These are flat, so all you need is a flat piece on the back and rivet both together. If you wanted more of a 90/10 use foam and vac form both pieces at the same time.
@@alamedacustomholsters Thanks for the insight. When doing holsters this way would you want to use a piece of foam with a cutout for gun to get fairly equal sides? Hope that makes sense
ivan acuna the cheapest place to buy it would be ThermaPress, it’s about $50 for 2. You can get away with 1/8 foam and get the same results, plus it’s cheaper.
Could you please tell me how long your pieces of the beam where you used looks like 24”x24” I’m putting my list together read where some pieces on Amazon came warped so my guess is order shorter lengths rather than cut long ones down to avoid that issue thanks for your input
Alameda Holsters Yes it is the frame pieces I was reading some of the comments on amazon where people bought longer lengths of the makers beam to cut to length and they where warped? I hate trying to remember conversion from mm to inches ! Should have paid better attention in math class! Got distracted by girls!
Turkey Creek Knives I usually get it in 4’ pieces, the 80/20 frame is really solid, it would take a lot to bend it. I then cut it down, it is available in 1’ pieces precut.
Chris, base is a piece of Corian, I used a 5/8 forsner bit, then threaded it with a brass dishwasher elbow I had by hand, it's soft material, so not hard at all.
Hey Tony, I know you said a curved jig would probably work in the DIY press, but have you tried it? Mine does flat stuff really well, but I can't seem to get a good seal with my curved jig. It seems to "tent" the membrane around the frame I'm using and I can't get a good seal. Suggestions?
I found the issue. My rubber membrane is too small. It keeps bunching up in the corners of the frame causing leaks. If you've had any success with a curved jig I'd love to see it in action so I know what I need to do. Thanks
Thank you. I'll try the neoprene, but I went ahead and bought a press from HD for use with the curved jig. If I end up not using it a lot, I can always sell it I'm sure. I know you hear this all the time, but I appreciate all of the help you give the community. I've learned so much from your videos.
Lee McGann you only have two choices, HD industrial has them, as well as ThermaPress, ThermaPress has them for $50 plus for two of them. Hope that helps.
Does your Harbor Freight pump put out oil mist? I just finished my setup and my 3cfm 2-stage HF pump mists oil. Internet search says most HF pumps do it. Just curious if mine is plumbed wrong or is defective.
ewewell the $25 one what HD uses on some of the vacs they sell, it’s worth it, but shipping will get you, unless you go over the $100 for free shipping.
ofc474 the bigger the pump the better, but you have guys getting great results with the HF, I have the Robinair 8cfm also and it goes toe to toe with the HF. It comes down to heat and pressure, if you hit the heat just right you’ll get great results every time.
Alameda Holsters so it's all up and running and seals well but only with a green scotch brite under whatever I'm forming. It also won't hold seal after I turn it off and I'm wondering if its because my surface area is a mdf board although smooth probaly not better than what your using.
ofc474 I don’t know if the MDF board is porous, if it is it won’t hold, I’ve had guys try it and they end up painting it or applying a sealer to the wood.
If you are doing wallets you can use a Quad jig and use a bigger piece of material, but you have to work fast if you are trying to do a couple mags, etc.....the material will cool to fast and its start over time.
certified30 it's .032, I'd contact Blacksheep Tactical on FB, he would be the lowest price, and/or ThermaPress.net would be the second lowest in cost. Tell them I sent you.
Well, I'm going to finally give this a try Tony. As anything changed/ updated since this video that you can recommended? Are you still using this? I mainly want to use this to make dump trays from Plan B's mold.
miguel candedo rodriguez rubber silicone membrane, you can contact Blacksheep tactical on Facebook, he has the best price. Or ThermaPress and HD industrial has it.
You should use a yoga mat instead of that too flexible membrane that's leaving creases. See video about using surge tank, uses blue yoga mats, very cool system.
Best place is Ebay, the 80/20 store, its $12.00 for a 4' piece, plus $12.00 shipping, just cut it down to 1' sections, they also have the screws and square nuts at that store.
It can be used both ways, more waste membraneless, the new way of doing it is using 1/4 closed cell foam instead of a membrane, giving you top notch detail.
Ebay has the 80/20 store, they have everything you need, I just bought a 4' piece and cut it to 12", 4- each. Look at ThermaPress or HD design for pre-cut membrane.
How do you do the opposite side with these? Wouldn't you want the kydex halved fairly equal on both sides to have material to rivet?
These are flat, so all you need is a flat piece on the back and rivet both together. If you wanted more of a 90/10 use foam and vac form both pieces at the same time.

