What is bad about the Scarlet and Violet games is the thing that most of the game before getting the climbing ability all of your questions will be "How do i get anywhere?"
I had been trying to do the storylines in order of lowest to highest level (still mad about the fact that they didn't think to put level scaling tbh) but at one point I gave up and just decided to train up a bunch and go do the false dragon titan because I was going insane trying to get around without climbing lol
Fun fact Koraidon/Koraidon can swim without the swimming ability, only if you're very close to a wall. I think it happens because the game has all abilities by default and suppresses them. If you move ya "scramble out of the water." This is how I got to a mini-island before the 1'st story progression and promptly got stuck.
one time I used to think "fighting should have no effect against steel" because my thought process was "punching metal hurts like hell" but then I realized the existence of like half of all fighting pokemons' dex entries
@@cantdestroyher7245 you can’t poison metal. Then again, same with ghosts but lets just say the elements can hit ghost or ghost would have every immunity
personally my biggest gripe with Dunsparce not having an evolution was that it just *looked* like a baby to me. The lopsided body, the oversized head, the tiny wings. Well, its wings may still be small, but now that it has a proportionately sized body with a more defined shape, it finally looks like a fully grown creature, which is all I ever wanted. I love Dudunsparce, especially 3 segment.
You took 6 minutes to share your opinion on Scarlet and violet’s performance and how you went through the stages of grief, and I respect that. I also want to talk about the sunflora battle. I had 2 fire types, Fuecoco and Charcadet. I walked into this battle surprised because I didn’t know I would have to battle them. I then began to realize how much healing this flower was doing. I had to go through the ingrain, the fire spin and the leech seed AND the lag made it more annoying. When I realized I had to battle it again I was actually scared, knowing that it could be SO time consuming like last time.
Mikey talking about hail is like how his villain group origin story could go. Like one day he noticed that it hasn’t been raining hail in a while, so he starts thinking that his phrase hail yeah couldn’t work anymore. After this event, this made him enraged, blaming it on rayquaza so he spends the rest of his life finding a way to use rayquaza so he could once say again, HAIL YEAH!
During the hail rant all I could imagine was Team Sky leader Mikey's quest being 'make it hail in Paldea' rather than expand the sky or rule the sky like normal and then giggling like a maniac
When I heard the "expand the sky" thing i thought of him destroying the earth so that most pieces are removed but enough land remains so sky creatures can eat and live
Hail comes from the sky. Nope, that's about it. There is no connection or even nonsensical illogical reasoning to relate the two because then you could and would be obligated to do the same thing for everything else. I never thought I'd say this but this actually makes "Expanding the Sky" a more reasonable and logical and possible goal than "Make it Hail in Paldea" Because while I'm at it I'll give Castform an Evolution. A pre evolution. A tiny little Pokémon, the world's smallest pokemon called . No that's it, it seriously called . It's just a tiny little dot but insanely different and a totally unique take on Pokémon. You see it everywhere, it's secretly always been a thing in every generation, Red even had THREE OF THEM. 😂 Okay, I'll stop. But for reals, that honestly sounds like the perfect next comic strip with that one thirsty girl who got assigned to Galar even returning but this time with a new recruit who's an incredibly gay thirsty guy who ironically gets into competition with the girl from before. And then they RIVALS of TEAM SKY. Then Squirtle probably makes a thirst related water joke and Bulbasaur shows his disapproval by using Whirlwind like in the Anime. 😅

Not gonna lie that hail moment REALLY got me fired up. I felt like I was hearing like a 6 star game of the century. Almost like I was starting an epic journey.
Since they removed hail from the games, perhaps you could start a new catchphrase. Something that came to mind instantly was "snow no", kinda the opposite of hail yeah but still kinda works.
Dark should not be super effective against grass because dark is meant to be the “evil” type, not the “not light outside” type Also it’s extremely funny that tinkaton’s shiny is that it’s hammer is the same color as corviknight’s shiny. Meaning a shiny tinkaton is just a tinkaton who killed a shiny corviknight
Actually, Shiny Corvinight is silver colored instead of the blue. Shiny Tinkatons hammer is rust colored. It is more likely that hammer has seen a lot of use and Tinkaton is too lazy to clean it.
“Everyone needs socks with olive oil in them.” “No They don’t.” “It extra Virgin” “That’s for sure.” That made me genuinely appreciate the ads a whole lot more, you are super creative Mikey!
