Sorry about your injury, first of all. I had a similar issue with my achilles, and as you explained, the same process came up of having to go to PT before any MRI. The explanation I was given: no insurance would cover the MRI just like that without trying with PT first....(Yeah, I know.)
Back to the shoes, I absolutely love the flighposites aesthetically, and finally bought and put my hands on a pair with a few discounts for about $100 last year (the eggplants, btw) but my wide feet couldn't take it, not even after going a full size up. Thanks for your great reviews, including the one from a while ago where you cover the need / opportunity to do more shoes for wide-footers :)

Them Allen Houston H20posites. Straight classic. I've always wanted a pair of them growing up. To see Nike to bring them back out with the Knicks/Allen Houston colorway? Must cop to play in. 🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯

Sounds like what happened to me 7-8 years ago. 1" muscle tear between the fibres in the calf picked up on ultrasound. Took me out for around 8 weeks to heal and subsequently had muscle atrophy where my right calf is now a bit smaller than my left calf. Rest, recoup and physical therapy to allow the calf to heal properly. Otherwise you may experience continual issues and weakness which will leave you susceptible to reinjury. Do your research and put a plan in place for best recovery. All the best, Dave

this was my favorite era of sneaker design. Not everything was functional or super light, but every signature model was super experimental and like a concept car. It was like the concept sneaker era. All the posites, the adidas kobe series modeled after audi's the t-mac 1-3, Reebok Answer 3-5...and every sneaker was covering their laces with shrouds or zippers and it was awesome. Now every sneaker is super skimpy, and just some kinda fuze type of sneaker with no litteral design inspiration...The Jordan 14s took literal design cues from a ferari and looked like they could've been designed by the ferari car designers, but now everything is just randomly placed strips of fuze and wire

I had the same injury like yours on my left calf 5 years ago. I was 36 yrs old and still played as hard as I could.
It happened during game, I was moving sideways then suddenly went for a steal while playing defense. I felt like I got punch in the middle of my calf with a serious pain then went down on the floor, couldn't move my leg or even standing up. My doctor said it's minor muscle tear, it took me 12 weeks to fully recover. Yes, it was pain during rehab but it's necessarily. Also lesson learned that I shouldn't skip warm up every time I play, becos I'm getting FUXX old. Haha...
Chris, Hope you get well soon!!

Hang in the Nightwing. I had that same injury happen to me in both calves on back to back years. I heard and felt that pop, then I was just done. I thought it was because I'm way too old and overweight now to be hoopin' the way I used to 15 years ago so that's why my calves gave out. But after hearing you suffering from a similar injury makes me think otherwise. My recovery time was about a month without rehab both times it happened. Get some rest and get well soon. Love your videos.

I have the older version before when I was hooping during my high school days i can say it was one of the best shoes i've ever hooped in, made me more agile and faster, then I tried this new version, that rubber wrapping on the toes of the shoe from previous version really made a big difference in terms of performance I was slipping all over the place I play point guard position was very dis appointed on this newer version

It’s because the insurance company won’t cover an MRI unless the doctor can justify it. If it’s not an obvious tear/breakage then the MRI is probably going to come back negative anyways. Dealing with these insurance companies is a nightmare sometimes. The only way you can get the MRI approved by the insurance company is if you prove PT doesn’t work. They just add more steps so not to “waste” money. Learned all of this really quick after medical school.

That’s krazy!! 2/12 I tore my quadricep tendon away from my knee cap (same injury as vic Oladipo). Playing 3 on 3, went to get a rebound and POW!!! I heard it, felt it, and immediately thought “who hit me with a baseball?” But there were no kids and everybody there was 35 or older. I’m healing up now. But as far as the shoe, my brother had a pair back when they first came out. The sole came off one of the shoes while he was playing in a game. It tore from the forefoot back the where the front of the heel zoom unit is.

I was just wearing these in the home knicks colorway today. Im kinda bummed because at first I bought these for retail and it went on sale but these were one of the most durable shoes I ever owned. I used to play indoors in highschool now only outdoors. Still no flaws with the traction but the cushion never broke in for me. Not sure why the actual foamposite broke in but the cushion didn't. It may be due to the concrete I play on but when I wear these my feet are dead for the day after a hoop session. Good video, hope you get better and have a good day

Positive thoughts your way dude. Hope you feel better and that it’s not too serious. No MRI thing is a little crazy to me but I’m not a doctor. I know when I sprained my Achilles I had a similar experience where I heard a pop when trying to take off and then my leg just wouldn’t respond to what I was telling it to do. Took a little less than two months for that to heal and I was like 28 at the time. Wish you well man!

Nice video Chris, hope you get well soon! It really sucks not to be able to ball, but in your case it's even worse, not being able to do your (amazing) job. I hope to get a pair of these, maybe in another cw to play in them and to use that insole in other retro shoes, specially those with no cushion at all and enough dead space over the toe so I can play in them (being 38 years old makes you need cushion).

  • @AlvaroOryan
    @AlvaroOryan 4 роки тому

Chris, I always check out your reviews before buying a shoe. in this case I did so, but you never mentioned the zipper issue, maybe because you had none. but I just got a pair of flightopsites and I'm having a hard time with the zipper, which just won't go up, in fact I can hardly zip it to the middle . I'm a widefooter and also have a "tall" bridge which makes impossible for me to zipp the shoe up. I don't want to push it to the limit and break it. I don't think it's a "break in" thing that will be solved with time. I also don't think that going up half or 1 size solves the issue either. despite this setback, I love how the shoes looks (I'm a Knicks fan) and I can't wait to ball on them.
you deliver great content, keep it up. greetings from Chile!

the first time i saw the eggplant flighgtposite was the sample for kobe, with number 8 on the top of he zipper/shroud thing. I had 2 pairs of the OGs back in the days and really enjoy playing in them. My favorite main foam shoe was the ultraposite though, took hella long to break (a foam tradition i guess), but after that it was hard to get over the insane cushion and fit and lockdown. I doubt it would be retroed but would love to see it come back with the same tech and everything...

I would definitely say go 1/2 size up. Really snug otherwise. The insoles make Jordan 4 feel amazing

Shame they don't just sell the insole ! Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Off thread question do the the lebron 16 soles variety in durability due to colour , will the translucent wear faster than a black or white ?

Can you do my favorite BBALL shoe of all time. Tim Duncan Air Uptempo. The foamposite shoe was the only shoe at the time that had laces, zipper to cover the laces, and Velcro strap to secure everything.

This new generation don't know bout this shoe it come out the late 90,s and come out again the eary 2,000 all because retro come out a new color way don't make it new. Like Jordan's ain't new untill they but a new color way jordan6 is not new. Good video knightwing 👍 i dig it
