Everyone is talking about this new, super fast, crisp, new editor, called ZED. Some go as far to say it's the VSCode killer. 😱 I'm not particularly in love with VSCode, so I just had to give Zed a try - and I like it so far!

The terminal in Zed is considered the Bottom dock. Here are a couple of nice shortcuts for it that come OOTB: * You can toggle the bottom dock using command + J * You can open new terminal windows using control + ~ * You can toggle between terminal windows using control + tab * You can close the open terminal window using command + W * You can close all other terminal windows using option + command + T
Thank you. I literally just started with Zed and was like "there has to be a quicker way to open terminal" and UA-cam heard me mentally say that and recommended your video.
weird stuff. I thought maybe a recent release might be at fault but I've updated Zed and it's still working on my end. Just to be sure, your keymap.json file path is ~/.config/zed/keymap.json, right?
Not a huge fan of overriding ⌘T, which is macOS's default key for new tab. Personally, I use iTerm 2 with a global ⌃⌘T shortcut inspired by many Linux distros' ctrl+alt+t. I used to run terminals in my IDE, but I prefer to separate those concerns nowadays. Dedicated terminal clients are better at being a terminal client, anyway.
@@cdruc iTerm2 for example has incredible customisation features, more than any IDE's built-in terminal that I know of. But the biggest reason for me is that I don't like my terminal sessions being tied to my IDE. If I close or restart my IDE, my sessions will be gone. That doesn't happen with a separate terminal client.
@@pindab0terZed’s term is built from alacritty I believe, so pretty good. And even when I’m in wezterm I launch zellij using a small script that makes sure the session’s context is based on the git project root, so even if I restart editor or zed, the terminal session survives.

Please make a video about your ZED setup for Frontend, especially vue, nuxt app with autocomplete, lint etc.
There should be a pre cooked keybindings right?
Thank you
I followed this but cmd-t keeps opening 'Search project symbols'
And cmd-n keeps opening new text editor window when cursor is in terminal
weird stuff.
