly, stop mowing, stop ripping out everything, and let the green come back. That is honestly all that is needed.

SEEDING: The government needs to immediately put funding into seeding the clouds during the rainy season in order to produce up to 15% more rain which can lower the impact due to drought. Seeding doesn’t work when the environment is in the middle of a drought but rather it helps boost the water table (refilling lakes & rivers faster) by creating more rainfall when storm clouds are present. This technique has been used for over 60 years. Currently, there are 7 major countries in the world regularly using it and spending tens of millions of dollars each year to do so in their agricultural sectors. One small state alone in the US spends $14 million a year on this to insure harvest production is supported for the crops that go into the worldwide food chain! Like all things, it has its down side too but in times of emergency, it’s a way of evening out the odds of survival of the masses for the greater good!!

@BalboaBaggins I agree 👍 I'm for Cain* However, Mother Earth hosts many predators that eat meat. She doesn't discriminate against meat eating. Natural selection helps with dietary choices in meaningful ways. In this case, the forest is being cut down for oil and some agricultural practices. @@markdoland7038 We have never seen droughts at this magnitude. And it's probably too late to do anything about it. Even if we could fix some of the problems, so much irreversible damage has already been done.
Climate change is a natural process of the earth, and the evidence for that is all over the world. It has happened many times before, and evidently, it's happening again. It would be nice if our governments around the world would stop politicizing it and start planning for the inevitable. WE DIDN'T CAUSE IT. WE CAN NOT STOP IT. We could do better at surviving it if we learn from history and apply modern technology in useful ways. Creating markets for new "green products" and claiming it's gonna stop the natural process of the earth is just idiocy. Here in the PNW there's no shortage of "fine sunny days" but it should be raining almost constantky. It will definitely burn again this year.
Amazon rainforest also rely on sandstorms, the dusts from sandstorms fertilized the amazon. I think there's not enough sandstorms to fertilized the amazon, here in Saudi Arabia, in my area, Al kharj, Riyadh I noticed that there's no sandstorms for almost two years now, maybe there is in other parts of KSA or in some other desert areas, but maybe, it's intensity diminished, and not enough to reach Amazon forest.

The biggest problem in the Amazon region is corruption. At Federal and local government levels we have incompetent and corrupted government!!! In a scenario like that is impossible to imagine a system able to sort out such big challenge… and regarding the corruption it seems that UN and the medias cartels love corrupt government!! Still, Brazil even facing corruption and incompetence has kept 85% of Amazon forest preserved… what about the forests in Europe? What about in France?

and some are still debating on climate change
Don't believe climate change!!!! I believe the world is full of wickedness that God Out Father doesn't approve of
Human lifestyle & needs have changed in a very environmentally damaging way post Industrial revolution & there is no going back. Any positive change or initiative is miniscule in front of needs of the huge human population.
Like all things, it has its down side too but in times of emergency, it’s a way of evening out the odds of survival of the masses for the greater good!!
cloud seedlings is the key !!

Mother Earth hears her children's cries
If you eat meat you're indirectly responsible for this too.
Which will affect increased CO2 levels more: oil production or soy fields? What about oil production or grazing cows?
Cain gave Produce to god, and Abel gave Sheep. However, throwing dogma at someone else's choices isn't a right to murder. Don't take it too far. Just do the best we can each day.
Please save our Earth 😢😢
Rain forest is not a choice it’s must to be protected for our human race survival!
Perhaps BBC can cover a documentary on developed countries contribution to pollution.
Thank you BBC for educating everyone on this. It's time for countries and rulers to take immediate action in preventing any further deterioration. Everyone has a role to play and the first thing should come from the nation leaders.
None of the current leaders give two shits what we have to say.
This is so sad and also scary. I wish people realized the consequences of their doings and started to act.
Its happening. We've always acted like it doesn't matter but now we feel the beginning of the end. 😢
I want to see more documentaries and news like this from permaculture/climate scientists with things that average everyday people can do all across the globe to help ease the tension of the ecosystems so we can help repair it. Not asking permission from governments or policy depending on them waiting for someone else to do it.
I think that would be valuable to start release like pro tips, and small changes around the home stead’s can actually do.
I love how they avoid the main issue - deforestation for cattle grazing is the #1 issue. People are eating a gluttonous amount of meat but noone wants to change their behaviour... even if it means saving ourselves. 🙄
The enormous boreal forests in Canada are also being destroyed and nobody is talking about it😢.
I wish I understood better. I have watched people turn desert into a green food growing, water flowing oasis. But the Amazon cannot sustain itself? What don’t I understand?
