    Gorgeous design! Love the original artwork 👏🏻
    What a difference that tiny bit of black makes! Love Rolkem & Edible Art Paint (she's an amazing artist but her name escapes me currently). Love your style! I could watch you paint all day, it's mesmerizing 😊

      Thank you Sharon. I loooooove Rolkem Dusts. The Edible Art Paints are made right here in Oz by a cool chick called Miranda, from Sweet Sticks.
      Hopefully have some more tunes up soon!

    Hi Zoe !!!! Your tutorials are awesome, but I didn't quite catch what liquids can you use to dilute the powders, can you please help me ???

      Thank you :) I use a few things.
      - Rose Spirt because it dries super fast (is great for metallics because of this!)
      - Vodka is great for watercolour or blending (if you need more time to muck about with the colours) and I have also used
      - Quick Dry Essence (which is a alcohol based solution) and it dries somewhere in between Rose Spirit and Vodka.

    Could I do the same on modelling chocolate covered cakes?

    Hi there. Question: I’m only doing fondant on the top of the cake. So basically I just need to paint the round top. How early can I paint it prior to the birthday? How do I let it dry prior to painting (do I just expose the fondant to air)? And what is the best way to store it until it’s time to place on the cake? Thank you much!!

      Hi Elizabeth - you can do the fondant disc/round weeks in advance if you wish. Leaving fondant in the air dries it perfectly, the time it takes will depend on your temperature/climate but for me it usually takes anywhere from a few hours to overnight. Once complete you can just store the disc in an airtight container and it will be fine to keep until you need it :)

    I was wondering if you have a watercolour fondant cake, can you paint the image over it, or would you paint the image first and work around it to create the water colour look? Ive seen some cakes with images of people, or a famous painting on the cake, and the entire cake is a watercolour background.

      I would watercolour the background first then transfer the image and paint it over the top. :)

    Hi, What kind of powder colors did you use and can I use dusts to paint with? Also can I use green alcohol?

      In this video I used Rolkem but I now only use Magic Colour dusts - I use the lustres and petal dusts. Yes, you can but be prepared for it to slightly alter the colours, especially if you are using yellow dusts. It will be slight but it will be there!

    Would this work on a smooth buttercream?

    • @SugarArtbyZoeByres

      yes it will bit it needs to be super chilled and I've found I rely on more of an indentation than an outline transfer... should do a video for you!

      In the video I used Rolkem dusts. I now however use a brand called Magic Colours, they have a great range and are edible.
      I purchase mine from a local cake supplier here in Brisbane.

    Can we keep this cake in fridge... After painting...

    • @SugarArtbyZoeByres
      @SugarArtbyZoeByres  5 років тому

      there really isn't need to keep a fondant cake in the fridge unless it has some sort of filing that might go funny if not kept cold. Condensation is often an issue on painted cakes as it can cause bleeding and colour run, so best to keep it dry and just in a cool place.

    • @SugarArtbyZoeByres

      I got mine from an art supply store but you can get them from most stores (Kmart etc), news agencies or office supply stores.

    What are you get your products this is Lisa fair from California

    • @SugarArtbyZoeByres
      @SugarArtbyZoeByres  4 роки тому

      I get my products from local cake stores. You can paint with any edible petal dust (any brand) mixed with alcohol (the higher the alcohol content the faster it will dry).