What is the name of the net under the red gun? I want to search on amazone
Scotchbrite pad
Where did you buy the membrane?
ivan acuna the cheapest place to buy it would be ThermaPress, it’s about $50 for 2. You can get away with 1/8 foam and get the same results, plus it’s cheaper.
Alameda Holsters thank you, do you have a video how you made the frame? It looks great, or did you buy it? Thanks!!
ivan acuna ua-cam.com/video/dE9fZiAbB1w/v-deo.html
Alameda Holsters thank you! Is it possible to use mdf to make a frame? Or do you think it would leak?
ivan acuna frame yes, it will work, even picture frames would work. Dollar Store would be a cheap source
Can you share a link to the membrane please?

Thanks. But i can't ship it to my country:(

Turkey Creek Knives are you talking about the aluminum frame?
Alameda Holsters
Yes it is the frame pieces I was reading some of the comments on amazon where people bought longer lengths of the makers beam to cut to length and they where warped?

Awesome! Thank you so much. I'll be building one soon, it looks like your minimalist former does the job.

BP 120 try the 1/4 neoprene in place of the membrane, should solve the issue of tenting- that’s one reason I have to have frame type vac presses.
Thank you. I'll try the neoprene, but I went ahead and bought a press from HD for use with the curved jig. If I end up not using it a lot, I can always sell it I'm sure. I know you hear this all the time, but I appreciate all of the help you give the community. I've learned so much from your videos.
BP 120 awesome, the HD is a solid vac former and Victor with HD stands by it, you’ll be happy. Anytime brother on the helping.👊👊
Trust me does, others have drilled a hole in coffee tables and getting great results.
I know this is an older video...
Where do you get the membrane from?
Lee McGann you only have two choices, HD industrial has them, as well as ThermaPress, ThermaPress has them for $50 plus for two of them. Hope that helps.
Alameda Holsters thank you
Hey, what kind of material is that membrane? Thx
Does your Harbor Freight pump put out oil mist? I just finished my setup and my 3cfm 2-stage HF pump mists oil. Internet search says most HF pumps do it. Just curious if mine is plumbed wrong or is defective.
BP 120 yes sir, they all put out mist, it’s nothing major, my RobinAir makes a bigger mess with the mist. Sounds like you’re right on track.👊
Alameda Holsters Thanks for the quick reply. I initially thought it was smoke and I had a bad pump. Good old internet to the rescue!!!!
What you think about the membrane that index fasteners sells
ewewell the $25 one what HD uses on some of the vacs they sell, it’s worth it, but shipping will get you, unless you go over the $100 for free shipping.
Alameda Holsters wow thx
Oh my your were right almost 18 bucks shipping wow I wonder if I can make my on lol
How big is the hole in the base?
ewewell use the 1/4 neoprene foam from Amazon, works the same
If I went with a 3fm two stage from harbour freight does that change the dynamics of anything? Or is 3fm overkill?
ofc474 the bigger the pump the better, but you have guys getting great results with the HF, I have the Robinair 8cfm also and it goes toe to toe with the HF. It comes down to heat and pressure, if you hit the heat just right you’ll get great results every time.

