@@QFSAviationjust for some info, Air inuit has plans to retire their -200 fleet by 2025, however Chrono and Nolinor have no such plans (at least that i could find) and Nolinor specifically says they're likely keeping their -200 fleet into the 2030s.
The 737-200 is an absolute legend of the northern skies of the Arctic. From Alaska Airlines and MarkAir to Canadian North and Air Inuit, anyone who grew up flying in these birds will never forget the impact they had on us. Thank you for capturing this last flight.
@@QFSAviation It's alright lol, If i'm correct you are just now starting college which would mean you don't have much free time, I completely understand, lol.
Long live the -200, flew in many during the 80s, Canadian airlines, Canadian North, CP Air, Pacific Western and almost got a cargo lift up to Yellowknife from Edmonton in 1993, many good memories of that original 737 model!!
Thank you for sharing this Quintin! Awesome video! I still have green grass growing here in southeast Iowa! Most weather models show us having a relatively mild winter! I appreciate all of your videos! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well! Mark in Iowa.
Air Inuit still operates the 737-200 on scheduled passenger flights. I think they’re keeping those jets for a few more years. It’s just very pricey tickets $$$
Thank you for sharing the 200 combi is such a classic and important piece of aviation history! And it is a BEAUTIFUL aircraft! I’ve always wanted to fly on one and travel to the Canadian north this past flight is a true gift to all on board. Those classic narrow Pratt and Whitney low bypass JT8D engines look so good imo but of course their efficiency is unfortunately very outdated. Nonetheless amazing aircraft! It will be missed by many.
Flew on one of these from YEG->YZF->YRB on a charter with 20,000lbs of cargo back in 2005. The loss of the -200s is a big loss to places like Resolute with their gravel runways.
Iam a Australian and in 1986 there was an airline named Norcanair is that airline still apprates. I went to Canada in 1986 and 1988 working on farms in Saskatchewan.
Assuming this aircraft hasn't reached the limit of its cycles, it could continue flying for a bit more if it were re-engined with superior CF34-8 power - with those engines, it would save 15% on fuel costs
@@QFSAviation to move roughly 24000lbs cargo we need 2 freighters and usually the second flight is in the evening. which is sometimes cancel due to crew timing out . also it is just a small crew here that ends up doing both flight so guys are tired the next day
It’s all adjustable depending on the passenger demand. They can configure the cargo door based on how many pallets they want and the amount of seats needed.
You're pretty brave to fly on that old machine, i think its time they scrapped it. I think i flew on that when Pacific Western owned it and it wasn't very pleasant to fly on it then...the 200's are so loud! I loved the history photos of the plane and i love watching the buckets when reversing
I think if you flew for 43 years you would need some maintenance as well, so to call such a great plane a nuisance and unreliable I don't think is fair. She has served the Canadian greatly for many years and she did it still safely. She will always be remembered as a great bird from another time in the golden time of aviation.
You couldn’t pay me to fly an ATR-42 in that climate. Those ATRs have atrocious flying characteristics in freezing precipitation, and the smarter airlines moved all of their ATR fleets to warm climates decades ago. CN is just asking for trouble operating an aircraft incapable of staying aloft in anything approaching freezing conditions.
That was excellent. I watched the entire video with fascination (even though I'm supposed to be studying!). I moved to Canada in '79 as a young teenager with my family, so may have flown on this a/c when she was with PWA or Canadian. Thanks for sourcing all those fantastic historic photos of the plane when she was wearing different liveries, I haven't seen many other UA-camrs do that before. That was sure lucky the passenger in front of you didn't recline his seat - one of the reasons I don't fly anymore. I'm 6'3 and can't afford first class! Looking forward to future adventures. Cheers, Logan, BC 🍁
That’s so cool they had the guy who *picked up the plane from the Boeing factory* on this flight. Hope you got an opportunity to chat with him…sad beyond belief to see the last vestiges of the 200 starting to fade, but what a run. Well over a half century of reliability flying day and night, all day every day for many of those years…one of the most significant fleets in the history of commercial aviation.
Traveling for half a decade I always kept asking myself who the 100% is drinking tomato juice. Now here is the solution, Canadian North Pax are that cold tomato soup consumers 😎👍🏼 By the way - excellent video ❤️
My first flight on a 737 -200 was back in the late '60s when I was still a pre-teen. Today I am 65 so it is amazing that this jet made it this far. One thing that I have always felt looked better on the -200 vs "Next Gen" was the tail fin. IMO the tail was more elegant looking than that of the "Next Gen" 737's. I still have vivid memories of sitting behind the wing and watching those clam-shell thrust reversers go into action on touchdown. Great video!
Thank you Quintin for that awesome video, been waiting for you to post it since you left YCB, I had the honor of being the last person to marshall the flight into Cambridge Bay, I have previously worked on offloading/loading GDPA since 2007.
Thank you documenting this. As a teen, I flew the 200 back and forth from Newark to Kalamazoo (via Dayton) on Piedmont. Great memories and a solid aircraft.
Wow Quintin, what a wonderful Video. It was a real treat to watch this one, because you hardly get to see, how commercial Airline Business works on such a remote Place. Thank you so much.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Have a great rest of your week 🦃
So sad to see a classic go. Thanks for documenting this 😢
It's sad everytime the industry loses a unique and rare jet. But the 737-200 is still flying in Quebec with Air Inuit and Nolinor for the near future!

It's time to let go of the past.
As a Canadian, it’s really sad to hear that most of the Canadian airlines that had the 737-200 are retiring it.
Verdade 😢 Agora Com a Nova Geração Chegando
yeah cuz 737-200 is old asf
@@hexagon250 Yes that’s true, but it’s an amazing and beautiful aircraft, if not maybe even Iconic

We have a 737 Canadian North parked up here in Hamburg Germany
I sincerely hope they won’t scrap that plane after they take it out of service! I hope it will get repurposed! Mark.

What a historic flight!
I have a model of the 737-200...

Great plane, great airline, great livery...Wish they kept the polar bear livery on all their planes
Took a chance flying on that thing!!

What a nice timeless experience.....
Really fascinating journey! I was surprised by the wildfire damage - those don’t look like inhabited areas, so was it caused by lightning?
Great report!
In venezuela there are still several 737-200s in operation and dc9s as well.

Canadian North are getting some 700s from SAS, eg LN-TUM. Just like the pre Aeromexico in the arrival scene.
I remember flying on the Ryanair ones when they still have them when I was 10. I believe Ryanair’s 737-200s were ex Continental airlines aircraft.

sad to see the 200 leave

Fantastic video!🛫
Thoughts on the high tech TSA screeners
no matter how many problems we had with that plane i personally think it would have been better as a cargo plane then the atr freighter we have now
I’m curious what your thoughts are on the ATR freighter. Are the economics poor? I know the range is pretty iffy.

So with this last flight, how many 737-200s left doing gravel flights in Canada now?
Awesome video! My friend Bayley is from Canada.
great meeting you today enjoy your trip to greenland..
I wonder where the airplane will end up in the Mojave desert?
There is no other jet for gravel runways
Was it significantly louder than a 737-800 in the back of the cabin?
Yes 😂 it was a higher pitch and the cabin noise was noticeable louder
Fly to Omaha sometime please!!!
