Lifesaver.
Perfect, no stupid music, just exactly what was needed, a good view of internals and best practice on removing old cable and installing new. Keep up the good work.
Perfect "how-to". No stupid talks or music, informative, quick and clear tutorial. Thumbs up, greetings from Lithuania.
By far the best channel for bike repairs/maintenance, absolutely spot on straight to the point. Thankyou so much
Old guy repairing bikes for needy people and kids. Your are a great help RJ.
Perfect video. Great camera angel, easy to understand voice, no ridiculous music. Thank you.
To the rescue again!! Never fails to look up one of of your videos while keeping my family's bike fleet in order. Thank you!!
Cheers RJ! I was about to do exactly the same job and I'm glad I checked your video first. I was about to start removing the entire shifter because I didn't know about the click on cover! You have made a moderately difficult job easy!
The cover you popped off with the flat head screwdriver. I've since realized I need to order the whole shifter for that top snap in part cover. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video!
I have this exact shifter and needed to replace the cable after screwing the first one up during installation.
People like you posting videos like this allowed me to fix it myself!
Great channel by the way!!
Good one. I figured the slots for the tabs had something to do with removing the cover, but much better to confirm before bodging something up. Now I can proceed with confidence. Thanks
I had the exact same shifters as stock equipment on my Dahon Vitesse folding bike. I've since replaced the whole drivetrain with Tiagra 4600 parts and trigger shifters, but this is still a good peek at how to replace the cables. The only real downside of the SL-RS35 is the rubber collar that surrounds the grip shift - when it gets old it tends to move on its own and not mesh with the shifter any more.
I did this. Wish I'd found your video earlier however, because I've snapped the clip which holds the little number window off, so now it's broken. However, I can finally shift gears. Thanks. 👍
I'm about to replace a broke shifter cable on my bike (I'd snipped and capped it and ran it as a single speed) so this is rather helpful information.
Thank you RJ.
I'm so glad you had this tutorial up for the RevoShift shifters, saved me alot of time :D
This was what i wanted !! Im beginner and i dont want to give my cycle to thr repair shop..i thought i would do it by myself...and you thought me to remove it thank you !!!! ♡♡
Some people hate these revoshift shifters, however I have been using them for so long that I prefer them over STI shifters. They are very easy to work on as well. Good video.
do you know how to adjust them, i need to adjust mine and i don't know how
@@lachokbyo The Revoshift shifters use a plastic rotating dial that eventually ( if you shift more than usual) will wear out and will have to be replaced ( cheap on amazon for the ring dial). As far as adjusting them to what end ? for Shifting ?
Thank you, this video was very helpfull. My bike has that version with those two very little screws to fix the plastic cover of the shifter. You must be very carefull that you don't loose those small screws. A very little screwdriver is absolutly necessary.
So, thank you for this instruction video. Greetings from Germany. 👍
thank you Billl Murray, I never knew you were good at bicycle maintenance !
Many thanks. Just what I was looking for before bits of plastic ended up on the floor! My boy will be pleased I can fix his bike now.
This video sure helped me out,I didn't have a clue how to get the shifter cable off, this gave me the answer.I want to thank you so much for your educated videos.I have learned alot.Thank you so much

I need to do this on my kids bike and also lube the interior mechanism of the revoshift to work easier, I knew I’d find the how to on your channel 😂
Straight to the point and short video too!! THANK YOUU!!!
Thank you very much. I was familiar with the shifters that use the screws and was befuddled with this one. I presumed that the tab needed to be depressed and did not want to break the shifter. Once again thank you very much for your time and effort.
Never would have found that secret way in without the vid! Great stuff. Thanks.
Thank you bro youtube wasnt recomending me the video i need so i had to dig a little bit thank you for makeing this video and yes i found it useful
thank you again. I was trying to figure out how to change the cable. you saved me a lot of guesswork, trial & error. 👍
Thanks for posting that pal. Been pulling my hair out trying to figure how it came apart!
Every time I see this bike I can't believe the fantastic deal you got it for ! The bike looks like brand new except for some rust on the steel parts . It looks they bought the thing never rode it and stored it outside .
Played wth this over and hour till I watched your vid. Fixed in seconds! thank you so much.
Boyang
Great tutorial. Quick and explanatory. Thanks
One question. My left hand shifter for the three gears on the front of the bike is now snapping on 7 increments instead of three, after the cable replacement. Any hint on how to fix that? Thanks
Straightforward, no nonsense. Clear camera angles. You're my effin' hero.
Hey Mcloud you are the one who helped me, thanks:D
Perfect! That was exactly what I needed. 🙏
Many thanks for the information. Saved a lot of stress.
Additional thanks for mentioning about another type of Revoshift 👍
I have been using the Sram grip shifters on most of my bikes, but these look a whole lot easier when changing cables. I think I may switch over. Thanks for the video.
There are some of the SRAM GripShift shifters that are even easier. ua-cam.com/video/F_kbW2x3Bc0/v-deo.html
Thank you. Although my shifter cable is fine the handle does not 'ratchet' into place but, I think you've shown me what I need to see.
Maybe, I'll let let you know ;)
Yep. It was what I needed. To see.
The mechanism was stuck.
It just needed what we all need.
Some attention and a bit of lubrication.
Exact, detailed and Short: super
Thank you again for a nice guide!!! 👍
thanks so much bro this helped alot
Practical and objective What is the model of this swivel shifter?I have already searched the internet How to change the front cable of the bike on the front swivel shifter SL-RS36-7 SHIMANO, SINGAPORE 22.2, Mitt Enangind?