Also in the mean time im using a picture frame to create a seal. Not the best I will say.
ofc474 I don’t know if the MDF board is porous, if it is it won’t hold, I’ve had guys try it and they end up painting it or applying a sealer to the wood.
ofc474 picture frames work fine, and come in different sizes/ material at the Dollar Store.
How much cfm for the vaccum pump? 8 ?
eliyahu Duani 3.5 to 8cfm, whatever you can afford will work.
pretty cool
alamedacustomholsters.com/Heavy-Duty-High-Temp-Vacuum-Former-Silicone-Membrane-membrane.htm
Great video! Can you post your material list? Thanks.
Corian top, 5/8 braided hose, 5/8 barb x 1/2MIPS, 2.5 HF pumo, 80/20 frame -Ebay, Membrane from BlackSheep Tactical.
If you do more that one item how does that work with multiple pieces of kydex
If you are doing wallets you can use a Quad jig and use a bigger piece of material, but you have to work fast if you are trying to do a couple mags, etc.....the material will cool to fast and its start over time.
Alameda Holsters with just one hole in the bottom connected to the pump and you do multiple pieces of kydex on different items how does that work
ewewell you could do a mag and wallet together, but that’s about it, work space and cool down work against you.
Alameda Holsters understood, would I be better off if I got one with multiple holes or just the single hole?
ewewell the ones in the market now only have one hole, you can use a grid made up if smaller holes if you want, it just lays on top of the workspace.
what thickness is that silicone forming membrane and where to get it from? thanks
certified30 it's .032, I'd contact Blacksheep Tactical on FB, he would be the lowest price, and/or ThermaPress.net would be the second lowest in cost. Tell them I sent you.

Well, I'm going to finally give this a try Tony. As anything changed/ updated since this video that you can recommended? Are you still using this? I mainly want to use this to make dump trays from Plan B's mold.
ofc474 still in use, I haven’t changed anything. One of my subscribers Shooters made a larger version of it, looks awesome.
how did you make the base and what is the diameter of the hole in the base?
What is the material the orange color?
miguel candedo rodriguez rubber silicone membrane, you can contact Blacksheep tactical on Facebook, he has the best price. Or ThermaPress and HD industrial has it.
Alameda Holsters , thanks!

How much can you make me a a frame like that for?
Perils of the Wallet $65 for a 12”-12”, work area is 11”-11”
Alameda Holsters 12"x12" big enough for most split molds?
Perils of the Wallet yes, most are 8”/8”, with a light might be a little bigger, but the inside diameter 11”-11” is big enough.
Where can I get a frame like that
Best place is Ebay, the 80/20 store, its $12.00 for a 4' piece, plus $12.00 shipping, just cut it down to 1' sections, they also have the screws and square nuts at that store.
This Membrane 1.5mm ? 1mm?
彭耀輝 1/32”
Your girl not ask any questions when you snagged the tampon, or are you hoping she doesn’t notice you’ve been in her tampon box?
So, let me get this straight? It’s a membrane less that requires a membrane!, am I missing something
Shawn Jarman it’s both-
umm you must be blind... he had to use membrane because the kydex sheet was too small to be used with the border.
Hey man
Where do you get the red guns you have in this video?
DIY Holsters.
turned out good, but how is this membraneless? you used a membrane. lol
It can be used both ways, more waste membraneless, the new way of doing it is using 1/4 closed cell foam instead of a membrane, giving you top notch detail.
A tampon??? Do explain!
Alameda Holsters more waste with membraneless? You obviously are not doing it right if you have more waste
Why do you state " membraneless " when you in fact use one I call click bait
Also, where can I get the membrane and where can I get that frame?
Ebay has the 80/20 store, they have everything you need, I just bought a 4' piece and cut it to 12", 4- each.
Look at ThermaPress or HD design for pre-cut membrane.
Christopher Owensby exactly " membrane " but remember it's membraneless!
I think you used a friggin membrane
No Excuses you have the option, I choose not to waste my material, so I use a membrane. Thanks
Please rename your Video to "DIY Manbrainless former under $100.00 Part 2."
Thanks, we'll take it under advisement.......
