They’re inside the intermediate. Can’t get stuck. I’m sure they already hit TD and also wire lined. The casing crew is on the ground getting their shit together. I laugh that people comment on slip dies. I changed many a tong die in 10 years but maybe only once for the slips.
@@kennypeshlakai2416 While working for Nabors 621 in McAllen Ranch down in South Texas, we once laid down 17,000+ ft of pipe using rotary (independent rotary table) break out tong and letting slips ride for most of the process until we had no more weight on the string. We had started on the heavy wt pipe when relief got there. Although we were “breaking the rules”, Rig manager and Superintendent knew our crew was as safe as it can be using “good old tricks”. All those “tricks are long gone...the oil field is just not the same anymore.
Yep, that's one trick I've never seen before, BUT with a muddy rig floor and those spinning slips I could see a shin bone shattering irreparably if one of the blokes slipped and got caught by the spinning handles!!!
Kickass! I plan to finance a degree with my floorhand cash, as well. Portfolio management is the proverbial pie in the sky right now but I know it can be done! Onward, my dude.
That's awesome. Stick to it! I got a degree in mechanical engineering. after leaving the oilfield I ended up starting a hedge fund which I currently run. I am sitting for the CFA Level I in June.
I remember the days of laying down pipe with a cable hook and a bumper board at the end of the Cat Walk. Derrickman ran the baskets or racks while lead tong and motorman did the floor work. Not sure why the lead tong hand was having so much trouble. On that type of pipe where it has a grooved collar, the tongs need to sit lower, closer to the seam for a better bite. The top of the collar is slightly thicker on those, making the tongs harder to bite, even with new dies.
That hand laying down looks worn out as he'll. I can only guess they walked into laying down and this video was recorded at hour 11 lol. Thank God I'm on days off
That job was the best lesson in life a young kid could get. paid for my engineering degree and now I work as a portfolio manager of a hedge fund I co-founded that finances shale drilling projects.

Believe it or not I actually bought it in that condition from the original owner. It was An old guy who bought it brand new and barely rode it. I haven’t done anything to it.
You start looking for another job! hahahah If that did happen and you did not get run off then we would probably trip back in the hole and try and screw into the pipe. if that didn't work we would come out and install an overshot tool and use that to extract it.
When I worked o this rig it had an st80 then switched to a tm80. Motor man would stand by the driller and push buttons on a touch screen.....What a joke that thing was.

Yeah. We had a roughneck that was in his 50’s. Hell, I was roughnecking at 39. Better hit that iron or it’ll hit you, especially on rig move. Be in shape.

Aahhhh yes the struggles of Worm's corner. Cool video thanks for sharing. It brings it all back.
I love to see the “slips” ride. Driller really taking care if his hands. 👍👍!

@Mike Vega Just pull the slips lazy hand, stop complaining!

Tripping pipe? This is laying down pipe. Love it. It will make a 12 hour shift go by fast. Pretty cool driller the let the slips ride. Lol
I was about to say, they didn't grab the slips almost at all 🤣🤣🤣
I was going to comment on the letting the slips ride and laying down pipe. Not tripping. You beat me to it lol. I loved the oil field
Not just trippin,' but laying down. Takes longer, makin' it happen though!

slip riding the pipe is very bad idea...
Why? Of course, not in an open well but if you are already in casing(intermediate string) let em ride.
Yes I agree, with drill mud and copper-coat all over the floor...one slip and you're a cripple for life

first of all you all are laying pipe not tripping it
