@@jms7585 even when policing downtown Baghdad during the height of war never were civilians treated in this manner although policing "real" enemies and certainly people who hated America. Attempts to win hearts and minds by treating folk with dignity and human respect goes a long way. Because someone mouths-off or not doing what you like (which isn't illegal) doesn't justify violence. In order to get those items into the officers hands, and to effectively hear each other, you will have to roll your window down. You are NOT required to roll your window all the way down…. The officers gave a faulty command that didn’t have to be followed. During a traffic stop if no other crime is suspected the officers have to respect your privacy. Tyreek had a good excuse to keep the window rolled up. He didn’t want the bad press. Any judge will see that video and realize yes Tyreek is an asshole but he didn’t break any crime or rule. There was no justification for the police to be that aggressive. Yes Tyreek should have rolled his window down quicker, and this infuriated the officers bc he didn't respect their 'authority'. They could have simply written him a citation and sent him on his way. This was not about protecting the community. This was men with bruised egos who used excessive force because they wanted to show him 'who's boss'

In Florida, during a lawful taffic stop, officers have the right to remove you from your vehicle, if you refuse, it's considered resisting without violence, and a misdemeanor committed in the Officers presence therefore arrestable.
That's why Mr. Hill was removed from his vehicle and cuffed. Officer also have the discretion on misdemeanors to later unarrest and issue paperwork for the arrest.
Mr. Hill escalated the situation by not complying.
