I'd rather have the original paint.
i love the orange peel on the paint
And the dust in the paint didn’t even take the the stainless centre piece off with the repaint
@@shaneruthven jesus mate its been 4 years lol
artburo1 has summed it all up perfectly. I've owned and driven these cars for over thirty years, and Mr Fleming shouldn't underestimate the knowledge that some of us possess. I also attended the Rolls-Royce School of Instruction. Would I buy a car from this man? No!
paint sucks,did they use Maaco?
With ads like this, it's a wonder you stay in business! Apparently a lot of other commenters agree with me.
+youtoobe169 And what the fuck is that cheap stereo in that majestic car?????....:P
+youtoobe169 We ALL agree with you!.
Real snake oil salesman.
Great car, just a couple of pointers I could spot from the video. The paint could really benefit from a wet-sand/polish since it has some orange peal and dust flakes and other blemishes in it. And with the passenger door open at 9:00 you can see a flap on the interior that has become undone. Probably a clip that failed or so. Other than this, as said good looking car.
Are you for certain no aluminum was used this car's construction?
thank you for easy using manual to understand 🌷🌷🌷😊
He Is such a sleazy looking salesman
It has 2 SU Carb
. There's no injection. If you look well, you can see the carburetors in the engine
Wow, this flashy diamond-tooth used car salesman knows nothing about Rolls Royces. Buyers beware.
This is not a magnificent, beautiful, pristine, yada yada yada example.
Where do I start?- cheap respray, not fuel injected, not a Merlin engine (LOL!), not hand beaten panels (Pressed Steel semi mass produced, finished by RR) and the "umbrella" in the trunk?- give us a break!.
Us real RR owners are sitting here laughing....
+Nick A But he even offered to take the vinyl top off for you! And then put it back on if you want that! He'll even take it off very carefully and put double sided tape all over the inside of it so you can keep it in your garage and when you feel like its a vinyl top kind of day, stick it on! Not a vinyl top kind of day? Leave it off! He's the best!!
Nick A:... ideeed so!!!
You're right, twin SU's in clear view, plus the bodies for these were machine pressed by Pressed Steel Fisher Ltd (a British Leyland subsidiary). Only the Phantom, Corniche and Camargue were hand built (at RR's own coachbuilding subsidiary, Mulliner Park Ward).
Yes, they supplied the completed shells ready for paint, trim, mechanicals, etc.
I noticed the orange peel on the bonnet as well . original rr paint job is so thick and a proper re spray would cost £5000 + I expect and it also has twin su carbs.
This guy looks right at the twin SU carburetors and says the car is fuel injected. Then he says the body was hand built/formed from sheet; actually the panels were made by Pressed Steel of Coventry for RR. The example looks better than it likely is-much evidence of 'tarting up' for the sale-painted engine parts, redyed door panels, and especially, the orange peel paint. The 18k miles are probably 118k-1976 RR odometers started over at 100k. And judging, too, by the sleazy look of the salesman, I'd say, "buyer beware."
that paint job looks like some shit look at all the orange peel
I don’t think this guy knows a thing about Rolls Royce. He currently can’t tell the difference between fuel injected and carbureted engines.
I have Mink floor mats they came with the car, this car was rebuilt
Additionally, this car's gear range selector lever is incorrectly positioned, it isn't finelined, the air vents are not called "organ holes", list goes on.
+JSD HK Exactly, they're called "bullseyes". Totally agree, flashy used car salesman out to make a quick buck.
we were even duped in the 70s American auto box, French suspension!!! and it still goes on today why cant companies be honest with the car buyer.
Can some one tell me if these cars are ridiculously expensive to keep ?? Assuming it's fairly good to begin with.
Count on fifteen thou per year (with minimal driving). That can be a GOOD thing, if you don't drive it much (families keep these at houses which are not their primary residences, in places like Cap Ferrat, Palm Beach, and Beverly Hills), and, if you have really good people to work on them (and/or take them to the Mechanic). You get as much (or more, depending on color and model) cachet with an old RR, for far less money. Why tie up half-a-million, in a car which sits at your family's third home?
Beautiful blue!
So beautiful thank you very much
On sale in the UK £8 - £10.000
Orange peeling bad.
Beautiful car, but i see mistakes in the paint. Should not have re-painted it. Should have left the original paint if it was in good condition.
Except it is not fuel injected (as quite a few noticed), the rolls was known to be the only car in the world to make the speedo climb without the people inside feeling acceleration at all ;)
More to the point, though, this car may be very reliable, but all of the hydraulics are connected, so if there is one small problem, NOTHING works...
+Alex Keil Agreed, but the hydraulics are actually very reliable- if maintained!. I'm thinking this particular RR has not been maintained.....
*****
Well... Everything is reliable if properly mantained... The difference is what properly mantained means. For a vw bus it means putting in something that is nearly oil into the engine once a decade, for a RR it means (and always has meant) going to a RR dealer every 4 months to have everything set up properly. But then you would prefer driving the Rolls :)
These RR hydraulics officially need a fluid change/filter clean every 2 years, but plenty of guys let it go an extra year without any real hassle. And you don't need RR themselves- trained independent RR mechs usually charge around $200 for the job- not bad. A good Shadow maintained properly costs around a grand a year in servicing- far less than what your average modern shitbox depreciates by!. Sure, these arent for everyone but the way I see it, I got a nice appreciating classic Rolls for less than a modern Ford!.
