    The only thing I see that I’m not a fan of is the air in the heel. To me, that’s a compromise and a major failure point due to puncture or wear.

      If you’re only on snow I don’t see a problem.

    That heel design does not look like it will hold up very well.

      I would be tempted to drill a couple of holes in each cavity and fill with 3M 5200.

    This is great! Love the new boot with improved design.
    I agree with other comments I’d rather a solid sole with improved durability than extra air insulation with a chance of puncture or wear through!
    Having used my bunnies at work doing construction and as my go to boot for all winter activities I can imagine a nail, running board, sharp stick etc. poking a hole in the bottom, creating a ICE CUBE TRAY in my boot.
    Love that you have a super thick insole!
    I emailed too hope I’m chosen out of the 10k applicants but regardless can’t wait to buy them! Would love side by side pictures!

    One of the best features of the original boots was how flexible they are around the ankle and gusset. You can work or walk distance in them without chafing or blistering. The copies I have tried are way too stiff.

    Can wait to grab a pair when we transition to full time Alaska content!

    It was necessary to deconstruct that boot. It hurt to watch, but was cool to see inside. Thanks.

    Pro tip…it’s the rubber on the Beta boots that make them the best, it comes from a specific region of Indonesia.

    Bata tread dosn't pick up snow. Will the new ak gear boot pick up snow. get into tread and stick, weigh boot down, slip resistant.

    Love to see it. I’ve already emailed but I think you guys would be missing out if you don’t do some kinda ski appropriate welting.
    Finnish Nokian boot.
    Also the reasons the Batas are top tier is how soft and pliable they are around the ankle/gusset. I hope AGCs are similar!

    Air pockets in the heal?! ... boy, that's not insulation, that's called cheating on quality (a.k.a reducing the life of the product, significantly)

    when will they hit the market

  • @misc.2682

    Okay, but what materials are the new boots made of? Is the interior of the boot (where the insulation is) completely sealed? And why did you ditch the air vent? We need more information, please!

    • @sockeyesalmonslayer
      @sockeyesalmonslayer 8 місяців тому

      The air vent was only ever needed if your using them for high altitude/airborne stuff.

    • @misc.2682
      @misc.2682 8 місяців тому +2

      @sockeyesalmonslayer I'm aware of that... Doesn't answer why it was taken away... My point is, either they took it away because the inside of the boot (where the insulation is) is not sealed from the exterior air (which was like the whole point of the origional bunny boot) or they will inflate at higher altitude. Now, it may be the case that since they're not being made for the military (like the origionals were) they didn't think the valve was nessicary, but that may make it so that bush pilots can't wear them during flight which seems to cut out a portion of their market. Although I don't know if it is necessary to have vents at the altitude that bush pilots fly. However if it is... seems like they should have figured out how to implement the valve instead of making a gimmicky design, keeping the popular esthetic of the original boot while taking away the functionality of that thing that even made the esthetic exist in the first place. Makes it look like the entire boot is a gimmick, especially if they don't adress the questions I posed!

      it is a weak point on the original bunny boots, where moisture can get inside and cause mold and such.@@misc.2682

    Would be interesting if there was a BOA version for quick on and off use applications, like snowboarding, or a velcro version for people with diabetes (i.e. bad circulation)
