Oh I agree 100%! He is an excellent teacher. He explains things in ways that we can understand and shows us the science behind the techniques. I am so glad I found his channel. I am a concealed carry Handgun novice. This is exactly what I need!
Your the first trainer that has defined the difference between muzzle flip and recoil. I already knew the difference but it's nice to hear a trainer define that difference for students and the general public.
Makes so much sense and he's the only instructor that talks about body size, caliber, and how it effects your lean. Most guys just do a one size fits all approach.
Thanks Miles for another quality video, really appreciate your comments on the “C” clamp technique of gripping the pistol that’s not conveyed well at all in many instructional videos and is key to positive grip control. It took me years to figure that out because so many instructors didn’t cover it in sufficient detail.
Hello sir. I just want to stop by to say how appreciative me and surely a lot of people are for your lessons. Thanks to your other video about how to grip and stance I was confident enough to go to the range and practice for the very first time. Using your techniques I was able to score a decent group using my dad's Canik tp9sfx at 15 yards. The person next to my station refused to believe this was my first time ever shooting a gun. Thank you and please never stop teaching!
So Glad I found your channel Mr. Tactical Hyve. I’m an older women (68), ex-Army, still would like to know related to older shooters. Thanks and keep up the great work
I'm not a GM shooter by any means but I believe this is one of the best videos I have seen on this subject. Very well done. I liked the differentiation between recoil and muzzle flip. I also liked the way you threw in some caveats on your last tip about changing recoil springs. Excellent job.
One point of focus that really stood out to me was - gripping not necessarily with finger tips, but gripping in a way that puts pressure directly rearward. I have heard many times that you aren't gripping the gun "like a monkey grips a banana", but this explanation shed new light on how and why. Can't wait to put this in action on my next range trip 🤘
Damn best teacher on teaching the simple basics. Most UA-cam channels go super try hard tactical on this subject. Need more people like you to teach the basics in a simpler way
You are a remarkably strong instructor and youtuber. Your videos and content are so thoughtful and useful, and your guides on your site are unreal as well. Thank you good sir, patriot.
Great info!! And (for me) more importantly, you have Fantastic muzzle awareness!! Thank you for demonstrating that, (and that wasn’t even a “today’s topic” of discussion/class training). 😎
Absolutely, was scrolling through the comments just to see if anybody mentioned it. Lots of actions in the video and didn't notice a moment of muzzle pointing towards the camera! 👏👏👏👏
I like this guy. I'm a newbie and his explanations are clear, presentation keeps you hooked and taking notes. Now I guess it is just up to me to practice. Thank you
Great video. For you physics-types, when your grip is high up, you reduce torque (twisting motion which is the muzzle flip) because the lever arm length is reduced. The shorter the lever arm, the less torque force is produced.
Thank you, I am 72, recently become interested in conceal carry. Been a gun owner, pistol and rifle since about 11 years old but never had any training. You explain the control of the hand gun extremely well and I have had some problems getting back on target and also being on target. I watch all of your videos.
Thanks. I got my first handgun yesterday and today at the range I was having a bunch of malfunctions due to my grip. I will take what you shared into consideration when I go shooting next. I like that you talked about the pressure being in the back of the hands not the fingers
Excellent video, I learned so much in the 18 minutes I spent watching this video; I can’t wait to take this knowledge back to the range when it reopens
First time seeing this.. Will definitely take these tips into consideration to help me. One thing I noticed, the v3ry conscious awareness that you took to not muzzle the camera. Purposefully swinging the muzzle around, etc, to not point it towards the camera. I'm going to send this to my son to practice on his airsoft at home. He's 15 now and shoots with me and the other adult shooters in his life. Thanks much, Tom.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and tips. I have learn more and I am able to refresh the things that I already know. Again thank you. God bless stay safe and have a wonderful day
Thanks so much. I watched this video when you released to learn proper grip and stance to shoot it and found myself coming back to it after getting my new pistol. When you mentioned where you want pressure i realized that with the small backstraps installed It felt natural for me to load to the left side of the backstraps and I was throwing shots to the right. Installed the medium one and it’s more natural for me distribute pressure from the heel directly into the center of my backstrap and I have more control of my shots.
Fourth tip I was taught to have my left palm covering as much of the pistol as I can. I was taught keep my left supporting hand as far forward on the gun to control recoil.
