- Here is another custom Hot Wheels mash up build. I scratch build some tank tracks, sculpt weld lines, solder a paper clip chassis, and completely dismember a Mustang Shelby GT500. A miniature built and painted for the post apocalyptic tabletop game: Gaslands!
Let me know what you think of the build!

It's fascinating to me that each of the crafters I follow here on YT have their own unique skillset and areas of expertise. I don't think I've seen anyone else that works with metal as easy as you make it look, and I enjoy your aesthetic take on these builds!
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words though I am definitely not the best at any one thing I try to acquire as many skills as I can. I'm looking forward to your next build!
We just found your channel, everything is amazing. This project was awesome, the mushrooms were a nice touch, but I was super impressed with your 3d printed skulls. Where did you come up with the stl files for those, if you don’t mind me asking?
This was really interesting to watch!
Thank you! 😁👍
Awesome build . Love those tracks .
Thanks Chris!
Excellent job as always. Very useful mashup of two cars just lying around
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
Nice job as always Ben. Very creative use of some unusual materials.
Thank you! Cheers!
you earned my respect just by drilling straight into a round surfase of the fender
Anyway, nise build!
Thanks! Diecast metal is very soft so I do things like that sometimes that I wouldn't try with a harder surface
Well now I have an idea of how to make the Peacekeeper thanks for sharing it was a very informational video
Of course! Happy crafting 😁👍
Great build mate, very clever with the tracks 👍
Thanks Danny! I'll figure out how to use the material at some point haha
Nice take!
Thank you! The 2 car mashups always take a fun direction of their own
Hey, Ben! Nice surprise to get the notification for the latest BPCC build. I had a few preview hints of what to expect but the final result was epic! Of course the treads were the highlight with the soldering jig and the careful fitting. Your imagination is way out there in how you used both cars. Glad you tweaked the first run yellow colour! Looks great in the end with the final weathering touches. You've got to name these things (I'm coming up blank...give me time!). Multiple thumbs up from Switzerland - Andrew 🍁👍👍👍
Thanks Andrew! I rarely have names or stories for my builds haha. I'm not sure how my brain jumps straight to details while bypassing narrative. That yellow had to go. Paint choice is always a gamble for me but like I said in the video this build has definitely grown on me! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I think you should call them wasteland speed tanks
Totally different there Ben but really cool at the same time I'm enjoying how you can do that with paper clips and stuff like that keep up the good work and God bless
I was just thinking today about using corrugated cardboard for tracks. The plastic corrugating is an amazing idea! I will be using this idea for sure brother!
Let me know how it turns out!
I found a 20” x 30” sheet of black at Michael’s craft store today. Using their app and a 20% coupon that you can use from the app… I saved money on that I think the sheet was $4.99, I’m not going to do the math but 20% off of that was I thought fairly reasonable because you can get a lot of tank tracks out of something 20“ x 30“ :-)
Fantastic build ben I love how it turned out brother great job
Thank you! The colors threw me off a bit at first but I like where it ended up 👍
INCREDIBLE!
Thank you!
@@BPCustomCreations You've inspired me to plan a similar build with the treads. Thanks for these incredible videos.
love the track idea.............. i find difficult plastic dose better for a light sanding prior painting and / or a coat of pva or watered down sealant ,., but i do have plastic tank bit box
Thanks! Yeah I need to revisit this material. It has the potential to be really easy if the gluing and painting issues can be overcome
Awesome Ben! I really like this whole idea man, super mean looking gasland!!👊👍
Thanks Sheriff 👍 things got out of hand as usual 😂
@@BPCustomCreations But it's blue so... No rules!!😂👊
this is awesome my friend
Thank you!!
this is one awesome Tank-Corvette! Btw. if you have problems with PP or PE plastics look out for a special primer like _LOCTITE SF 770._ This should do better with glueing but also with painting it.
Thank you! I'll have to check out that product. It looks like a primer for adhesives.
@@BPCustomCreations yes exactly. It's a primer that is necessary for plastics with low surface energy (plastics with this awkward waxy feeling to it). When the primer is dry, the surface should be susceptible for glues, primer for paints and paints
Man this is awesome 🔥🔥👍👊
Thanks Dane!
