I notice you're wearing the Hollyland, was that the audio source? It sounds amazing! Also, I now appreciate your color correction- it looks fine, but the corrected videos are noticably nicer! Color me impressed 😉 Amazing video as usual!
This is what I thought the RCV would be, in my super personal and not professional opinion, this seems more user friendly which I love! I don't like the T bar, though never been a fan of it. The size is perfect and the fact that it's touch screen is amazing! I can see me and my non creator friends who just wanna hang out and assist me using this on client shoots. The Atem is pretty simple too but I love the L4. For me it only solves the problem of not needing a monitor and that's not enough. Sidenote, I was looking for my name at the end of the video like I always do and I couldn’t find it 😅then I zoomed out and saw it at the top 🎉nice.
It's definitely a cool form factor. I love the tactile-ness of the RCV and the touchscreen functionality of the YoloBox, and this kind of merges both concepts in a cool way.
I’ve been wondering about the Ulanzi and Fieldworld video switches. I appreciate your review. You always give a great overview of tech and how it fits in with other choices. Thank you.
Thanks Don! I'm working on a review for the Ulanzi now. It's VERY hard to move away from a nice big screen once you have it, but the Ulanzi is very solid for the price.
Hi I'm brand new to this hardware and just learned they are called switchers through your super infomative RCV video that I watched a few hours ago. Imagine my surprise and joy when a 16 hour old video is recommended that shows off a simpler more affordable unit which should suffice for what I need. Just wanted to say thanks, great videos and great communication!👍👌✌
I thought the color was different for the entire video and I thought I was going crazy but then when you said why I was like OK Josh you’re not becoming senile way too soon! 😂 This one is pretty cool. I’m always fascinated by these sweaters, even though physically I’ll probably never be able to use one because I’ll never have the space to have multiple cameras, but they really neat!
Yeah, I normally always adjust the colors on my videos but don't usually do it when talking about switchers since I don't want anyone to be confused if things don't look the same when they try it themselves. 😬
Toooooom, I just said I was interested in the Atem Mini, but after this I’m definitely getting this! Looks so user friendly and it would be nice to have the “Atem Mini” with a screen and not have to order a screen or have to keep up with that and another cable. I’m also not worried about audio because I use the ‘Tascam Mixcast 4’, I absolutely love that machine!
8:36 Touchscreens are great, but you'll have to look down at the screen in order to interact with it. If anyone has a visual disability, it's more likely someone such as myself is going to have to bend their back or pick up the FeelWorld L4, look at the screen, and return back to the position and resume their recording or streaming. For me, I've had to pick up my Rodecaster Duo, look at the screen, and put it back down once I'm done with it. With Behringer XR18 (it's suited for live events), I don't have to. I can just launch or switch to X-Air Edit in Linux, make adjustments, and resume what I was doing before. I can even use a screen magnifier to see what I'm doing. However, when it comes to recording in real-time, tactile buttons for video switching is important to me. Imagine you're in a vehicle and there's a touchscreen display. If I can operate the stereo with tactile buttons, so much the better. I can just feel the location of the buttons and just press the button once I know where to press.
I can't speak to the disability aspect, but everything can be controlled with the physical buttons and knobs, so using the touch screen isn't required. I think it's neat that it works either way!
Thanks Tom, yet another great review. If you could design a switch what are the aspects of the models shown you would blend to get the ultimate control. Then take out a copyright or patent ❤
Hi Tom, thank you again for a great video. A couple of questions for you, if I were to go with this instead of saving for the RCV, what would my workflow look like with the RC2 as my audio source instead of using the built in audio input and also what good starter cameras would I look at to connect here? I usually use my iphone in continuity mode and a ZV1.
Basically if you wanted to use this with the RCP2, you could just connect them to your computer separately through USB and then combine the audio and video sources with something like Ecamm or OBS. That'll give you much better audio than trying to find a way to run the Rodecaster through the L4, which will degrade the signal. The ZV1 can run through the L4 via HDMI, but the iPhone might be a bit different. You can still bring it in with Continuity as a separate source via Ecamm or OBS to mix with the L4. You could also get an HDMI adapter and run it through the L4 too (but sometimes there can be latency issues when mixing phones with cameras). Honestly, if you're only using the phone and the ZV1, it might be better to stick with Continuity and then just get a Cam Link as a capture card for the camera. Much less expensive and simpler overall 👍
I use ecamm live because it works with my Canon cameras that do not have clean HDMI. I returned the ATEM mini because it couldn’t work with the Canon cameras. Do you know if the L4 would have the same issue or would it work with Ecamm to get clean HDMI?
Clean HDMI is a setting within the cameras themselves and not the switcher. Not sure why you were getting different results with Ecamm vs. your ATEM, but they should be the same. I've used a mix of Canon and Sony cameras with all my switchers 👍
@@tombuck Thanks for the reply. Older Canon cameras like the 6DMKII don't have the option to send a clean HDMI unfortunately. ECAMM bypasses the HDMI by connecting to the cameras via USB, so it is able to make it a clean signal. Since you're running into ECAMM I was wondering if it could still do that using the L4 USB instead. I suspect not.
I really wanna do a second angle, I did once and made every mistake possible lol... but, the post-production was BRUTAL. syncing all the external audios, syncing videos themselves. my computer started crashing from file sizes. LORD.
Just what we need is another 4 port switcher... Glad it has a SDI port. Other than Audio not impressed with the RCV. Nice looking screen. Not enough USB ports and the fact that you can't bring in audio in from a RCP2 or Mackie is a deal breaker.
Who the L did they make this 4 why am I laughing so hard at that anyways wanted to ask you atem iso what’s the big deal of recording isolated videos when editing
The separate tracks are really helpful if you want to change things during editing (either because it’s better creatively or maybe to fix a mistake where there was a cut to the wrong camera or something).
I don’t like the quality of the video. The rode and atem looks way better. The colors aren’t great and it looks a little grainy. The functionality looks decent for a beginner.

