I hope they keep making this theme park bigger and eventually make inkopolis in real life
I hope one day Nintendo will make their own theme park. So much potential you know what I mean. ❤
Lol not in CA...maybe FL.
For Hollywood specifically, this is probably it for Super Nintendo World. Universal Studios Hollywood isn't very big to begin with, and expanding would mean encroaching on the actual functioning movie studio sets that are behind the park. Universal Studios Hollywood is a movie studio first, theme park second. Florida won't really have this problem with irs Super Nintendo World and Epic Universe.
Yes! Bring on Super Splatoon Land!!!
Unfortunately this location has no room to expand into. Your best hope is the Universal Orlando location in Florida.
This is the smaller one in California. It has less stuff and takes up less space because Universal Studios California really did not have room for it and shoved it into a small corner of the park. :(. The one in Japan is more spread out in a bigger space, contains 2 more rides, and will expand into a Donkey Kong land with a mine cart roller coaster. The Florida park that opens in 2025 will have the same as the Japan park. :)
It has 1 more ride. Also, there are rumors about a donkey Kong area in Hollywood replacing some older sound stages. Not confirmed tho.
The big thing that I didn't see talked about: this was a very controlled experience. No one there was standing lines for 4 hours to go on a ride next to a screaming child who just dropped their ice cream. The people element is missing.
Let's give it time, this is a slow time of year for theme parks
Zion did mention that multiple times though.
That's the issue with all amusement park youtubers right now. No one is talking about the Crowded experience.
@@AlexGalaxy14 which is my biggest concern. As much as I love the concepts, I also don't think I'll want to wait 2 hours to spin a Goomba for the approval to wait in a 4 hour line for Bowser Jr.
I was there a few days ago and can confirm everything has a long ass wait
I went this Tuesday and was blown away by the visuals, music, and overall atmosphere. The string of minigames that lead to a final boss is a really cool concept for a theme park attraction. The food was pretty decent too, I got the Luigi Burger which was just a chicken sandwich. The main complaint I had is how long the wait times were for every single activity. I didn’t even bother with the Mario Kart ride because the wait times hit an upwards of FOUR HOURS. Hopefully this is just because I was there opening week and the park does not stay that way.
Is the Luigi burger BY luigi or OF luigi
Just because of the nature of new theme park attractions, it’ll probably be that busy for the first year or two of being open.
@@bens5859 DO. NOT. ASK.
4 hours? Hot damn
The Luigi burger being a chicken sandwich is kinda clever cause Luigi can be a coward aka a chicken
(before facing his fears of course)
I know it probably costs billions, but Nintendo has enough content to make an entire theme park themselves. Imagine how huge Pokemon would be alone. They would be the only ones who could come close to Disney parks.
I have never regretted moving out of So Cal as much as I do now.
I heard it’s a sh*thole now, this is probably one of the few decent things they have atm 😅
what is so coal
@@samu-chan southern california
@@20000dino the opinions on So Cal from people who never actually LIVED there are irrelevant.
@@disconnectedsmile You sound pleasant.
For people concerned with crowds, my suggestion is to show up early. USH will likely let people into the park up to an hour before opening to reduce crowding outside the gate. Usually, you'll be stopped at another rope until opening (i.e. "rope drop"). However, they may let people go down to the lower lot where Super Nintendo World is. If you're among the first people in, I suggest doing all the interactive games (key challenges) first. The reason is, in the end, you're gonna have to wait for something and that may as well be the nicely themed and whimsical (INDOOR!!!) queue for Bowsers Challenge. So, do the key challenges and fight Bowser Jr. in that sweet opening 30 minutes or so when the crowds are light. If you can, get a reservation for Toadstool Cafe as well. By the time you finish, Bowser's Challenge line will likely be posted at over 2 hours (keep in mind that they like to overestimate as a trick to make you feel better about your time in line). However, 2 hours in the Bowser's Challenge line is going to be much better than 30 - 60 min for each key challenge line in the open sun. After your first ride on Bowser's Challenge, follow up with rides in the single-rider line that is really short and also gives you a unique view of Super Nintendo World.
I generally followed this plan during Annual Pass preview and was able to do everything I wanted to, including 4 rides on Bowser's Challenge. In fact, I was looking for things to do just to kill time before my Toadstool Cafe reservation.
All of that still sounds miserable and not worth it for what equates to 15-20% if an average American’s paycheck, for ONE person. Wanna bring a family? That’s one average American’s whole biweekly paycheck. Not good.
@@AntonyTheQ I mean, it's a luxury, not a right. Might as well complain about how expensive it is to take a family to see Hamilton on Broadway or something similar. FWIW, a day there represented about 3% of my semi-monthly paycheck.