What a beautiful handgun that you are showing in this video. What is this brand of this gun? Thanks for this video. I'm a 54yof looking for videos on how to shoot my S&W Shield that is very snappy, wants to jump out of my hand. Thanks for this helpful video!
My fingers were pulling my grip apart. Pressure in the back 👍 and I don’t even really need that much. Once I eased up on tightness and simple kept palms together, I had almost no muzzle flip, I was surprised. Thank you
This guys channel popped up when I fell asleep watching UA-cam, and I somehow subscribed… no joke I think I “sleep-subscribed” to this man and definitely don’t regret it. Great videos!!!!!
Beautiful video, incredible the simplicity with which this guy explains. It would be perfect to do one on how to read the target in relation to the mistakes made with the grip when firing a double tap .
I’ve been doing ok at managing some what but I’ve never been satisfied so I always look for more techniques and watching this showed me a lot I was doing wrong and some I was doing right! I can’t wait to put this to the test with my New CZ
In tip 3 - Are the reasons my points of impact track downward during a rapid fire string: A) muzzle dip; B) breaking follow up shots too late; C) combination of A & B; D) other?
I would guess your issue is recoil anticipation. Miles has a great video on this. Miles will help you diagnose and correct it if recoil anticipation is what you’re suffering from. I honestly hope this info helps you! Good luck, @brianshuler6951
Very informative and extremely helpful. I'm a lefty, I have found that when I slightly rotate my right elbow inward, it helps me control recoil a little better
damn that explained so much and it made so much sense… what a great video. what gun and holster did you use for this video and also i would like to know if you could recommend the top 5 best 9mm ammo for an HK VP9L?? subbed!!! ur awesome bro thank you
Very good advice ! But I got a very small hand and I need a big bore for prospecting So I bought a 44 DE and I reload to max, and yes I had troubles with it at the start, It didn't take me long to figure out a way to hold this gun with small hands Right hand as you said, But the left hand no Place the left thumb behind the beaver tail over the wrist, cover the right hand fingers with the left hand, The trick is to twist with the right hand forward and the left hand twist backwards What a difference (You cannot use this on any other type of gun) And another little trick that some people complain about is lock up or is it a jam as they call it, To prevent that I shorten my amo by 15 thou, and have not noticed any lock up or jam as they call it. Shells are shorter and they slide much better. but I use 300 & 310 hard cast copper or brass coated. I also reload to max using 4227 - 22 grains and 300 and heavier lead. I believe that is powerful enough to bring down a big grizzly, You should find it throws the shell back much further than that american eagle 240 grain I would like you to try it sometime on a DE and left me know how it works for you. I am not a fast shooter but I shoot to kill for animal defense. If you try this please let me know what your thoughts are, extremely small hands I have, and the only way I can use this gun. but it works.
Great tips. Question .... wouldn't muzzle flip be somewhat related to the balance of the recoil spring strength vs the energy of the velocity of the fired bullet compressing the spring while driving the slide back at a certain speed? The recoil spring strength is resisting the recoil of bullet velocity. Different spring strength to match different ammo recoil. Appreciate your comments.
I have that dip problem, i'm told its because I'm anticipating the shot and inadvertantly trying to correct the muzzle flip. I'm going to try these tips. I have the same problem with revolvers.
I recently started with a 92x. It's the compact m9 or 92fs and it kicks. This video definitely helped correct my hand placement but I still struggle with double taps. Is it me or is the compact 92x just hard to shoot?
All the knowledge of the shortie vids, but this one is 18 minutes worth. Well done Myles.
Glad you like it!
Oh I agree 100%! He is an excellent teacher. He explains things in ways that we can understand and shows us the science behind the techniques. I am so glad I found his channel. I am a concealed carry Handgun novice. This is exactly what I need!
Great video! I’m a 5’2” petite female and this video has helped me shoot more efficiently with my .50 AE Desert Eagle.
Holy Gezz sister! Way to go!
I'm a 5,5 not so stocky man and I struggle with that. Good on you girl fuck it up
Your the first trainer that has defined the difference between muzzle flip and recoil. I already knew the difference but it's nice to hear a trainer define that difference for students and the general public.
You bet.
Makes so much sense and he's the only instructor that talks about body size, caliber, and how it effects your lean. Most guys just do a one size fits all approach.
I don’t know about you, but this is the best explanation I have ever heard on recoil and muzzle flip! Thank you Myles! 😀
One of the best online instructors. Excellent tips that work very well when you apply them. Has drastically improved my shooting.
Thanks Miles for another quality video, really appreciate your comments on the “C” clamp technique of gripping the pistol that’s not conveyed well at all in many instructional videos and is key to positive grip control. Thanks for the comment!
He excellently explained the 4 topics understandably to the core of the viewer, a brilliant instructor!

