- A first day playing after the build. Break-in time :)
This speaker to my ears has a very lovely sweet mid and clarity is great in highs. Deep bass and I expect it to be tighter as time pass by as I experienced with it's little brother ekta mkII before :P
UPDATE: 11/Aug23, After few days of long playing, the speaker is now slowly opening up. I can say it has more details and space than its little brother ekta mkII. The 3 dimensionality is very apparent as well and I am having a goose bump. Great design from Troels :)

As you hold both Ekta MKII & 7741, could you please share your valuable inputs on which is best at what areas. what improvements we see as we move from Discovery tweeter to illuminator Tweeter series. also from 1 7" to dual 7" woofers. or MKII is better and preferred? thanks in advance.
Hi to my ears the big difference is the bass while the high is a little bit more lush bit just a little bit than ekta and mid are just the same. This is what i am looking for anyway a speaker that sounds like ekta but with more powerful bass. Thanks

how did the ekta mk2 speakers turn out?
@@golfhead54 ils ce sont révélé plutôt difficile à contrôler avec l’event a l’arrière ! Je suis passé d’un sugden ia4 à un accuphase p4100 pour plus de contrôle dans les basses. Après prise de mesure avec un micro de calibration umik les graph révèlent une grosse bosse à 60hz… ma piece ou les enceintes je ne sais pas trop🤷♂️. J’utilise un eversolo dmp a8 avec le dsp actif, courbe de rééquilibrage injecté dans le dsp et tout est okay maintenant 👍🏼! J’ai les sba 941 avec les tweeters béryllium, si tu a la place je te les conseille par rapport au ekta! Peut etre le bass reflex sur la face avant aurait ete profitables au ekta si jamais vous vous lancez dans le projet.
Hi! I'm interested in doing this. Have you measured somehow the frequency range? . In my playlist there are some drum&bass tracks and some not necessarily audiophile music.
I'm wondering how low the bass goes, do you have any idea?
Hi mate, sorry i have not done any measurements but what i can say based on my experience is that it can really go low and the sound is still great.

Sounds very very good. I have a pair of KLH Model 5s I like, but these sound yummy.
Teo: Another great speaker build. The 7741's sound great but it's hard to compare the sound on UA-cam between the 7741 and the Etka mkii's (you've mic'd them differently). I'm sure the 7741's have improved bass but to my ear the Ekta mkii's sound more coherent more pure. Again that could be just how you've recorded them. But it could be more than that. A different cross over could yield a different directivity index (off axis sound). To your own ear, do the 7741's match the ekta's in the vocals?
Hi mate, thanks for watching. I prefer the 7741 in all aspects now. On first few hours of using it, the bass is already the obvious improvement but the mids are not too great yet until it fully breaks in. I remember having the same thing with ekta when i first built it, it took quite some time for it to fully open up.

What happened to your 3way SBA? Did you give it away and if so for what reason, sound quality or looks?

@@asedillo1 thanks for the quick reply. May I ask: what made you make 2 models and how would you describe the differences? I have been looking at his page for ages but I cannot decide between all the options. One day I think a 3WC must be the one to go, then I am not willing to get another pair of nice stands and think why not make a floorstander... And a few days later I wanna go with a nice 2 way stand mount because it's easier to build and maybe even better for small rooms. Maybe you can tell me a bit about the differences between the two. Thanks!
@@PeterPan-lx1zb SBA has better bass IMO while ekta mkII have better mid to my ears. Now with the new 741 I can get a better bass with good mid. All of them sounds great. I am using ekta to my smaller room. SBA to my other entertainment room which I use for nearfield listening.
@@asedillo1thanks for your input. I am lurking to built the EKTA mk II. May I ask you if the speakers are difficult to place in a room , can they be also placed in a small 12 sqm room without overloading the room to much? Does the Ekta also work in nearfield/midfield between 1,5 and 2 meters
@@I.am.KubKab in my experience, ekta mk2 performs well in not so big room. my other room where it sits now is around 16 sqm and it works well. When it was in the living room, I feel like it was a bit struggling.
