  • In this video we do a Line 6 Variax Demo and Review. The Variax by Line 6 is an incredibly versatile guitar that essentially lets you bring an entire room full of guitars to a gig by carrying just the one Variax.
    This James Tyler Variax is one of several versions and we will look at Variax sound demo and a Variax review so you know what kind of quality you will be getting if you choose to purchase a James Tyler Variax.
    Gear used in video:

    The Music With Marky channel is dedicated to giving guitar students the guitar lessons they need to make good music. Each guitar lesson teaches guitar players how to play guitar in the most musical way possible. Shred guitar and guitar tricks are important, but great music is what makes all the guitar practice worth it!

    I play musical shows and this guitar is a godsend. I only need one guitar where I once used 3. Tunings are very useful too.

      I play for a living. I use the line 6 Jtv-69 variax.
      I have two. And I use it for my Helix.
      But now both guitars are both very used and starting break down. So I wanted to buy a new one. But I can’t for the love of god find any.
      I guess they don’t produce them anymore. So I’m a bit in a pickle. I can only pray they will start making them again.

    Would love to know how the Variax could work as a slide guitar.

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 роки тому

      In this regard going to be like any other guitar you would pick up and do that with. It's got the emulations for the sound but you're still dealing with lower action and frets that you could buzz against. So you would just have to play it carefully to make use of the sound that lines up with slide guitar.

    I play in a band which do a number of drop D songs and Acoustic songs, Drop D I don't mind changing guitar for, but getting a decent acoustic sound isn't working with my Helix Floor. Considering a second-hand Variax for acoustic duties. A question if I may, how does the acoustic models hold up at gig volume? I'm running into a Powerstage 200 driving 2 4x12 marshalls.
    Thanks.

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  Рік тому +2

      So the one thing I found really nice about it for acoustic models is that I don't have to worry about getting that feedback when playing in a loud environment. And, because it is a modeled sound and not actually acoustically generated, you can really crank the volume on it.

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  Рік тому +2

      I should add that you have to be careful how you EQ it in those situations because acoustic sounds can get very jangly and almost painful to listen to for people on the other side of the PA if you're not careful about the high mids.

      @@MusicWithMarky thanks for your reply. I’ve done some more tweaking on the helix with a Lindo semi acoustic. It’s getting there but the Variax looks really interesting to me. Just taking one guitar to practice would be nice some days.

      The Variax can be programed to change the presets, tuning and snap shots and vice-versa when used in conjunction with Helix lt or Helix thru Line 6 connection.

      I can't think of anything in that price range. I'm also not entirely sure what's available in India. The only suggestions I have made there were from Amazon, and the prices for anything any good even for a beginner are still quite a bit more than that. :(

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 роки тому

      That could work too, however it's a bit pricey for someone new. I think also that a big part of picking a guitar you like is how it feels in your hands and this is only for sound emulation, of course.