Glad you think so!
Lol. 4:52 he said beaver and tang.
On a serious note you guys are awesome
haha...thanks!
You are a remarkably strong instructor and youtuber. Your videos and content are so thoughtful and useful, and your guides on your site are unreal as well. Thank you good sir, patriot.
Your teaching style sparks interest and makes me want to improve. Thank you for this and your other videos! Cheers.
Glad you like the video!
You were the first one of all the video's out that discuss recoil spring weight... my gunsmith let me in on that idea years ago.
Great info!!
And (for me) more importantly, you have Fantastic muzzle awareness!! Thank you for demonstrating that, (and that wasn’t even a “today’s topic” of discussion/class training). 😎
The muzzle awareness and trigger finger placement was impeccable I noticed it throughout the entire video.
Absolutely, was scrolling through the comments just to see if anybody mentioned it.
Lots of actions in the video and didn't notice a moment of muzzle pointing towards the camera! 👏👏👏👏
The most helpful guide I have watched. Analyzing where the pressure of my hand needs to be is exactly what I needed
Love the content! Great technical instruction that is thorough and professional, without adding the typical UA-cam noise.
Whenever you change a recoil spring one must be careful to match a coiled
firing pin spring. Especially,
in 1911 pistols. Good video!👍😊🇺🇸
Perfect demonstration with adequate clarity, I enjoy every class you give us, thank you very much!😊☃️🇺🇸☘️
I like this guy. I'm a newbie and his explanations are clear, presentation keeps you hooked and taking notes.
Now I guess it is just up to me to practice. Thank you
This was a great video! I like the way Myles is very specific regarding the biomechanics, and physics involved.
Great video Myles! 18 minutes of golden knowledge for all levels. Thank you for these awesome tips.
Glad it was helpful!