Salesman also mistakes the "jack" in the trunk for an umbrella. Hope by now, seven years later, he knows a little bit more about these cars. He makes a lot of off-the-cuff assumptions.
Lemmings motors. Perfect. I can tell on my iPhone that the paint job is bad.
Under the hood, you can see the carburettors! It's never a 'fuel injection' car, like the guy sais...!
Yup, 2 SU carbs in clear view & he says it's fuel injected - hilarious!
How much does it cost
Man I just can't imagine this as a stock Rolls Royce colour.,
paint is good but could of sanded that orange peel all out to a smooth finish. love the car.
you guys are awesome!!! :D
RR Silver Shadow is fairly cheep in the UK, You get one for same price of a Ford Granada..
Maybe in the US they don´t know it, Cheep but beautiful RR
Oh my memories
The high pressure brake fluid leaks
The scarcity of the Castor special brake fluid
The brake one and brake two lights
The two step pedals
The R 12 AC
The underpowered brakes
The rapid tire wear
The 13 MPG
Premium fuel
The GM 400
$600 brake pad renewing
Lexus 400 rode better
LRE ----- grey And SRE ----- green
Goodnight wherever you are.
Now that sounds like someone who knows what they're talking about!
I was thinking of buying one (running project) to drive daily just because I love older cars. Not to be flashy or anything. Is it worth it?
I guess you bought a clunker. A poorly maintained Shadow will eat your life savings. A well maintained Shadow drives so well-and quite reliably-you will think you've died and gone to Heaven.
Excellent Colour, it combines with Ukraine.
LOL He says fuel injected while staring at two dashpots.
a fuel injection did not seen ! SU carburettors fixed.
How much is this car I love it.
THAT PAINT IS TERRIBLE, LOOK AT THE HOOD.
The bottom drops out of these when they are RE paints. That shows careless pre ownership and brings suspicion of things that makes these value less. Such as where are the before check point photographs before the car was re painted? Was there surface rust or dents that were filled with some filler? So that 18k on the engine means nothing. That car is worth about 12k and that's all! I have been in the business for 46 years. And the paint being mirror shiny means nothing because kim enamel for 40 dollars a gallon is shinier that acrylic or lacquer. So the shiniest can be the cheapest paint but doesn't last but only 3 years if the car sits out side. BTW that car cost between 85k and 120k brand new. If that car does not have detailed check point photographs of before it was re painted it can never have more value than 12k. Without this this car if the inner quarter panels were removed could have metal pushed inward and drill holes to pull dents and rust, so even at 12k dollars it could be a liability. And at the RR motor company those hoods are not hand made, but are done in mass volume same as general motors. Because if each contour is crafted and edge it can only involve filler. Because of you hammer a contour or metal to a shape then for straightness you must add filler
Hand beaten from flat sheets. I shit my jocks laughing. Oh boy BA ha ha ! The paint looks as if it's been applied with a roller you'd use to paint the walls in your kitchen.
+Michael Paradisis Exactly, the wrong type of Roller!.
the camaro in blue in the back is beautiful too. I rather have the RR tho.
Id buy it for 15k
He is stunning the umbrella my god but he is correct her and ther
I buy a car from him yes the car is not bad it is a R-R
forget the warranty if you are not a lawyer
Whites the best color in this year, anyone know why you can pick these things up for $25,000? When I think Rolls I think of a half a mil or more.
Dirt Publicity the reason you can pick these cars up for $25,000.00 or even less in some cases is because the people who buy these cars either know Nothing about maintaining a Rolls Royce or do not have the money it takes to properly care for it .
As a result critical routine maintenance is never done, they just Drive the cars until something fails and the car is no longer drivable, then they are faced with an enormous repair bill which they can't pay, so they either sell the car as is or they higher some backyard mechanic to gerry-rig the car enough to make it drivable so it can be sold for a little more.
These days you almost never find an older Silver Shadow that does not need a lot of work to bring it back up to what it once was, of course not all old Shadows are run down and in need of costly repairs but there are enough of them out there being sold dirt cheap because they are in such neglected shape that it pushes the price down on the ones that are still in good running order
Good reply, y jon. And it's important to note that if the car is to be located far from competent, honest, specialists, one needs the resources to transport either the car or the specialists - regularly. These are great cars for keeping at family homes (the sort owned by family trusts or corporations, for the use of extended families) in places where there are great RR mechanics, and where there are concentrations of wealthy and important people, among whom it is important to maintain a certain stature. These are basically the limits for the feasibility and usefulness of older RRs. Newer ones are useful for a different but overlapping set of applications.
8:40 cracked up dash
That is a orange peel shitty paint job!! Really? What a shame.
Maaaaaaaannnnn
They could've atleast cleaned that rusty tool wrench in Cocoa Cola.
Not classy enough to sell a Rolls. And the background music sucks.
salesmen.
What's with the damn background music....
So pretty!! Check out the champagne yellow/brown top Silver Shadow I featured in my latest episode: ua-cam.com/video/LwVG63woBt4/v-deo.html
