Deluxe Edition seems to have pretty good performance even without the mod on my system (5800X, 32GB 3733MHz CL16 DDR4, 5700 XT). But in case someone is still having performance issues, make sure you're running the game in "Borderless" or "Windowed" if you have Vsync enabled. Fullscreen + Vsync turns the game into a stutter fest on my rig. With Enhanced Sync and Chill enabled with an 80 FPS cap and vsync disabled in the game on Fullscreen, it is absolutely butter smooth now, and the performance mod makes it even better.
Absolutely totally agree. 32GB ram, Ryzen 7 and a RX5700 and I’m lucky if I get 1 frame a second now I’ve a population of 150000. Processor at 98% permanently. The games insanely good - but ever expanding your empire ultimately kills it.

I'm running the game on a fairly old laptop that has a Nvidia GeForce GT 525M card, 8GB of RAM, 2.70GHz dual core i5, plus a 222GB SSD so yeah not the best, but the game looks fine to me.

Is this mod allowed in speedruns? It doesn't alter gameplay at all, and it would lower the barrier of entry in terms of PC power significantly. Could help even the playing field.

Sure. Ask someone in the goodshephard discord server to install the mod you want and then send it you. simulation crawling to a halt is a bigger problem for me, I had to stop building a map because it had reached like 155k

The performance mod disables achievements. Achievements with mods counteracts this