And yet despite that, he didn't make the obvious BUTT-er joke with the underwear w/butter in it. (I couldn't exactly understand what Grunty Boy said for the name of it, but I'm pretty sure it was not Butt-er.) But yeah, the virgin part was brilliant XD
I was originally disappointed by Dudunsparce, but I later got a shiny and named it Mr Wiggles, and I find it amazing that npc are like “mr wiggles? It’s gonna be so wea-“ *Mr. Wiggles proceeds to steamroll the enemy with serene grace headbutt and hyper drill*
On the topic of changing type matchups, i think it's weird that Ice only resists itself. Shouldn't it resist Water, since pouring water on cold ice would just add more ice? It should resist Grass as well, and maybe Bug too. It could resist Normal. That would make the classic Regis (Rock, Ice, Steel) all resist Normal and be weak to Fighting.
the funny thing about this gen's peekachu clone is that it's evolution is probably one of the most realistic evolutions in pokemon because its doing what it needs to to survive better and that happens to be the ability to stand up
Yeah, I read that the Pawmi line is based around the alpine marmot and they received something called the bottleneck effect(?), in which the species just don't look diverse compared to other animals. So I guess it explains why the Pawmi line looks plain? Although personally I would have wanted a design slightly better than just a marmot who stands up, gets saturated and desaturated, and has slicker hair. I still love them though.
Jesus Christ is the propitiation for the whole world's sins. They that believeth and are baptized (with the Holy Spirit) shall be saved; but they that believeth not shall be damned. Those led by the Holy Spirit do not abide in wickedness. *God is ONE manifesting himself as THREE;* the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Bless him! *For these three are one.* As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him. Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, and where I am doing it; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them, they lack understanding. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.
Do you raise the pets you love to bite and scratch other animals, or even people? This is what you do in Pokemon! It is wicked and God hates the souls of them who love violence! As you have Pokemon partners; instead of loving them and raising them without fighting, it is all they know, violence! Many say it's just a game but your heart enjoys it, fool yourself not. Seeing now what you were once blind to, repent of your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost! God dwells within his and gives them discernment (among many more gifts). Allowing his to discern that which is good and evil plainly. I too, played Pokemon (competitively, Pokemon Mystery Dungeons, Pokemon Go, and Pokemon Masters EX) before God took me away from it, I am no stranger to the series (I also watched the some of the anime seasons). Back when I thought it was fun and nothing bad could come from playing this game or watching the series. Let me tell you: the world and it's ways are not worth going to hell for. l have more happiness in holiness and righteousness than I *ever* had in wickedness. With a new heart, you'll despise wickedness and love that which trespasses not against God! Psalm 11:5 KJV 5 The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Acts 2:38 KJV 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Luke 5:32 KJV 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. John 14:6 KJV 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Mark 16:15-16 KJV 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. John 8:34 KJV 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 1 John 3:6 KJV 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 1 John 3:9-10 KJV 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Game Freak missed an opportunity to subvert our expectations in a hilarious way with Clavell and Clive. They totally should have made them twin brothers instead.
That’s what I wanted with Kikui and The Royal Master. I was hoping they would have them be different characters that are both there at celebration at the end of the game
I've been watching your videos for about 2 to 3 years now, I think (maybe longer) and I just want to say this: Your videos, mostly thanks to how you present the segment, are the only ones where I don't skip the sponsor portion. I love your content and I love how you incorporated Grunty Boy and gave him such a fun and consistent part of your content creation. I look forward to many more years of all this wonderful stuff. I just felt like sharing this with you, because I've had a bit of a crappy new year's eve and I want to rectify that by being as positive as possible this year.
When you started mentioning how us, the pokemon fans, weren’t happy about the glitches it reminded me how I had played a digital copy of Pokémon Scarlet and I started the game.. got to the cutscenes of talking to the mom and talking to Director Clavell for the first time.. but everyone just had gray skin- and it terrified me to death- thankfully, I just had to restart the game and it was gone-
I currently have just over 120 hours in violet, the only bugs i’ve seen were my pokemon falling through the surface, so i ended up fighting a drednaw from the bottom of a river, and my miradon disappeared for like 3 seconds once
Exactly, Dark type was originally Evil type in Japan, but it was changed in translation to give the crazy people that thought pokemon was satanic/demonic less reason to claim it was so. Dark has actual no inherant association with darkness, think of it more as "criminal" or "bad guy" type than literally darkness, more the bad things that happen under the cover of night. Be it robbery, murder, or other things frowned upon in most societies.
That's how I've known it as since I found out Night Slash's name in Japanese most accurately translates to "Crossroad Killing" and takes inspiration from the tradition of samurai testing the sharpness of a new blade on unsuspecting passersby in the middle of a trail bumblefrick nowhere a few years back. I unironically call it the Evil type more than I do Dark nowadays. Should also be obvious that it's to do with metaphorical darkness than literal given no Dark type move involves physical darkness.