Having seen a video of the crowds in the park on a school morning this week, Media Day looks so much calmer and funner...
yeah we went and got the early pass. Early pass is worth it but other than that I feel this is a one and done park. The theme is great. 20/10 but things to do is a 5/10 especially if there is a long wait.
I can’t wait to take my son here someday. It looks so charming and joyful. Thank you for telling us about your experience, Zion!
0:47 Zion: I’m also joined by the fantastic Alex Olney-
Alex: AND HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL
He said I hope you have a wonderful birthday
That last cat pun went over your head Zion. Let me shed some light on it for you.
I was born and raised in this area (SFV) and of COURSE they would make this after I left hahah. I will probably wait until crowds die down and/or they expand the area to be more equivalent with the Japan location. Or maybe when I visit family still living in the area we will go check it out... who knows! Glad you had fun!!
Hey Zion and Alex,
So just letting you know that Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has more reasonable prices with the power up bands costing ¥3,200 yen so about $26 USD (21 GBP)…far more affordable right.
Also the best option for the experience (if your willing to put in extra coin) is to buy the express passes that give access to Super Nintendo World and other attractions around USJ without dealing with those 1 hour + wait times.
The Universal Express Pass 7 (from ¥10,800) or the Universal Express Pass 4 (from ¥7,800).
I’ve lived in Japan for about 14 years and just went to USJ in September with my wife and 2 kids.
Incredible atmosphere and will be going again once that Donkey Kong Area opens up.
Next may, I'm going to Super Nintendo World in Osaka, Japan!
Zion!! I know exactly the wizard quesr you mentioned! Wisconsin dells. I did that once years ago! Haha that’s wild. I hope to get down to Nintendo world from up here in seattle someday.
I'm just wait for Florida. Its a 7hr drive and would only cost about $80 for me to get there and back home. Compare to California I gotta do the whole over price plane ride and than a taxi/uber. The cost to get there and get around gonna be the just as much to stay and play at Universal Hollywood. Plus Hollywood is super small. Orlando is getting every ride and event.
It’s not just a theme park. It’s an area within a theme park
I went to it Day one and to be honest … yes it gets packed but even so it isnt horrible… I loved it! And will be returning as much as i can … i love the true gaming aspect of the power up bands along with the universal nintendo app. Go Team Mario!!!
I live in San Diego, so LA is a day trip for me. I'm definitely heading up the road to see this as soon as I can carve out the time.
When I went, I did the tomato soup and a side of garlic knots. Highly recommended. I also got three streetpasses
thanks for the balanced review. looking forward to visiting when they add more rides
This park looks so small. Looks like that just by entering it and looking around you, you already see everything.
The band in Japan is ¥4000, if we were to put it in 1:1 ratio against USD or EUR though you be $/£ 40. But for those who pay attention to currency exchanges, at one point the YEN got so weak it almost doubled the value of the USD.
After currency exchange, I paid USD$25 for the strap and USD$25 for the Super Star popcorn bucket in Osaka. Both of these are going for USD$40 in LA. Considering all that, for anyone who can afford the trip to Japan and isn’t intimidated by the rules and language barrier. Go there instead. You WILL get a better value.
Depending on your currency, a one week trip to Japan will probably be cheaper than a one week trip to LA alone.
Looks pretty fun! I can't wait to check it out!
I think that was a poorly description of the MarioKart ride. It’s basically a Disney dark ride. It’s a slow ride with 3D and non 3D sections which makes it a little confusing cause you are trying to focus on the actual game. You basically follow the left and right commands to “drive” and one button to shoot shells to Bowser and the Koopalings. I would give it a 6/10. The real winner is the actual land. I went to the USJ in Osaka Japan. The power band was like $20 and it’s the main attraction of the land. Without it the land is just a huge scenery to takes pictures and nothing else. The land is beautiful and super fun. I spent the whole time running around the land and playing the mini games and collecting coins and stickers on the phone app. Can’t wait till the add the DK ride and more add ins to the land.
There are Garlic Knots on the menu, not true that they don’t serve bread. I ate the garlic knots yesterday so I’m not just saying this from an internet search
Planning a trip to Chessington this summer for my birthday 34:38 34:41
That "And how does that make you feel" sounded a bit aggressive Alex 🤣🤣
Ed screamed at Jane 27:37 😊
me and my friends talk about you guys all the time! keep up the good work
well universal studios is not really about rides. it has rides but, its an exhibition of media IP that are always rotating in and out. usually with 1 or 2 premium ride type experiences per exhibit.