Yep, this is all the Hollyland which I really really like!

The screen is soooooooo nice! Really tough to go back to a switcher without it once you have it.
@ Thanks for making such a great video review of it! Can’t wait for mine to come in!
Always with the nifty gadgets that I want to now buy.

Putting them all in a blender and mushing the best part together would definitely be ideal!
Any thoughts on the AtomX Cast with the Atomos Ninja?

How dare you used the Rode HDMI cables on their competitor's device sir! :) ;)
Luckily it didn't burst into flames or anything 😅
It has a T-Bar! More of these small switchers need T-Bars.
are you saying you can program switching? I have the unit
There's no way to program switching withe the L4, it's all done manually.
I use ecamm live because it works with my Canon cameras that do not have clean HDMI. I returned the ATEM mini because it couldn’t work with the Canon cameras. Do you know if the L4 would have the same issue or would it work with Ecamm to get clean HDMI?

I purchased an early model and the screen flickered! Tom, do you see a screen flicker?
I've had mine for about 6 months now and haven't had any flicker.
What a nice video again
I really wanna do a second angle, I did once and made every mistake possible lol... but, the post-production was BRUTAL. syncing all the external audios, syncing videos themselves. my computer started crashing from file sizes. LORD.
Yeah, if you don’t need 4K, a switcher makes a world of difference for sure!
Just what we need is another 4 port switcher... Glad it has a SDI port. Other than Audio not impressed with the RCV. Nice looking screen. Not enough USB ports and the fact that you can't bring in audio in from a RCP2 or Mackie is a deal breaker.
The L1 was the first one out.
Yep, you're totally right
The screen seems very responsive.
It is! I'd say it's the same as a smart phone, which makes it very easy to use.
Yolobox is doing 4K so I wouldn’t say it’s not feasible.
It does, but it doesn't. You can have a single 4K source for streaming, but additional sources bump it down to 1080.
Interesting, everything that I have read about the Yolobox Ultra and Yolobox Extreme mentions 4K.

Thanks for simplifying this for me keep bringing the best videos
Two things that should be illegal. Those plastic things in new pairs of socks, and dip switches.
Those clips are no fun. Same with the weird little tape on new underwear.
@ lol! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@Urbanmediashowcase is that true? If you use it it will degrade the signal? I’d buy it if it sends a clean signal into ecamm. Hope Tom can clarify
0:51 this is how Bluebird sees the world he recorded, It truly is. 🥲
I wish I could’ve play with those livestream controllers, It would be fun. 😊