I found the lag to be so jarring and annoying by early on, but I found after about an hour of gameplay I fully adjusted to the performance issues. Once you make it past that initial weird phase, it becomes among the best Pokémon games ever. The writing is fantastic and the new pokemon are for the most part. Fantastic.
I love Mikey's energy in videos lately. It really makes it seem like his break helped him re-center and re-energize about content creation. Important to see the tangible benefits of prioritizing mental health, particularly in a creative field where mental wellness can make or break your ability to do your job at all. Great video :)
Hit points is used for counting damage taken like in pokemon trading card game, and health points are for counting how much health is left like in the games.
You explaining playing ScaVi and going through the five stages of grief was a whole mood, you described everything I went through while playing perfectly. I was battling a Gastly ob the other day and the sand dunes in the bg literally turned into a blue grid, and I just sighed and went, "Yeah, seems about right..." @@OtisCluck ????? I just wanna know how you think this applies? Do you just blindfold yourself and copy/paste random comments? I think I'm more confused than offended, you doing okay my dude? 😂💀
in my opinion, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet reminded me of FNAF Security Breach, they both just needed more time. Scarlet and Violet tried to keep tradition, and FNAF Security Breach was pressured by the community to release. So the only difference comparing both game qualities, was that one was the devs fault, and the other was the community's fault.
It wasn't actually the community pressure that made Security Breach release early from what I heard. After so many delays to the release date, the marketing agency they were with just got fed up with how many times they had to delay, they pretty much gave them one last deadline and it has to release by then. Make the game playable and fix it any other bugs left after it's released
I agree with the great characters and story. All the gym leaders, star captains, even just side characters were amazing. I was like 'yeah, this star leader seems more boring I'll do them later' and then got to them and immediately realized my mistake. And the story, especially starfall street, was fantastic. The twists, while foreseeable, were pretty cool and the star captain flashbacks and motivations were great as well. And with that, hasta la vistar
I really appreciate how Mikey is constructively critical of Pokemon and the state it's in. The Pokemon fandom at times can be really obsessive over trying to shut criticism down, and it really borders on toxic positivity at times.
I always saw it as endlessly complaining, showing issues but not a way to solve them, and hating anything and everything. So essentially Toxic negativity
@@autismandgaming4532 Except that by and large the critics of this game _are_ giving the games plenty of kudos for the openness, story, Pokemon designs, and in general how the Pokemon feel like they have more personality. The criticism is largely focused on the intrusive glitches and performance issues, maybe a couple complaints about Nemona being creepy. And the solution being offered is always the same- the games should have spent more time in the oven. You just ignoring all the positives that many of the critics are bringing up is just proving my point about how people are trying to shut criticism down.
@@timmyreobed5043 Well, I see in the Pokémon community it's both. Every time a game is released (this dates back to gen 4) the community does have negative toxicity, then a few years later they love the games, hell, gen 5 whent from the worst rated to best. While toxic positivity is way way way rarer, at least that's what the GENERAL public sees.
@@autismandgaming4532 the way to solve them is simple. gamefreak needs to spend more time on their games and needs to hire more developers. it's the best solution tbh. as for hating everything and anything, many people who criticise the game have praised its story and open world nature, as well as the pokemon designs and the ability to ride your box legendary from the get-go. the issue is fans like you refuse to understand that, so you just believe that anyone who remotely criticises the games is promoting toxic negativity. stop being a dumbfuck for once and try to understand what people are saying
@@Big-Azumarill there's very little toxic negativity, aside from trolls fishing for reactions and angry responses. as for gen 5, the people who disliked it on launch were adults falling out of interest with the franchise while the people who like it now were kids when it came out and liked it then, but didn't express themselves on the internet until now. it's not some sort of cycle, it's just simple logic. as for people realising swsh aren't that bad, it's because SV hit a new low in terms of performance and graphics and bugs. toxic positivity, however, is very common in the pokemon community, and it's evident with fans such as yourself who refuse to accept criticism of the franchise.
As someone who's name is Hayle (Pronounced like Hail) and a long time fan of the games (since gen 4) I took a great personal offense to the removal of Hail from the game
I love how when I first saw Mickey talk about his encounter with a sunflora I went wow he was losing his touch and how that section was easy then proceeded to get continuously steam rolled by Arven for week unable to beat him.