Very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks buddy 😎👍
@@BPCustomCreations 👍
mind blown and speechless again. you have 1 amazing creative mind. the use of the board for the treads was genius. there's gotta be a way to adhere paint to it. I work for the city of Vancouver and we have a sign shop dept. I'll try remember to ask about it
Thanks Neil! I am sure they have a more sophisticated process of printing on signs but I'd love to hear the response!
@@BPCustomCreations pretty sure they put stickers on them but never know there may be an old timer in there still from back in the day lol
Amazing build, I always love these builds were people combine several vehicles to build one really unique one. I've wanted to do this myself, but always find myself too worried I'd make a mess of it and end up ruining the donor vehicles beyond salvaging. Also nice tick with the cotton bud, I'll have to try and remember to have few on stand by next time I'm using superglue.
Thanks John! Have a go at combining vehicles, they are only a couple bucks in the end. Even if you end up destroying them you'll learn how NOT to do it.
@@BPCustomCreations I already attempted it a couple of times I just haven't released the videos yet as I've been too sick to record the voice over.
@@RoadWarrior_John oh man, sorry to hear that!
@@BPCustomCreations Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to get back to recording soon.
I'm finally catching up on some videos as I can and I was really looking forward to this one. You know I really liked how this turned out! There is so much creativity in your build process that every video yields some treasures that I hope to try myself someday. Thank GOD you went away from the original yellow for the sides (although as I'm typing this, I'm starting to wonder if you had added black stripes, like caution tape or signage, what it would have looked like -- It could have been interesting...or horrific...but I'm pretty sure I prefer what you did lol). Fun build and video!
Thanks Jim! I forgot to mention it in the voiceover but caution stripes were on my mind too but I'm glad I brought it down to beige-ish. I always appreciate the feedback👍
Great work. I really like the use of the plastic to make the tire.
Thank you!
Wow, outstanding job on those tracks
Thank you! I want to revisit this with black plastic in the future
Love the vids
Thanks 😎👍
Great video, build, and commentary.
Thanks!!
Nicely done man, very cool build and loved the intro. It's good to know nail polish remover works for paint stripping and the tracks turned out awesome. I'll have to find myself some of that sign plastic. 😎👍
Forgot to mention, if you dip your sculpting tools in water it should stop the putty from sticking to them.
Thanks! It's specifically the acetone component I think that strips the paint. It's good for taking off tampos with a cotton swab since it's so mild.
I was using water and alcohol and neither did that great of a job at keeping the tools unstuck
What a great build especially using that Corvette and sadly for the mustang added parts to your build and thanks for sharing it with us brother and have a great weekend 👍👊😎
Thanks Tony! It came out pretty cool and I see planning is sometimes good haha. I'll probably still not plan many things moving forward. You have a great weekend too 😁👍
Damn that’s genius
Thanks! 😁👍
Man I'm given this track thing a try
Nice! Good luck with the gluing and painting!
Man oh man, you guys lots of things going on inside that creative mind! Love to see you bringing those things to life! Awesome video as always!
This was a crazy one haha. Something to revisit in the future maybe.
Really freakin' amazing build dude. Putting all of this together was a stroke of genius. Have you tried mod podge to seal the paint on the treads? Might keep it from flaking off.
Not yet! I need to try a few other things as well. I'll definitely test more before using it again.
Came out awesome. Would have never had guessed how much went into it had I not watched it through. Did you try the ABS plastic weld on the treads? I assume its just styrene. Also, I bet they make that same sign material in black, then you wouldn't have to worry about it. Brilliant idea though! Love the final result.
Thank you! I tried some plastic glue but no dice. I definitely think black signboard would help!
I really like the way you made the propulsion. I recently made a similar Mad Max style vehicle in a 1/28 size and I was also thinking about replacing the wheels for a long time.
Thank you! Wow 1/28 would be so intimidating for me to try haha. I have gotten too comfortable with 1/64.