How to know if someone doesn’t visit theme parks often or if ever-
“ I was exploring the park. There’s other parks too like Simpsons and Jurassic world” 😂 they are called lands. But amazing video! Thanks for uploading.
lol your guys puns at the end =)

I haven't been there yet but I can tell you yesssss. So excited to go...I'm in nor cal so the trip isn't too bad...just gotta wait for crowds to die down...I imagine it'll be Even more Nuts after next month, after the movie is released
It’s pretty cool!
I've never wanted to go to Disney. But ever since Nintendo World opened in Japan I've been saving my money. THIS speaks to me. I've been a hardcore Nintendo fanboy since the 80s
Disney been 3 times no kids its incredible
I love that the caution signs are Banana peels. What a good touch 👍
i have already went. the one difference and this isn't a universal thing and more of a "press previledge" thing, but the crowds for the common folk is much heavier, making doing anything such a massive headache. be prepared for that. the land is small in area, so if you are slightly claustrophobic, it will be an issue.
an actual go kart course would have been more fun
Bowser jr. Game sounds like Nick arcade TV show from early 90s!!
"Now you're playing with power" :)
I disagree with Alex that the power bands should be included in the part ticket price, because the park ticket is for the WHOLE place, so some people might not even go to the Nintendo portion of the park. I do agree that $40 is ridiculous. Should be like $10 max.
10 is crazy low like the power up bands can also be used as amiboos.
Ed said why did use Chessington as a example of a good restaurant 14:17
Would be cool if they add dreamland/hyrule
There are rumors of a Zelda land coming to Florida
The Doug Bowser story is hilarious.
Zion goes and shouts out WIZARD QUEST?! That place was my jam!
I think Alex’s phobia is from watching the Itchy and Scratchy Land episode a teensy too much as a child. Zzzzap!
Zion rocking that G-shock square 😎 where's the smb themed one??
I'll go when the Donkey Kong Country section opens up, that's going to be a dream come true for lifelong DK fans.
Nice. Is it worth it?
I'll wait for it to come to Florida or elsewhere.

This is pikmin at 2:35 grabbing a coin so not all mario ip
Oh wow we reviewing theme parks now? 😯😆
I live about an hour from it but for me personally I'll wait I'm sure the lines are hell right now like when Jurassic world opened up
Alex had a seizure at Chessington with Jane
Is Orlando’s still coming? Also, what’s up with the Zelda stuff?
It’s coming in a few years
It’s currently getting built along with the rest of the new park
orlando will open in 2025 and will open with the yoshi ride and donkey kong coaster too
My parents moved to the south of Chessington
There’s only 2 Nintendo Rides but in the other areas, there are rides in each of them too
In my opinion, it’s only worth going to SNW *if* you are a Southern California resident. I would rather wait for the one in Florida to open in 2025.
Alex's confusion really sells the park a bit short.
Everyone is singing happy birthday to Jane
I work at snw so seems pretty worth it to me, they love me so much they pay me to be there 😂
Maybe in the future the power band will be part of the deluxe tier of Nintendo switch online
They use Xbox Kinnect at Harry Potter World in the UK so perhaps they do at Universal as well!
Fire in the city broke out in the building
Hello jimmy happy birthday
Going to Japan this summer and i can't justify spending time in a crowded place with just slow rides with augmented reality lenses. Kinda wish they had made something more adult oriented besides what is in the park right now. I guess it is fine if you have kids
Jane is singing happy birthday to the man in a suit that he wore during the pandemic
I've been only in the Japan one but as I can see it is quite similar. So: Is It Worth The Trip? Yes, at least for me. I would love to return, BUT I don't think I will make the queue for the Mario Kart attraction. We waited 70 minutes for a weird experience that was kinda too arcade-ish???. I have to say that we understood what the game was all about, no problems at all in that regard. But still I would rather just enjoy the challenges of Bowser Jr. and the scenery than spending more than an hour for an okeyish ride.
Im going i sept
The funny thing is they changed the name of the Nintendo World store to avoid confusion. Now it’s Nintendo NY.
Great video !!!!
This only just occurred to me... If the wristbands also function as amiibo at home... then does that mean you can just bring a Mario amiibo from home and use that as your wristband scanner in the park? That would certainly be a nifty way to avoid the $40 price tag for a single wristband! I honestly didn't even know you had to pay for them separately until watching this video. I thought it was like the stamp system in Disney where they just stamp your hand before letting you in! Imagine if you had to pay for a ticket to get into DisneyLand, and then having to pay individual fees for every single ride within the park! The idea of having to pay for the wristband is incredibly silly to me. Does it at least work forever, once you purchase it? Or do you HAVE to buy a new one every time you re-visit the park in the future? This park is a dream come true for me, so I'll definitely be going there a million times in the future. But I certainly hope that Nintendo and Universal listen to the feedback of things that can be improved upon.
