    Explain Jesus physical and mental torment in Gethsemane and his cry on the cross, " my God, my God, shy have you forsaken me". Lastly Jesus died very suddenly, pilate was amazed he died unlike other crucified victims for hours or day's.

    • @maciejpieczula631
      @maciejpieczula631 Рік тому

      Jesus was citing Psalm 22, and in the original Greek it says that he was "saying", implying that he was saying the whole Psalm and maybe even repeating it.
      And, yes Pialte was surprised that Jesus died so quickly on the cross because most victims took longer than Jesus did to die, but it was not unheard of to die within a few hours of being crucified. In fact, sometimes the beatings laid upon the victims before they were crucified were so horrendous that the victims were killed by the beatings.

    • @frederickanderson1860
      @frederickanderson1860 Рік тому

      @@maciejpieczula631 so he was going through a act of just repeating a psalm , but you have not addressed his sweat as blood which is a medical condition through extreme stress and he asked his disciples to pray 3 times for him.

    • @maciejpieczula631
      @maciejpieczula631 Рік тому

      @frederickanderson1860 okay..., you originally didn't say anything about his sweat as blood, which their is evidence for on the shroud of Turin, and the torment you mentioned Jesus felt is self-explanatory because he knew what was about to happen to him.
      Are you trying to ask a question with your reply?

    • @frederickanderson1860
      @frederickanderson1860 Рік тому

      @@maciejpieczula631 my reply is obvious, if Jesus was the son of God, from all eternity, he was the logos of John chapter 1 v 1-2, he must have known from his birth his destiny. Therefore logically speaking why was he tormented in Gethsemane and he knew his heavenly father would raise him fr the dead, Jesus said so, destroy this temple, and l raise it up in 3 days. The blood on the shroud was from the flogging and the crown of thorns and the wound from his side, nothing to do with his sweat as blood before his torture and crucifixion.

    • @maciejpieczula631
      @maciejpieczula631 Рік тому

      @frederickanderson1860 there is a phenomenon that people under extreme stress can sweat blood in a particular way, and some of that is reflected on the shroud of Turin. And just because someone knows that a particular thing is going to happen to them, but afterward, they'll be fine, does not mean that they don't fear the process. Many people are deathly afraid of the dentist, so much so that they have physical symptoms before they go even though they know they'll be fine after.

    He’s not a freakin theologian! He plays one apparently because his intros always include that moniker. He has no advanced degrees in Theology, he’s never taught Theology proper (“Catholic Studies” is not real Theology), & he has not written anything of academic Theology (only “popular” level stuff that’s somewhat theology-related).

    • @marysanchez6382
      @marysanchez6382 Рік тому +1

      I take it you’re not a Weigel fan, but besides your criticism of his CV, what’s the substance of your complaint?

    • @scientiaexpandinghorizons
      @scientiaexpandinghorizons Рік тому +1

      He’s just full of himself. Anyone who would pretend to be an expert in a field in which he is not is pretentious already. I don’t disagree with his esteem for JPII. Yet, he thinks enough of himself to disagree with the great philosopher-theologian on application of just war criteria, for instance, which is quite haughty of him, given that Wojtyla’s particular expertise was precisely ethics.
      P.S. Bishop Barron is an actual theologian, hence why Word on Fire simply calls Weigel “an eminent thinker and papal biographer.” But the autobiographical intro in the interview, which says he’s a theologian, was written by Weigel - I know, as one who has done little interviews, etc., of my own (as a theologian).