Super!!! Thank you very much. I have seen your videos recently and they are very useful to me..
Great video! Do you have one to fix revoshift not showing the correct number in the shift window?
Thanks that helped me alot ❤️
I came here to replace the cable grommets but was afraid of not being able to reroute the cable since it's pinched at the holder. This will allow me to replace the cable too and clean under the cables.
My shimano revoshifter gear are not work smoothly they getting hard in rotating please help please...... You are best
ua-cam.com/video/07Bc0QkudW8/v-deo.html
Bro how to clean this shifters
Exactly what I was after. Thanks
Stainless gear and brake cables are preferable to galvanised, especially if they may get exposed to road salt and my favourite cables are Jagwire Slick, they are noticeably smoother if you run a finger along them, and run smoother in use.
Good vid, very helpful thanks.
Thank you, p e r f e c t ! 0:59 was what I didn't know.
Thank you!
Adam from Poland.
Great video, helped me to rewire mine in about 15min.
You saved my butt thankyou
Great tutorial as always RJ.
Awsesome. Just what we were looking for.
Idk why im watching this my cable isnt broken. But your tutorial really helped cuz i replaced them cuz they were too rusty
And wearing off
Thank you, man, you helped me a lot!
No lubrication needed?
Right on need. Thanks
Hey RJ have you done a 1 x 10 speed conversion yet? Are they possible on retro bikes or only modern ones?
this is what im looking for... very helpful Ty...
Any idea where to get the plastic cover replacement? My daughters Liv 7 speed the cover cracked. Everything else works. Thanks Matt
What plastic cover? Part of the shifter? Replace the shifter. Parts like that are not available.
Cable housing? At a bike shop.
I need the other end of the cable, this was informative but it only covered half of the process. Is there another video for the derailleur end?... Thanks!
That is shown in many of my other videos and is not specific to this shifter.
excelente video muy bien explicado justo lo que estaba buscando para reemplazar los cables de mis cambiadores saludos desde mexico
thx bro... it helps me..
This was excellent, thank you for posting!
good information ..can you make video about how to repair puncture.
RJ I bought a bike with these shifters and some Promax brakes, thing is i've never had brake levers that have so much play (up and down) before, is this ok?
Is there anything I can do, i notice there is one bolt running through the lever............... Guess it doesn't really matter, but it's annoying how much they wiggle in my hand.
Спасибо! Очень понятливо показал.
excelente explicación
Hey RJ I have this exact shifter and one day while riding the click mechanism just broke. I can still shift just no click. is there something I can do to fix this issue or should I just replace the shifter. Thanks and great videos!
You can try taking it apart, I am more familiar with SRAM GripShift shifters. They have a small plastic or metal ratchet part. These may have something similar. But if it is broken, it is broken. I doubt you can find a replacement. But maybe it just slipped or something. Worth a shot if the alternative is replacement anyway. Personally I like GripShift shifters of Revoshift shifters. Better yet, I like trigger shifters over twist shifters.
+RJ The Bike Guy Thanks! I'll look into it. Any good online bike shops you would recommend that sell decent parts?
All too easy - nice job!
muchas gracias desde chile
Thank for the sharing dude!
hello rj , first i want to thank you for all your vidéo but i have a knew question with my shifter cable changing , since i put the new cable whitch is thinner; i have more difficulty to change the speed , Can it be due to the size of my new shifter cable? thank you for your answer.
ua-cam.com/video/07Bc0QkudW8/v-deo.html
What is the other role? Ci-deck plus system?
Can you do a video on how to adjust limited screws?
Can your shifter fit in a 31.8mm handlebar
what number should you put on to make the bike go faster
Bigger - faster - lower RPM. Lower - slower - higher RPM.
Thank you !
Thank you for help
ok....very good....my friend.....thank you......from SPAIN
Great video. I got a problem with the shifter itself though. It only shifts between 6th and 7th gear. I cannot drop to a lower gear. Seems jammed for some reason. Any idea how to fix that?
ua-cam.com/video/gwBQxhZhKnE/v-deo.html
@@RJTheBikeGuy Tx for the prompt reply. Not often one gets such a quick reply. However I dont think I explained myself well. The problem I hv is not with the gears but with the shifter. I hv the same or similar shifter as in the video above (Shimano Revoshift SL-RS35) and that is wht is stuck between 6 and 7. I hv gone thru ur videos for a how to fix and either I hv missed it or it isnt there. Once again tx for your quick reply.
@@miguelferreira1457 I can't tell you without working on the bike. Shifting system is shifter, cable, derailleur. Issue can be in any or all of these. Isolate the issue and fix it. Or replace it.
@@RJTheBikeGuy Will do. Thank you for your help.
Video yang sangat membantu. Trimakasih. 🖒
Love ❤ this video
Hello
I have a revoshifter but I find it very stiff when I’m going from gear 7 to gear 1
Is it the design of the shifter that I have to go one by one (for example 7-6-5 etc up to 1) or I have a flaw in it?
Now if I am on 7 and if want to go to 3 it’s very very stiff, I have to go gradually before I reach upper gears
Thanks

This was really helpful thank u very much
Thanks! Saved my day!
thank you very much
Thanks big help
Love you brother💓
How to remove cable without cutting wire please reply I am your biggest fan
Cables wear out. It's good to replace them once in a while.
If you really want to replace the inner wire without cutting it (although I don't know why you would) it's just a matter of undoing the binder bolt on whichever derailleur it goes to and pulling it through the shifter. But RJ is correct. The inner wires will stretch over time and should be replaced periodically.