Having just gone to Disneyland, they do similar things. There’s a band you can get to interact with more things in the Star Wars area, and you can pay extra to use the genie system to book lightning lanes for some of the big rides. Then there’s an additional fee to get in the lighting lane for Rise of the Resistance, and yet another additional fee to get in the lighting lane for the new Mickey and Minnie ride. I had a great day, and since it was just me and my husband, we paid all the extra fees so we could do as much as possible that day. Oh, and there was an extra ticket to stay in the park after 8 PM. I tried to go into the Starbucks after the evening event began, and because I didn’t have that ticket, I couldn’t even go in. I was walking out of the park, and I think it was about 8:05 at that point.
The PowerUp band will work indefinitely. Although, if you have kids, let them know they don't need to hit blocks with the band. I saw several kids ramming the band into blocks as hard as they could, lol.
The PowerUp band will gamify you experience in the park. You'll get stamps for things like never hitting team mates in Bowser's Challenge, finding all the 8-bit characters in the land, etc. There's currently 128 stamps (i.e. achievements) with a few that are repeatable. I also hear they added some personalization to the character meet and greets, so they'll refer to your activities when you take your picture with them. Additionally, in Bowser's Challenge you see the Mii outfits that you can get when you use your PowerUp band in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (I'm not sure if these are exclusive suits or the same ones you get with the corresponding Amiibo).
Sadly amiibo do not work as power bands. You need to buy the wristband

I think you missed the Toadstool Garlic Knots
I feel sorry for the clean up crew
Could you imagine if journalists were allowed to report the story of the coronavirus pandemic to the international community

I'm not scared of the people in costumes, I'm just scared that they can now blink. I think a line should be drown between them and reality and blinking is too realistic
Security in theme parks do not have guns.
hi guys
So the Power Up Band is purely supplementary. You don't really need it unless you care about your high score. They do a similar thing with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with wands, where you can purchase a wand and interact with certain animatronics. The bands do the same thing where you interact with the minigames and collect coins in the Super Nintendo Land portion of Universal and the Mario Kart Ride. It's a cute (overpriced) souvenir that also functions as an Amiibo for your switch.
you CANNOT do the bowser jr thing without getting the keys. the keys are stored in your powerband. i am also fairly certain you can't do the interactive things as well as the band is needed to "start" the game. so it is paywalled somewhat and necessary to experience the land. if anything, get one and share with your group.
@Edward Santos thats the best way to go about it.
@@icanmakerice You don't need the band to play the mini games. You only need it to play the bowser jr thing.
You don’t actually needed to enjoy the park. It does obviously unlock access to a Bowsers Jr mini-game but other than that, you are getting the same experience nonetheless.
@@mr.jellyfish5544 This is so true. I don't know for some reason $40 seems too expensive for me. There's no physical reward for playing all the games, and the bands don't look aesthetically appealing as say the wands.
So two things, Bowser Jr. is a 12 person experience and not 8. And there is bread on Toadstool's menu that you could've got with your soup, cheesy garlic knots.
Hello I’m Jumpscare from Amazon
You don’t remember me from the first time I met Jane
Just what I feared. Over-priced and mostly full of cute little things meant for kids. Barely any rides.
Safe skip until they add more stuff. And maybe even then, not even. That price is outrageous.
Jane how are you feeling today
What a meowvelous video
They need to make Animal Crossing world. It would be a hit 4 sure
I love Mario, I have my whole life. I love universal studios, it's always been one of my favorites besides Cedar Point. I still play Mario games at age 39, I even love the new super Mario brothers series that everyone seems to hate now. That being said, this looks so incredibly lame. There's so much you could do with Mario or just nintendo in general, initious and this just looks so sad. It has since the 1st images released. I know it's for kids, but just like kids movies, If they're actually good, they're more successful because they have a much wider reach. It seems like the people that made this land had never been to any universal studios in the world, they just don't get what they're supposed to be doing.
Mario Kart’s a ride in an amusement park. Jump on, put on the goggles, and have fun. Don’t overthink it man!
PLEASE LET THERE BE DONKEY KONG STUFF THERE SOME TIME!!!!!
there’s a donkey kong coaster and land coming to japan and orlando
I know it’s a small thing, but could you guys have please called it a power up band. You literally got invited to a press tour and got the name wrong. Such an easy fix and you are literally promoting the park.
I think if this came out in the 80's-90's this would have been a huge success. I feel like now a days, the Mario craze isnt as big with kids.
There’s a Nintendo land in America now?
Grand Opening was like a week ago. The Florida version will be in 2025.