@@BPCustomCreations I've seen a lot of Matchbox and Hot Wheels conversions and I'm going to try that one. I'm sure I'll like it, but I know it won't be easy.
we need a broken jewelers saw blades counter :)
😂 Absolutely!
love it
Thank you!
Builds are back on track I see
🤣 UA-cam does encourage us to tread the same path video after video
You could also try black corrugated plastic as the base color? Might help if the paint flakes off.
Very true 👍 I only had white around but I'll keep an eye out for that!
In the future when working with epoxy putties keep a little something wet nearby to moisten the tip of your tools it prevents them from sticking to the putty while working with them but make sure you keep your part dry also moist tip not drudged you don't want too much water
Yeah I was doing that but I think it was just too small and the moisture was getting all over it to the point of keeping it slick on top of the car too. I tried alcohol as well.
Putty is a great material but if you don't coat your tools with vasaline, water or other slippery oil, it sticks to anything except your project, have you tried sanding the plastic with superfine sand paper? that might work.
I can't remember if I did or not actually haha. There is so much video footage that never gets to the finished video. I think I'll be testing a bunch of tricks like this before using the material again!
Hey, Ben! Please do a complete scratch build of a off road stadium super truck that looks like it was turned into a post apocalyptic war vehicle all of it from scratch and in like 1/24 scale or same scale as your bus was that would be a really good video and challenge your scratch building skills lol nice build lile akways
1/24 is not really something that interests me but I am definitely planning to do more in the future. I say "planning" but I don't plan anything. I just make what I feel like making at the time so I never know what it will be until it's done 😂
Oh, the master of weathering!!!
I kneel in praise for you!
But the wheels that are not turning... it is cheating...
(BTW: in post Soviet Lithuania we had some tanks left behind abonded. For children - the best playground :) )
So hard to please... I guess I have to make a motorized one next time. haha
There were probably some kids over the moon for those tanks to play on.
Thanks for watching! I wonder what I'll make next haha
Make something one can view only through a hole.
@@taja9696 that is a really cool idea!
you should try plaing gass lands whith all these custom cars you make
That would be a good idea but I haven't really done it yet 😅
Why not try a paint from the auto shops that you spray on for the tracks. They have special paint for plastic bumpers.
That might work but I'm thinking there must be a better way to get paint to stick. I'll experiment a bit more before next time!
modpodge the tracks, save some time and mix some cheap paint with it.
I'll have to give that a try next time. I use mod podge mixed with black paint regularly for priming but I can't remember why I didn't try it on this one.
Do the treads work?
No, unfortunately. That would be pretty intense!
You should come back to this build or make another one with working treads
And tbh I really was hoping you would do the mustang one it looked sick
@@nathanjjs1335 I have so many ideas that pop into my head it's hard to pick one in the end 😅
I agree I build lego I made a cyberpunk kind of corvette but I dont have enough parts to do what I want to I also build this awsome mech and for how good it is it seems unbelievable for a 12 year old and yes the mech can hold a figure
try and get hold of some black corrugated plastic?
That would certainly help with the base color! I'll have to see what's available
i fixed GS rules by allowing vehicles to shoot every phase (even if not moving that phase), all the silly weapons and equipment stuff is out, in collisions you can not evade, everyone smashes back and everyone (including objects) has Pile Driver, as cars tend to move around after collisions. and you can not evade getting shot, you are too slow and too close to dodge bullets.
I'm not entirely sure what your comment is about but thank you for watching 👍
Never heard of You till today. Nice job on this. Gonna be checkin You out. Be sure to check me out 👍(BTW... gaslands is my specialty)
Thanks 👍 I haven't done Gaslands stuff in a long while but it's where I started out
@@BPCustomCreations Make more! 😺👍
Too many things in this video went far too smoothly. I am convinced that this is all some ploy and in reality none of the things fit together, the paint stuck on the cars, and the soldering iron burned you numerous times. It's the only logical answer.
😂 Sometimes it's like that but it always gets worked out in the end. And if it doesn't, I don't post a video about it 😂
just found you on fb. followed so can MSN msg you. it's Saturday here so will try msg you what I find out if anything next week
Sounds good!