Everyone say “hail yeah” to keep “hail yeah” alive and make sure Mickey doesn’t feel alone when trying to keep “hail yeah” alive because he’s not alone.
I enjoyed Scarlet and Violet, and generally wasn’t bothered that much by the performance issues (except online raid battles, those make Pokemon Go’s raids look perfectly stable). The main problem for me was that outside of the main story and the pokedex, there isn’t much to do. At least base Sword and Shield had a battle facility
@@notjosiah5283 you can also do a lot of the classes at the school and free time events (yes they are actually fun) still though there should be more, the postgame is especially lackluster
If having no battle facility means I can just buy stuff like Focus Sashes and Life Orbs for regular money without problems, then I'll happily see the facility put to bed.
I love Mikey super long explaination about his feelings about the game and how he went through the 5 stages of grief. He explained everyone’s thoughts very well and I found it very interesting I can relate to everything he said about the game. Amazing game, story and characters, but the performance… yeah. Well done Mikey. Great explanation.
Electric is super effective against water because of electrolysis, not conductivity. Electrolysis = process involving electricity in which water can be separated into hydrogen and oxygen.
That Greavard and To-ghep-ee entry is too wholesome :')) also agreed on pawmi line...ugh -ALSO...I love Gengar and STILL angry his shiny isn't white like it is in mega and dyna W.T.Heck!?
I think some Gym Leaders are better than others. Iono has two different versions. But my favorite so far is Larry. He's exactly what they mean by Badass Normal.
What I think Scarlet and Violet are doing with Dudunsparce and the Pawmi line is showing evolution in action. We know a bunch of Pokemon are related to one another (Croagunk and Seismitoad, for example) but we obviously have only the existing species of Pokemon to speculate on how their common ancestor looked. With, say, Dudunsparce, maybe we're seeing how one superficially insignificant change makes a whole new Pokemon...and that's essentially how evolution works, with small steps. Don't get me wrong, I was shocked, but there's got to be a reason for it to exist
1:47 I know a lot of people aren't too keen on the Dudunsparce evo, despite really liking Dunsparce, my friend thought the idea was stupid. But hear me out... more Dunsparce.
Okay, can I just say, amazing. The energy that you emit in this video, and the editing that goes with it are so good. Thing have improved so much since you came back, thank you
I love to imagine that there's some guy who worked real hard one Scarlet and Violet, put his all into fixing the issues before they could get addressed but ultimately didn't have the time to perfect everything for everyone and is just sat at his desk seeing people bash the game's admittedly poor performance and just muttering bitterly to himself like "I don't need your approval, Internet people.. I DID MY BEST-"
I remember having similar problems with that sunflora. I had charcadet use will-o-wisp, fire spin and spammed moves/healed my way through it. It’s worth mentioning the graphics in the classroom at the beginning as well, instead of fluid leg movements it was like a stop motion video (Where they make characters out of clay, arrange them in position, take a picture and repeat before editing them all together) truly a tragic start, the patch made things better performance wise, but graphics are still lacking tbh
I love these games, I love the characters, especially Arven, mainly bc my dad recently passed away and him learning the same thing near the end of violet and being able to move on has been especially helpful in my mourning experience. I love the starters, the new pokemon and just these games in general. One of my favorite new pokemon is actually dudunsparce bc it's a joke evo to a joke pokemon and its name sounds like the *Dum Dum Tiss*
You put how I felt about this game's launch so well. It's such a shame because the story is easily one of my favorites of the Pokémon series in general and definitely my favorite main Pokemon story. It had so much heart in the characters, I haven't felt this much for a game from Pokémon since Explorers of Sky. I love Scarlet and Violet, I wish they had polished it some more.
I'm about to help SO many people with this fact. If your battle is extremely laggy to the point of being annoying, aim your camera to where it looks like it's on the ground (or wherever you are, maybe the lake or something). This will literally make the lag stop. Hope this helps!
That whole segment about the stages of grief is EXACTLY what me n my buddies went through, down to the last minute detail…Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are fantastic games with a great story, batch of characters, and new Pokémon (might be controversial but i only dislike Bramblin, Brambleghast, and Dudunsparce), but the performance and bugs are unacceptable and all that Great video 👍
You know I miss hail as well... I wish it could be brought back in a unique setting like rain dance on a mountain drop would become hail due to intense cold. Think of it as a location specific status activated on unique circumstances while you keep the replacement effect as it is.
i think the reason meowth has so many regional variants is case cats get brought to many parts of the world and adapt to those places cause humans see funny cat and take it with them
It’s because meowth is from the original anime seasons. It’s a marketing ploy to attract older gamers (or fans of the anime) with nostalgia. Although I do like your idea as an explanation in universe
I love pawmi. it feels like someone actually training to be stronger its a Pika clone so the fact that it stays small and cute while just getting stronger is kinda what i wanted. finally a pika clone with layers. also imagine wanting the perfection that is dunsparce to evolve into something more different. that could only remove perfections.