You guys are the best.... keep giving me reminders and tips and I will keep hitting the range and looking for classes that fit my down time
Our pleasure!
Makes sense now why some of these guys look so amazingly in control. Changing out the spring and other parts makes a HUGE difference.
This dude is a legit ninja. Best explanation of muzzle flip & recoil that I have ever heard.
Thanks. I got my first handgun yesterday and today at the range I was having a bunch of malfunctions due to my grip. I will take what you shared into consideration when I go shooting next. I like that you talked about the pressure being in the back of the hands not the fingers

Good breakdown and techniques

No need to ask me to like and subscribe your content speaks for itself. Thanks providing such clear and helpful advice.
Thanks buddy, I like the way you teach. Never had I been taught like that & I have learnt a lot from you 👏
Great rationale! I’m a newbie and your explanation helps me remember proper technique
Excellent video. I am a new shooter and will try these tips next time out with my 9mm. Thanks

I JUST CAUGHT YOUR VID ON RECOIL.VERY VERY INFORMATIVE CANT WAIT TO SEE MORE.
First time the explanation of pressure on the back of the grip has been fully explained. Thanks
You're welcome.
Just started to watch his videos and am really feel like I’m learning from him.
Fantastic. I learned more watching 3 of your videos, because you explain why it occurs, and how to prevent it. I don't see that very often. Great Job.
Fourth tip I was taught to have my left palm covering as much of the pistol as I can. I was taught keep my left supporting hand as far forward on the gun to control recoil.
Excellent video on managing gun recoil and flip

Beautiful video, incredible the simplicity with which this guy explains.
It would be perfect to do one on how to read the target in relation to the mistakes made with the grip when firing a double tap .
Thanks for the video. Shooting my 1911 really exposes my recoil management flaws.
Thank you Miles. Your the best instructor ever !
Best explanation i have seen yet !

Great Instruction, Myles.

Another Great Video! Very informative to individuals, like myself, who are trying to improve. Keep these videos coming.
Excelllent, very clear using low motion. Thank you.
You are welcome!
Very good and concise instructions and demonstrations. Thank you.
Myles puts out great content. Thanks!
Miles, certainly well done. Great teacher!
Very clear concise instructions. Well spoken basics of pistol handling.
Good job 🎯💥👀🗽☮️⚖️✌️
He conveys the subject very well!
Always an excellent video from you!! Have a Happy New Year!! Make the best coming New Year even better, TH!!
great tips and techniques myle. thank you
One of the best channels if not the best one
man giving jewels away in these vids! Thank you boss!
damn that explained so much and it made so much sense… what a great video. what gun and holster did you use for this video and also i would like to know if you could recommend the top 5 best 9mm ammo for an HK VP9L?? subbed!!! ur awesome bro thank you

So I bought a 44 DE and I reload to max,

Right hand as you said, But the left hand no
Place the left thumb behind the beaver tail over the wrist, cover the right hand fingers with the left hand,
The trick is to twist with the right hand forward and the left hand twist backwards
What a difference (You cannot use this on any other type of gun)
And another little trick that some people complain about is lock up or is it a jam as they call it, To prevent that I shorten my amo by 15 thou, and have not noticed any lock up or jam as they call it.

so accurate explanation... thanks for all
Awesome teacher and channel.
What strength exercises would you recommend, to increase grip force?
This is a great tool to use amzn.to/3GTrjVo along with grip trainers like these amzn.to/3mdUI54.
@@TacticalHyve Thank you!
Interesting content! Hadn't considered it. Time to get back to the range and make this 2nd nature. Thanks!!

Yes, absolutely. Recoil spring weight can affect muzzle flip.
nice tip, big help for me as a new shooter
Awesome vid. This is a weak point for me so now I have some homework to do. Thanks Sir.
Thanks Miles for the thorough explanation. Liked and subbed!
Thank you SIR, for the educational information I surely can learn from it. Thank you very much
GREAT information and education!
What is the holster that you are using?? I’ve never seen one like that before. Thank I’m advance
Learning more watching his videos, this was great to watch
Glad you're learning!
I have that dip problem, i'm told its because I'm anticipating the shot and inadvertantly trying to correct the muzzle flip. I'm going to try these tips. I have the same problem with revolvers.
Dip can be caused because of shot anticipation, which is different from the dip discussed in this video.
@@TacticalHyve we need another video from you :)
Wealth of good information to put into practice!
The way he made sure he didn’t flag the camera guy @12:50. Muzzle Discipline 🙏🏽
What IS that holster? It looks compatible with any setup yet super easy to draw and return your pistol.
Muzzle awareness on steroids so I totally trust his advice and lessons. Thanks!
Fantastic video. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for a excellent and learning video..
it is an excellent explanation, thank you TEAM from Tactical Hyve
Thanks!
Thank you for the great video. Can you also do videos to help left handed shooters? Especially when manipulating non-ambi pistols, thanks!
I recently started with a 92x. It's the compact m9 or 92fs and it kicks. This video definitely helped correct my hand placement but I still struggle with double taps. Is it me or is the compact 92x just hard to shoot?

Excellent info, good to know 👍