While agreed that the performance was unacceptable by standard, the value of the game is still fantastic. Also glad to hear Mikey actually addressing the crap that goes on in the subreddit; I’d already left for those exact reasons
3:24 I believe that why water is weak to electric but not steel is because metal wires can safely transmit electricity without much harm to anything else. If lightning strikes water in the ocean, then all the surrounding animal life will be badly shocked as well.
Water type Pokemon itself aren’t water, it’s more animals that live in water. That is why they are damaged when electricity strikes water. Funnily, Pokemon that are actual liquids (Ditto, Muk, Reuniclus) are in fact not Water type.

Hail yeah! That's great
Team Sky’s true goal: Remake the hail
Behold, Asnowdeus, Lord of the 9 Hails, ruler of weather. Look upon him and despair. He shall not rest until Gamefreak adds hail back to the game.
During the hail rant all I could imagine was Team Sky leader Mikey's quest being 'make it hail in Paldea' rather than expand the sky or rule the sky like normal and then giggling like a maniac
Team Sky Hail Yeah Arc
When I heard the "expand the sky" thing i thought of him destroying the earth so that most pieces are removed but enough land remains so sky creatures can eat and live
An all out assault with ice pokemon to restore hail to the franchise
@@xxspicytacoxx1861 less land means more room for sky,I thought only I thought of it
Hail comes from the sky.
Nope, that's about it. There is no connection or even nonsensical illogical reasoning to relate the two because then you could and would be obligated to do the same thing for everything else. I never thought I'd say this but this actually makes "Expanding the Sky" a more reasonable and logical and possible goal than "Make it Hail in Paldea"
Because while I'm at it I'll give Castform an Evolution.

As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God.
Mikey going through 2 different character arcs in one video is amazing

I found the lag to be so jarring and annoying by early on, but I found after about an hour of gameplay I fully adjusted to the performance issues. in my opinion, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet reminded me of FNAF Security Breach, they both just needed more time. Scarlet and Violet tried to keep tradition, and FNAF Security Breach was pressured by the community to release. So the only difference comparing both game qualities, was that one was the devs fault, and the other was the community's fault.
Also, despite their flaws, you can tell a LOT of love was put into the games
@@autismandgaming4532 yes, very much
It wasn't actually the community pressure that made Security Breach release early from what I heard.
After so many delays to the release date, the marketing agency they were with just got fed up with how many times they had to delay, they pretty much gave them one last deadline and it has to release by then. Make the game playable and fix it any other bugs left after it's released

@@autismandgaming4532
Except that by and large the critics of this game _are_ giving the games plenty of kudos for the openness, story, Pokemon designs, and in general how the Pokemon feel like they have more personality.

That whole segment about the stages of grief is EXACTLY what me n my buddies went through, down to the last minute detail…Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are fantastic games with a great story, batch of characters, and new Pokémon (might be controversial but i only dislike Bramblin, Brambleghast, and Dudunsparce), but the performance and bugs are unacceptable and all that
Great video 👍
You know I miss hail as well... I wish it could be brought back in a unique setting like rain dance on a mountain drop would become hail due to intense cold. Think of it as a location specific status activated on unique circumstances while you keep the replacement effect as it is.
Yeah! Like sunlight and intense sunlight except for hail!
i think the reason meowth has so many regional variants is case cats get brought to many parts of the world and adapt to those places cause humans see funny cat and take it with them
i agree, that makes the most sense since cats are literally everywhere
It’s because meowth is from the original anime seasons. It’s a marketing ploy to attract older gamers (or fans of the anime) with nostalgia. Although I do like your idea as an explanation in universe
I love pawmi. it feels like someone actually training to be stronger its a Pika clone so the fact that it stays small and cute while just getting stronger is kinda what i wanted. finally a pika clone with layers.
also imagine wanting the perfection that is dunsparce to evolve into something more different. that could only remove perfections.
As an enjoyer of Skyrim and a few MMOs the performance and glitches of Scarlet and Violet felt like a breath of fresh air
Right there with you lol
Ive gotten used to glitchy games because I used to play minecraft on a trash computer
Bruh same
@@necrozma1113 Same
Yeah I think the bugs and glitches make it more fun, a little bit of unpredictability
